- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Continuing to stare at Stefan’s face she saw the moment a fury came over him before he launched himself at Damon. She moved quicker than normal, moving out of the way at the last second before she heard two bodies collide and she ran, full tilt, towards the exit of the caves. She wanted to stay, wanted to make sure that both men were alright, but again, she knew she couldn’t. She had to get the hell out of there because if she didn’t, she knew that Stefan would be distracted and that could only get him hurt worse.
Unfortunately it didn’t take her long to get a bit lost in the caves but she kept on until she found a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. She finally found the exit and was able to get out, though she was now thanks to Damon’s grip in pain and also a bit more dirty than she had been when she had entered the cave. Gripping onto her necklace around her neck she prayed that Stefan was okay and that he would come out no worse for the wear. She wished she could have helped him but all she would do was put him in more danger and anger the two vampires even more.
She hated to admit it but there was a small part of her that also worried for Stefan’s self control if something happened and he lost himself. She knew that he had his humanity turned back on and everything but he was still battling to try and overcome his recent stint into ripper territory and she didn’t want to see what would happen if he and Damon both turned on her. Not that she thought that would happen but she knew that he had problems controlling himself and it was clear that Damon had completely lost his mind.
She would admit that it hurt her that Damon didn’t remember her. They had grown a lot closer over the past several months and for him to just somehow forget her…it seemed a bit too fishy to her. She had a feeling that it was thanks to one original or another compelling him, but that would mean that he had been off vervain which worried her. Damon and Stefan had taken to consuming vervain on a daily basis to protect themselves from compulsion (well, that was why now, it had started so they would never be able to be ‘vervained’ again) and if Damon had stopped taking it they needed to know when and why.
Waiting was torture but that was all she could do…wait and pray that everything was okay.

The moments after Stefan went after his brother were all a blur. He recalled Damon acting as if everything he had done was a big joke somehow, like him threatening Elena and fighting him was just a fun game he invented. If he truly had lost his memory, it would have made sense. Damon without his humanity enjoyed causing chaos and hurting everyone around Stefan. And after seconds of a scuffle, Stefan lost his grip on Damon, and his brother slipped away. And somehow, the younger brother was now alone. But he didn’t take too much time to think on why. The older brother might be hunting after Elena. So without a second thought, he bolted through the caves’ twisty paths, searching for the exit with every sense he had available to him. His enhanced sight and smell made the caves easy for him to traverse, but a pang of worry raced through him for Elena. Had she made it out alright? Beside Damon, there were probably plenty of chances that she could get turned around in the strange and pitch black tunnels. Seeing the glint of moonlight ahead, Stefan pressed himself to move faster, and finally he was out of the caverns. He could practically feel Elena nearby, and without too much trouble, he found her not too far from the cave’s entrance. ”Hey.” He said in a half sigh, relieved to see she had escaped and that Damon was nowhere near. Instinctually, he reached out to pull her into a gentle embrace. He had seen the fear and confusion in Elena’s eyes as his brother threatened her, and he needed to know that she was alright, to feel that her heart had stopped beating so fast. Stefan had to admit that he himself was a bit afraid and confused at Damon’s behavior, wondering how exactly the memory loss had happened. But there was one certain thing about the entire situation—it did not bode well for any of them. Taking down Klaus or whatever other threats that were coming to Mystic Falls would only be more difficult with Damon trying to be a pain in his ass and threatening his girlfriend. Stefan’s hold loosened, but only enough so that he could look Elena in the eye, ”Are you alright?’ he asked, despite knowing what she would answer. She probably wouldn’t want him to worry and say that she was fine but they should go after Damon. Once again, he had to admit that following his brother was the right thing to do. Looking up from his love’s eyes and gazing out into the woods, Stefan could vaguely make out his brother’s scent. From the general direction it was coming from, and knowing his brother too well, Stefan made his theory known, ”I think Damon’s gone back to the boarding house. He’ll think he’s safe there.” After a moment of thought, he proposed an idea, ”Let’s take your car there. If anything bad happens, I want you to have a way to escape. Damon’s too unpredictable right now.” Really, Stefan would have probably preferred confronting Damon on his own, but knew Elena much too well to expect her to just stay behind. +++ TAGS: Damon, Elena WORD COUNT: 532 NOTES: ~

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon ran out of the cave with vamparic speed and felt confused. Something was blocking him, he didn't know what was blocking his mind, it was like he was missing something. He ran into the woods and then went back to the Salvatore household. He went into his room with a bottle of rum, he needed a drink. He needed to understand why he didn't bite Elena. It would have been so easy, but it wasn't. Damon wasn't sure what to do right now, he knew Stefan would be coming back any second now to confront him, his brother was just so predictable, but what could he say?
