- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Hearing that Damon rarely apologized wasn't something that came as a surprise to her. She could tell that they would fight again, and possibly have worse arguments than most would deal with. Being a very hot tempered individual herself she knew that sometimes she said and did things that weren't always the right thing to do. She usually did what she had to do in order to make things right, yet sometimes she herself didn't do the correct things since she reacted without thinking in her own life. She was a complex woman. It was disconcerting and yet exhilarating to know that she had met someone who was so much like her that it was almost scary.
Hearing that he wanted to dance she grinned, leading them out onto the dance floor. She was surprised to see other couples dancing slowly this time, though what was even more surprising was that she saw Katerina dancing with the tall hunter. She still had to make sure she took care of that. Now that she and Damon were at least for the moment under control she had to make sure that she didn’t lose sight of the reason that she was here. This thought concerned her since once she had done her job what would happen then? Would she really be able to stay in this town until it was time to move on? Would Damon go with her if she decided to leave? She didn’t want to think about it so instead she simply laid her head on Damon’s shoulder as they danced, letting the music soothe her scattered thoughts.
Hearing his words she pulled back, her eyes searching his. "You have the ability to mean everything to me." She told him bluntly, yet truthfully. "I've never fallen for someone like I've fallen for you...and that scares me while excites me at the same time." She was always truthful so her words rang with sincerity. Hearing his next statement her eyebrows raised in surprise. “Really?” She asked him, her eyes seeking his as she tried to search out whether he was telling the truth or not. This was a character flaw of hers, she always wondered if people were lying. Of course she had learned her lesson and didn’t ask him straight out if he was telling the truth but that didn’t mean that she didn’t question it. After seeing and knowing the things that she did it was hard for her to simply trust on word.
“And how do you think that your brother will react to the news that you are with someone?” She asked him, though that wasn’t her only question. She could guess that while Stefan might be concerned about who he was with, she was sure that he would be relieved that Damon had found someone that he himself hadn’t dated before. She had known about Katerina obviously but then after learning about the doppelganger she could understand the younger Salvatore’s frustration with his elder brother.
She laughed a quiet laugh. “I haven’t heard that term since the 1950’s and even then it made me laugh.” She told him before reaching up to stroke his cheek. “But I like the idea itself.” She whispered before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to his lips, this time it was gentle…loving. She refused to acknowledge what it was, though she knew it was a silent declaration…she just wouldn’t admit that it was a declaration of love.

------------------------------ [/b][/size]  ------------------------------[/b][/size] It was weird meeting Sophia. All of it seemed so sudden to Damon but he was loving every single moment with her. She was actually really amazing yet she made him so crazy. He worried for her, care for her, wanted her to be happy. He wanted to be selfish with Sophia but he wanted to show the world how beautiful she was and how she took a chance on him. He still couldn't believe that he was here with her. Damon had always thought he was doomed with love but apparently he didn't have to go looking for love it had to come to him. For once in Damon's existence as a vampire he was happy. Sophia made him happier than Elena did but this was different. Maybe it was because he had Sophia and just the way things were.
As Damon led Sophia to the dance floor and noticed Katherine. She looked happy with that hunter Sam. For some reason Damon was happy for her. Even though he had been through hell and back with her he just had some type of respect for her. This was probably because he had closure with her when he forgot everything, he wondered if things would have been different if he didn't lose his memories. Would he still hate her? There were so many questions going on through his head but he just shook them out for now, right now he needed to focus on Sophia. The two started dancing once again slowly and somehow different, more graceful. All Damon thought of was this dance. He just felt so peaceful here on this dance floor as if no one was there besides them, it felt good.
Damon was happy to hear what Sophia was saying. He felt the exact same way as well. He was a hopeless romantic he couldn't help it. "I know I've cared for girls very easily but you were the first one to make me happy," he said lightly and truthfully. He'd always be there for Sophia no matter what, he could never let go of her. If she had left him he would have broken. She was the one that Damon needed his whole life without him realizing it. He just wished that she came to his life sooner. But he was glad that he could finally be happy. It was a strange feeling, happiness that is. He had felt it before but to a certain extent. Generally most days Damon was unhappy but with Sophia in his life he knew he'd be happy more than sad.