Damon sat on the couch with the bottle of rum and drank from it. There was a lot on his mind right now and he wasn't entirely sure what he'd do in this town. He had a motive and all of that was just messed up in one day, he had to think it through somehow. There had to be a new plan that still involved making his brother's life hell, but what? Damon wanted to stay in this town for many reasons and one of them was just to bother his brother non-stop and the other was to find out what Katherine had been up to. He also wanted to find out more about Elena and this doppelganger shit.
There was so much that he had missed in this town including this Klaus, he didn't really know who this Klaus was but he wanted to find out more about him and possibly kill him if he was hurting Katherine in any way. It was good to be back but in a way it felt like he never felt, he just assumed he was going crazy. He just kept on drinking until his thinking went to a minimum. He didn't know what he would plan now, there was kind of nothing to do, all Damon could do was be a shit disturber and that would be fun for a little bit but get boring pretty fast.
Damon decided to do some snooping and even though it was his house and there was probably nothing to find he decided to go in his brother's room. He wondered what he could find in there. He rummaged through his brother's room leaving everything everywhere for no reason, there was no point in this and it didn't have to make sense at all, Damon was just being himself. That's when he found it, Stefan's diary. He wondered what he'd find in there, Damon went back downstairs and to the couch and drank while reading the diary. There was probably things about Elena and Stefan's life here or something it could be boring to read but it looked like his night just got a little more interesting.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She jumped as she realized that Stefan had seemingly materialized right in front of her. She was used to this, at least she had been, but with the craziness of the night she was already spooked, add to his reappearing trick, and she was a tad freaked out. Feeling his relief as he pulled her into his arms she rested her head against his chest, breathing out through her nose as she tried to calm her racing heart. She didn’t like seeing the two brothers fight for any reason, but this had been terrible. She had no idea why Damon didn’t remember them, but it scared her to think of him going back to the way he had been upon first arriving in Mystic Falls.
Hearing his question she nodded, pulling away slightly in order to look at him. “Stefan what happened? Where’s Damon?” She asked, looking around but seeing no sign of him anywhere. She knew Stefan wouldn’t kill him for many reasons, one of which was that she doubted he carried around a stake and from what she had seen down in the cave there hadn’t been any wood, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t break his neck which would temporarily incapacitate him long enough for the two of them to get away.
She didn't have to wait long for his answer as she heard that Damon was heading back to the boarding house. She didn't ask Stefan how he knew that because she could pretty much take a guess. Not only did she know that vampires senses, including their sense of smell, were heightened which meant he could probably catch his older brother’s scent in order to track him, but she also knew that Stefan had spent a long time trying to avoid Damon because of his promise of eternal misery, which meant that Stefan had come to know Damon’s habits in order to avoid him.
It was sad but true.
She nodded and led the way to her car, staying close to her boyfriend in order to keep him in her sights. She also kept a look out for any others that she knew since technically no one was supposed to know that Stefan had his humanity back on. Luckily Klaus had compelled him to protect her so seeing the two of them together wasn’t unusual, though he was being too nice to her in public. She should have reminded him about this but couldn’t find it in herself to want him to stop his sweet manner so kept it in, hoping she wouldn’t regret it.
It didn’t take her long to find the car, nor did it take her long to drive them to the boarding house, knowing the way like the back of her hand. Once she pulled into the driveway she slid out of the car, leaving her purse inside and slipping her keys deep inside her pocket so that she had them in case she had to get away. “After you.” She stated, letting the younger Salvatore lead the way.
This would be quite interesting.

It was good to have Elena’s car along, not only because it was his girlfriend’s best method of escape, but because Stefan wanted all his strength to be used to defend against anything Damon might do and not be wasted on running. The entire car ride, Stefan wanted to say something reassuring or something that would make Elena calm down, but he was as lost as she was as to why Damon was acting this way, so he remained mostly silent. The drive over was so quick that he hardly had time to think of what he was going to do when he did have to confront his brother. He had never been very good at it in the past, but then again, with Elena hanging in the balance, Stefan understood things had to change. After the car stopped, he was over at Elena’s side in an instant, wondering if she had thought of any plan to subdue or get through to Damon. But it seemed that she just wanted to go in and work from there. Stefan nodded as he approached the door first, thankful that Elena was allowing him to lead. He didn’t like patronizing her, but Damon had threatened to hurt her in the caves. If that was going to be the case here at the boarding house, Stefan was going to be sure to have his body create a wall between his brother and his girl at all times. In another stroke of good fortune, the front door had remained unlocked and Stefan made his way through silently, closing the door behind Elena. Inside, Damon’s scent was relatively easy to pick up, and it led them to the living room, where Damon was sitting on the couch, reading. He was reading a very familiar book to Stefan. ”Seeing anything you like in there?” Stefan put flatly, a bit irritated, but somehow not surprised that his brother was going through his journal and guzzling down liquor. Between his summer stint as Klaus’ lackey and only recently being brought back closer to his normal self, he hadn’t written in the diary in a long while, but there still was plenty of the last few years in there. Maybe something would click and make Damon remember somehow… or at least make him believe that something was wrong with his memory. He stepped closer to his brother, trying to be aware of where Elena was as well, and crossed his arms, though his face was indifferent and placid. ”Anything ringing any bells? Or do you still think Katherine’s waiting for you?”He may have been acting a little petty, but Stefan was still aggravated by his brother’s threats against Elena. The mixture of his raw emotions and Klaus’ compulsion to keep Elena safe was a potent collection that made it hard to think rationally about the whole ordeal. But fortunately, Stefan was able to keep level headed and his voice held none of the tension or ire that was buzzing around in his skull, ”I’m going to ask again, Damon. What is it that you want?” The sooner they knew what it was that his brother wanted, the sooner that they could get him to listen—and hopefully restore his memories. +++ TAGS: Damon, Elena WORD COUNT: 541 NOTES: Tough brotherly love...? ------------------------------ ------------------------------ Lost. That's what Damon felt like right now. He was at a lost of words right now. He didn't know what to think and he didn't want to think. He had been so confused and he wanted that to go away. Damon just looked at the fire place and watched it burn. Maybe he shouldn't have left Mystic Falls but then again people would catch on to him if he resided in this town plus it would have gotten boring, but he could have made a life here. But he could have died that day without completing the transition but of course Stefan made him feed, Damon kind of felt alone in a way. Maybe it was because he didn't have anyone although Elena said he was her friend...he didn't believe her, he couldn't at least not now.
Damon just kept on reading Stefan's diary. He heard the door open and heard footsteps getting closer. He knew who it was by the scent but just kept reading. "Boring, boring, boring," he said while flipping through the pages. There was actually nothing interesting in this diary but Damon was in it which he didn't get. "You have quite a lot on Elena...interesting," he smirked while reading. Stefan frustrated Damon when he was trying to make him remember something that wasn't in his mind, he didn't need to remember anything. "Yeah, a lot actually. I remember you...and Elena, it's all coming back to me," he stood up looking at them. "Wait a minute...there's nothing to remember," he said with another smile.
Damon was definitely getting a little buzzed now. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to drink but he couldn't help it. "Why so serious little brother? Lighten up, have a drink," he took a sip of the bottle of rum. Damon wasn't going to share but he knew Stefan wasn't going to drink in this situation. "I already told you my game. Someone became a little stupid over the years." Damon didn't really care what Stefan was saying right now, he wasn't in the mood to being confronted by him. "I guess you'll just have to wait and see what happens," he smirked. He didn't have a major plan right now but he'd come up with one.
"I love what you've done with the place," he said sarcastically with a sly smile on his face. Nothing had really changed in this house. "Are you here to save me Elena?" He looked at her being sarcastic again. "Try and convince me that we're friends. What about you Stefan? Is there good in me that I just can't see?" Damon was once again loving this, he still felt weird though. He just wanted this conversation to be done with. "Try and convince me, entertain me," he said with a sly smile. His kid brother and girlfriend acting like they know him when they knew nothing about him although they tried pretending they did. No one was trustworthy, he wasn't going to trust so easily. He probably wouldn't trust them at all, there was nothing they could say to convince him, he just wasn't having it. Damon knew better.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could tell that Stefan had relaxed a tiny bit when he realized that she wasn’t going to storm in and start going ballistic on Damon as she had done many times before. No, she wasn’t that naïve. She could still remember the times that she had spoken with Damon before he had started to really care about her. She could remember how he constantly put her on edge with the way that he talked, not only about himself, but about Stefan. He tried to be casual about it but she had ended up with more than one nightmare about him, not that she would ever tell him that.