"Don't get too excited now," he said with a teasing smile. He actually understood why she wouldn't believe him or had doubt. He was in love with Elena and maybe before he would have been ashamed to introduce Sophia or use her to try and make Elena jealous which wouldn't work but this was something real and he wanted to show Stefan and Elena he was actually happy and he was done trying to go for Elena because his love for her was diminishing into a friendship kind of love. "Yes, really," he said seriously. He was going to do it, to be honest he wanted to do it now but it would ruin the moment. "I'm not going to hide you. I want them to know that you're special to me." He was ready to tell them about her and if they didn't like it then they could piss off. "I know you have your little missions," he said once again teasingly. "But I want you to be there with me when I tell them this week." He didn't want to wait any longer to tell them. He wasn't in a rush but he wasn't going to wait forever either.
Damon shrugged. He thought that Stefan would be more than excited because now Damon could leave Stefan's relationship alone. "Probably happy that I'll stop going for Elena since I found the someone better than her." He thought Sophia was better in every way and he felt really lucky to be with her. Damon didn't know if Stefan would be happy for him but he knew he'd be happy and that's all that really mattered. Damon did care for his brother a lot but of course hid it. Being with Sophia made Damon realize a lot actually. "Who knows maybe he'll even be a little jealous that I have a hot vampire girlfriend," he said with a smirk. He actually wondered what Stefan would say but Damon would have to wait.
Damon liked hearing Sophia laugh. "I am old-fashion," he said jokingly. Although he did kind of like the olden days but the present was good since Sophia was in the picture plus people were easier to compel. Sophia had leaned in to kiss him and Damon kissed her softly, passionately, as if this was the last time he'd kiss her. He had realized three things tonight. He was happy for his brother and Elena, he wanted the best for them, and he was completely and utterly in love with Sophia Wright. This shocked him actually. He had fallen in love in such a short amount of time. He interrupted the kiss. "I want all of you," he said seriously. "I especially want your heart. I want you to trust me," he then pressed his lips against hers once again lightly and passionately. He was lost in love. All he thought of was her and only saw her in his mind.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Hearing that she was the first woman to make Damon happy struck her as odd since she had seen Damon and Katerina together back in 1864 and he seemed relatively happy back then. Granted she was sure at the time that he was unaware that his brother was being compelled daily by his lovely temptress and that the woman that he had professed to love was also carrying on with his baby brother, however either way he seemed happy, albeit unaware. So she wasn’t sure if she believed him when he said that she had been the only one to ever make him happy but she didn’t dare try to argue her point once again. At least not in the middle of a crowd of people.
“Well I must say I am flattered Mr. Salvatore.” She told him, purposely letting her full thick British accent out, sounding exactly like she had as a human all those years ago. She had learned over the course of her lifetime to hide her accent as much as possible though she rarely did so. She didn’t however allow her full accent to ever come forth because it truly showed how old she was. Yet with him it was easy to be herself, something that she rarely was able to say. It had been a very long time since she had allowed anyone to see the real her, yet with Damon it was almost too easy…and unfortunately that unnerved her a little bit.
“We all have crosses to bare lovely. We all have our share of skeletons in the closet. All I want to do is be honest about them. I know that you loved Katerina and I know a part of you still loves Elena, and that’s okay.” She told him honestly, though she would admit that it bothered her a tiny bit. She did understand though that he hadn’t known her and that love never truly went away. What bothered her was that she could not count on him if it came down to her or Elena and that worried her. However she would worry about that later, she refused to let it get her down.
His words about bringing her with him when he told his brother and his girlfriend about her filled her with a sense of pride. “You know I’ll be there for you love.” She told him, not even noticing that she had called him love instead of lovely or darling. Granted love was a term of endearment from where she was from but the tone of her voice made it clear that it was much more than just a simple play on words.
Before she could say anything else she heard an argument break free from across the room. Turning in Damon’s arms before she could stop herself she was surprised to see the younger Salvatore brother arguing with the Petrova doppelganger. She watched with furrowed brows, not sure why she even bothered to care yet something struck her about the scene as odd. Turning back to Damon right after she watched both parts of the pairing storm out she tilted one eyebrow up. “What was that about?” She asked him before begrudgingly continuing. “Did you want to go after one of them?” She hoped that he would say no, or at least say he needed to go after his brother, though that was her more selfish part of her.
Letting the more selfish part of her win out she leaned up on her tip toes and whispered in his ear. “Or you can follow me and we can celebrate the holiday in a much more merry fashion. Your choice love.” She told him, pulling away, pressing a soft kiss on his cheek and sashaying across the dance floor, hips swinging all the way.
Now all she had to do is wait to see if he would come after her.