She couldn’t really remember when she had started feeling safe around him, though she knew it had been earlier than she probably should have. It was before he had tried to get Katherine out of the tomb, something that bothered her more than she would care to admit. She knew that one of the reasons that he cared about her was because she looked identical to Katherine, or at least that’s how it started. However that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t rip her throat out if she crossed him, and that was the reason that she would allow Stefan to walk into this first. Stefan could walk away since even at his worst Damon had never actually killed Stefan…so she knew that he could take care of himself.
Also the fact that even though Stefan was back to his old self, or at least on his way, he still had a lot of human blood still lingering in his body which meant that they were on even playing field at the time, and she had full faith in her boyfriend that he could take care of not only himself, but her as well.
Following him into the living room she shut the door behind her quietly, though realistically she knew that it would do no good as he could hear everything anyway. She groaned when she saw him going through a journal because she knew what he was looking for. She could remember this exact same scene from what Stefan had told her, except at that time it had been his father’s journal, and it was likely not going to end well for any of them. She briefly thought about calling Katherine and telling her to come over just to get Damon to snap out of it but remembered quickly that Katherine didn't know Stefan was alright and figured this wasn't the time to divulge that particular secret.
She glared when Damon seemed to use sarcasm as a way to push them away. She didn’t believe him for a second that he remembered the two of them in the way that she was sure that Stefan’s journal portrayed them. She wanted to help him, but she honestly had no idea how. “Damon…” She trailed off, not sure how to go about helping him without making things worse. “Tell me what you want us to do. You’re reading a personal journal so clearly the things in there aren’t lies…so why won’t you believe us?” She asked, having a brief idea of a way that he would be forced to believe her but knowing that there was little chance that Stefan would allow it.

”She is my girlfriend.” Stefan put simply, with just a touch of annoyance in his words as Damon pointed out the fact that a great deal of his journal’s contents were about Elena. Really, he couldn’t tell what made him more irritated—when Damon had been insisting on stealing Elena away from him or now where he was a complete dick again, particularly to his girlfriend for some reason. Although, Stefan came to the realization that this was the first time he had actually stated his and Elena’s relationship aloud. He knew that Elena would agree with him, but somehow he felt a little guilty that she so easily forgave him. Then again, since Damon was like this, Stefan needed an ally. And though he was loathe to admit it, Elena’s empathy was probably the one thing that would break through to Damon if anything could. And when he did snap back into reality, his brother would probably need Elena’s forgiveness. As Damon got drunker and more sarcasm spewed out of his mouth, Stefan just crossed his arms and stared his brother down. The younger Salvatore could pretty much assume by the way his brother was drinking and speaking that he didn’t have a plan and he was going to be obstinate and uncooperative until his memories came back just to see if he could bother his little bro as much as he could. Stefan merely rolled his eyes at the offer of a drink and shifted his weight to his other foot to lean towards Elena a bit more. Although Damon kept talking. Sometimes Stefan wondered if Damon liked the sound of his own voice a little too much, or if he was just trying to be more grating. If it hadn’t been for Elena, this was the point where Stefan would figuratively throw up his hands and walk away. But there were bigger things at risk here, and the vampire held firm. It was a mixture of emotions listening to Elena practically beg his brother to give them something to work with. She made a good point that it wouldn’t make sense for a private diary to hold all those things—his concerns about Damon, Katherine’s return to the brother’s hometown, their attempts to prepare for Klaus—if there wasn’t any reason for it. But Stefan was becoming a bit impatient with trying to ask for what Damon wanted. It was probably not a great idea to push his brother into being angry, but being more confident in his strength and speed, Stefan felt he could handle most anything Damon could try, ”You’re not thinking as clearly as you’d like to think you are. If you truly had just arrived in Mystic Falls, trying to ruin my life, don’t you think I would have asked you leave?” In fact, that’s exactly how Stefan had tried to do those few years back. It was only recently that Stefan had begun trying to show his brother the good in him. A good that was sparked by Elena. Before then, Stefan had mostly avoided his brother, ”You don’t think it’s strange at all that I’m not giving up on you?” But frankly, Stefan wasn’t sure that his words would affect Damon at all. He would only have to hope that Elena could do better. +++ TAGS: Damon, Elena WORD COUNT: 553 NOTES: Oh, dear. Don't do anything crazy :3

------------------------------ ------------------------------ "Yeah I realized that. I think someone needs a hobby," Damon said with a simple tight smile. He understood that Elena was Stefan's girlfriend but who really writes about their girlfriend on every page. "I think my brother has a slight obsession with you," Damon looked at Elena then went back to read through the journal. He had to admit it was weird how Stefan mentioned Damon in a few pages, like he was in this town before. But why should he believe some journal? He wasn't here, if he was in this town already then he would have remembered, simple as that. Why were they trying to make him remember something that was obviously not there. Why did they care for him so much when he had never really cared for them at all.
Damon didn't want to be here right now but then he did just to piss off the couple, right now they were pissing him off with trying to make him remember whatever it was. Damon just settled in Mystic Falls, before that he was in a different town charming women and compelling, so how would he be here this whole time? Were people just clueless in this town? Maybe his brother felt bad for making him turn against his will or they could be telling the truth, but Damon wasn't going to believe it, they could try and convince him all they want. If they truly knew him then they knew how stubborn he was and he wasn't going to trust instantly, at least not now.
"Then tell me to leave." Stefan was right, usually he would tell Damon to leave but Damon was still not going to believe anything. "Maybe your humanity has actually got in the way and you care for me more than you thought Stefan." Damon was getting irritated now, he didn't like this intervention, if this was what it was. "Give up on me? What exactly are you trying to save me from? the lack of humanity I have? There's no good in me so you can stop trying to act like I do, I never did." Damon wasn't like Stefan, he didn't have humanity and he didn't care for anyone besides Katherine so why were they being so persistent with this topic? He was tired of it and they needed to go but this was Stefan's house also so they probably wouldn't be leaving.
Damon looked at Elena when she said his name. "Oh, now you're going to try and say I have good in me? Bring back some memory of mine?" He said it sarcastically. He was tired of his brother and Elena, what were they exactly trying to do here? With vamparic speed Damon stood in front of his brother who was blocking Elena. "Get it through your thick head that there's nothing to remember," he snapped while lifting up the journal. "This doesn't mean anything. Stop acting like you care." Damon was angry and right now they were pissing him off, they needed to stop it now. He just wanted to enjoy an evening while drinking but these two had to get in the way. There was nothing more to discuss, and they needed to understand that he was never in Mystic Falls until now and when he was human.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She bit her lip to keep a smile from blooming across her face. Ever since Stefan had regained his humanity she had avoided having the relationship talk with him for fear of what he would say. She knew that he loved her and she knew how much she loved him. However she also knew how much he had going on right now so having the burden of dealing with a serious relationship was probably something that he didn’t need. That didn’t stop her heart from feeling as if it would burst at hearing the simple words of Elena is my girlfriend, nor did it stop her heart from speeding up at the knowledge that a lot of Stefan’s journal was about her.
Stepping up beside Stefan she slipped her hand in his flawlessly, giving him a simple squeeze to let him know that she was with him all the way…that she would stand by him through whatever. They were a team and she wouldn’t let anyone take that away from them. She rolled her eyes at his comment about Stefan being obsessed with her. “Uhh in case you have short term memory los…oh wait…bad joke…anyway, I’m his girlfriend, which means that it’s probably a good thing that I’m in there. If you’d like to know the truth, my diary has more of him than is probably healthy too.” She stated, trying to be as patient as she could be while biting her tongue to keep from lashing out at the elder Salvatore brother.
She listened to Stefan trying to reason with his older brother in a slightly more impatient tone than her own. Stefan and Damon had always rubbed each other the wrong way until something pitted them to each other and forced them to work side by side. For the past year it had been her who had forced the brothers to get along simply because she was constantly in the middle of one problem or another and they both loved her. She didn’t even think that in a snobby way, just a factual way. She knew that Damon was in love with her, or at least as in love with her as he could possibly be, but it didn’t matter. She loved Stefan, and that would never change.
Figuring that she might as well do whatever she could to get Damon to believe her she took off her necklace and her bracelet, placing them on the table next to her. She stepped around Stefan and stood in front of Damon. “Vervain free. Ask me if we are lying now.” She stated simply, knowing that she was probably going to hear it from Stefan later but trusting that if anything happened he would protect her. If this was the only way to get Damon to listen to them then that’s what she would have to do. She didn’t like the feeling of having no protection from compulsion at the moment but she knew that this was possibly the only way to get it through his head that they weren’t lying.
These were the days that she hated having a strong conscience.

It was very difficult to not roll his eyes or rest his palm against his forehead when his brother was being so… obstinate. Stefan, though he was getting annoyed, was not about to let his brother see that. That would mean Damon would have won. And it wasn’t completely out of the sibling rivalry that Stefan refused to let Damon win. To a certain extent, the sooner Damon realized something was wrong with him, the sooner they could get things back to normal. There was also the whole sibling rivalry thing. Right now, Damon was becoming more agitated than Stefan, so the younger Salvatore was a little more content with how things stood. You had to get through the worst of it to get to the truth of the matter. And also, Elena’s fingers enlaced with his gave him a soothing sort of strength. Whatever was wrong with Damon, the two of them were the people who cared about him the most. If any two people could fix this, it would be them. ”You do have good in you, Damon, even now.” Stefan asserted, but didn’t elaborate. But it was true. If Damon truly had wanted to devastate his brother, all he had to do was snap Elena’s neck as soon as he arrived on the scene. But he didn’t. Even with his memories gone, there was something deep within Damon that knew the truth. And that was probably his humanity, buried deeply in his subconscious. But then again, there was nothing he could say to Damon that he would believe. He was going off on Elena now, and Stefan knew that something had to happen in order to calm his brother down, or else they would lose the chance to help him remember. But he was at a loss as far as anything he could do. If Damon’s mind was at a point where he wanted to torment his younger brother, Stefan was sure nothing he could say would convince the other vampire. All the trust he had worked to build within the last year was gone. It might have been gone anyway since he had left with Klaus, but at least that Damon didn’t want to make him suffer. It was strange how much Stefan felt hurt by this. He had lived with Damon hating him for over one-hundred years… was it so different now, just because they had started to reconnect? In any case, Stefan was allowing his emotions to take over him, and now wasn’t the time. He brushed them away, and looked to Elena, who had released the grip on his hand. And then his girlfriend took off the vervain laced jewelry. Immediately Stefan felt a pit form in his stomach and he had to restrain himself from stepping in front of her and making sure that there was something between his brother and her. But he just let his lips form a thin line instead. It was probably the quickest way to confirm they weren’t lying. And he would give Elena his trust. He gave his brother a hard glare, ”Don’t hurt her.” Because if he saw anything that he thought even looked like Elena would be harmed from it, he wouldn’t hesitate to snap Damon’s neck. +++ TAGS: Damon, Elena WORD COUNT: 543 NOTES: D: ...I thought I had replied to this. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon was tired of this now. He was bored and he didn't want to be in this room any longer and he wanted to leave but of course he couldn't, his brother wouldn't let him at least not yet. Whatever this talk was about. Saving him or making him remember, it was pissing him off. He knew that there was a possibility that these two could be the telling the truth but he just didn't want to believe it, he refused to. Unless he had further proof of this then maybe he would. Damon honestly couldn't understand how Elena could handle Stefan, he was always trying to change people when really there was no changing at all people just become the person they truly were all along.
Damon had to roll his eyes at this and was getting angry once again. His brother needed to stop this, trying to help him, there was no need for it. "You don't know me Stefan! You never did." Stefan and Damon had lost touch years ago and even when they did see each other once in a while it still wasn't the real Damon, Stefan didn't know that part of Damon. "Okay, great both of you write about each other aren't you just the perfect couple." The most boring couple award goes to Stefan and Elena! Writing in a diary about each other, how cheesy could it get? Damon couldn't listen to one more word of it. He just wanted to tune them out, all he could hear was ranting right now.
Damon looked at Elena curiously. She was taking her vervain bracelet off? This girl was crazy but Damon didn't mind he liked a little crazy. "Scared?" He said to Stefan. He looked into Elena's eyes ready to compel her. "Come closer Elena." He waited for her to come closer. "Kiss me," he said with a smirk. He gave Stefan a grin and kissed Elena longer than a normal kiss just to piss off his brother. After the kiss he looked at her again. "Now, tell me everything that's happened in your life when you found out about vampires." He wanted to know the truth, he knew she was compelled or else she would have never kissed him.
Damon was having fun with this actually, he enjoyed it and he kind of wasn't bored anymore. "Now, after our little talk I want you to get a knife and...stab Stefan in the stomach, if he resists...kill yourself," he said with a sly smile. He wondered what his brother would do in this situation. Damon could have said stake but that wouldn't be fun at all. "Oh yeah, now that I have had my fun, I want you to forget the kiss." For some reason he didn't want Elena remembering it, he wasn't sure why. "Isn't this fun Stefan? I'm having a blast." This was more like it, things were different now and Damon could have his fun. He couldn’t believe Elena was stupid enough to take her vervain bracelet off. “Before you go Elena give me the bracelet, let’s just say…you lost it for now.” He knew Stefan could probably could get another one but maybe this one held significance to the both of them, Damon didn’t know.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She knew she should be frightened but she wasn’t. Oh, she was afraid of Damon with this attitude, but she trusted Stefan enough to know that he would protect her if something went wrong. Stefan had always put her well being first…though sometimes she knew that was a challenge when she herself wasn’t as concerned with her well being as the well being of others. She knew this had to be killing him, to allow her to walk into the lion’s den so to speak without anything to protect her with. However he had always respected her choices to make decisions and he was once again doing that now…she had missed that.
Staring into Damon’s eyes she wasn’t surprised when his pupil’s started to dilate and he ordered her to come to him. Her brain fought against the intrusion but her body wouldn’t seem to work right. She felt her legs walking without her permission and moved so that she was standing in front of him. Hearing his next order there were two parts of her. Her heart screamed at her not to do what he said, but her brain told her that there was no use fighting it and a small part of her was glad that this happened because she had always been curious as to what kissing Damon would feel like. Pressing her lips to hers she was surprised at the fact that it didn’t completely disgust her to kiss him, though her heart was in pain at the thought of hurting Stefan. She continued to kiss him until he pulled away, since the compulsion forced her to do whatever he said.
Hearing his next order she nodded and spoke in a monotone voice. “I met Stefan first. I didn’t find out until later that he actually pulled me from the car that went over Wickery Bridge. He saved my life that night. However the first time that I was conscious for was the first day of Junior year. I fell for him instantly. You and I met a few days later when I went to see Stefan who wasn’t there. You tried to compel me to kiss you but Stefan had already protected me against it and I ended up hitting you. I found out that Caroline was with you and at the Founder’s party I saw bite marks on her neck. I confronted both you and Stefan, getting mad at both of you because neither of you would do what I asked. Stefan wouldn’t stop you and you wouldn’t stop yourself.” She told him, continuing on her long story of vampires entering her life.
“Stefan spiked Caroline’s drink with vervain so when you fed on her you dropped and he locked you in the basement. Several days went by before you were able to call to Caroline and have her let you out. You killed your nephew Zach who had tried to stop you. Lexi came and you figured how to get the council off your tail by killing Lexi. Stefan tried to kill you but he couldn’t. More little things happened but we finally found out that you were here to get Katherine out of the tomb. You tried and found out that she wasn’t actually in the tomb to which you lost it. You then decided to stay in Mystic Falls with me and Stefan, Stefan tried to tell you it was because you felt something for me…to which you proved one night by kissing Katherine though you thought it was me.”
“That’s right around the time that we found out about the originals. Elijah was first and we feared him, but found out later that it was actually Klaus that we had to fear. I am the Petrova doppelganger and he wanted to use me for a sacrifice. We all worked as hard as we could to prevent it but we couldn’t and he ended up sacrificing a werewolf by the name of Jules, he turned my aunt Jenna into a vampire and then sacrificed me, and at the end he sacrificed me. It was only because of Bonnie’s spell and my Uncle John’s sacrifice that I am still alive. Unfortunately you were bitten by a werewolf and didn’t tell us until after the sacrifice had gone down. We went to Bonnie’s ancestor’s for help and they gave a name, Klaus. So Stefan went to Klaus to beg for his help. He gave him what he needed, for a trade. Fifty years of servitude from him, to which he gave. Stefan ended up being compelled to turn off his humanity and only recently got it back thanks to Lexi who had been brought back somehow.” She finally finished, giving the barest of details but enough to get the basic outline of what had gone on in Mystic Falls.
Her eyes widened as she was compelled to stab Stefan in the stomach or kill herself if she didn't. She picked up the knife but fought against the compulsion as best as she could. She couldn't stab him, but she could feel her hands being raised seemingly of their own accord. She didn't want to hurt him, but she knew that she had no choice.

Damon’s assertion that his younger brother didn’t understand him were cutting, but not because of his tone or even the words themselves. It was because Stefan understood that he was to blame for everything that had happened to them. Perhaps Stefan didn’t like seeing his brother like this because this older version of Damon reminded him that Damon had been perfectly justified in hating him to some extent. But his brother’s bitterness extended beyond that. His remark about being a perfect couple might have been his jealousy showing, since it was something that he didn’t have with Katherine. But soon enough, Stefan wasn’t thinking about his brother at all, much too busy worrying about Elena and hoping that somewhere in Damon, something remembered that he cared for her deeply. Stefan wasn’t sure what he would do if any harm befell his girl. His brother goading him about being scared… was true. He was slightly terrified that Elena would get hurt. But Damon was just what he always was—a dick. Seeing Elena kiss his brother… hurt. But it was more annoying than anything else, since Damon was doing it just to bother him. It probably would have been more devastating if Damon remembered being in love with her. Or would that have even mattered? Stefan just let his gaze go straight ahead, his expression staying more or less neutral, but his eyes intense and unwavering. If he let anything out, he’d probably fall apart and do something stupid, and as Elena spoke, compelled to tell the absolute truth, Stefan was more and more confident that this was the proof Damon couldn’t deny. Of course, listening to this was probably making his brother irate… or bored. Either way, it led him to order Elena to stab him… or kill herself. The choice was obvious to Stefan. He’d heal from a stab wound in a matter of seconds. It would be painful, certainly, but he had been stabbed many times before, and the stomach wasn’t such a horrible placed to be stabbed, as compared to his head or something like that. As she approached him, he could see the trepidation in Elena’s eyes, but all that did was make him step closer, ”Elena. I’ll be fine,” Stefan attempted to assure her, standing his ground as the knife was raised. There was a wet thud as the metal buried itself in his flesh, and he doubled over as the sharp, searing pain coursed through him. He placed his hand over the knife’s handle, and yanked it away from Elena, drawing it out of his stomach so the healing process could begin. Stumbling over to a decanter left on low bookshelf, he flung the blade down and awkwardly poured himself a drink with one hand, holding his other over the wound to help staunch the blood flow, which had already lessened to a small trickle. Stefan continued to listen to Damon’s orders, forgetting the kiss and handing over the bracelet. It was strange, considering that Elena would still had the necklace he had given her to protect her from compulsion, but maybe there was something about Damon that subconsciously wanted her to remain safe. Although when Damon made his joke about everything being much more fun, the younger Salvatore merely rolled his eyes, ”Oh, yeah. It’s a party now.” But the wound on his stomach was nearly healed, or at least had stopped bleeding, and he returned to Elena’s side, sipping the bourbon to help with the pain. He wanted to grab Elena and go back to the Gilbert’s, but he didn’t want to turn his back on Damon until an understanding had been reached. +++ TAGS: Damon, Elena WORD COUNT: 611 NOTES: Awww, Stefan :c *hides him safely in a broom closet*

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon wasn't going to believe them even if he compelled her, or maybe she wasn't going to be compelled and was going to try and trick him. He could see that happening, maybe this was all some plan to make Damon believe them, it had to be no doubt about it. Damon wasn't going to fall for it though he was too smart for that. He just didn't know what to do at this point. All he knew was that he was having fun with this whole thing. Maybe he was enjoying it too much. He didn't care though; it wasn't like he knew Elena and he liked pissing his brother off so it was all good. Or this wasn’t a trick at all and Elena was just crazy in trusting Damon, but he didn’t want to kill her, he wasn’t going to.
Damon kissed Elena pretending to be passionate. He didn't feel all that wrong to be honest, in a way he kind of felt happy. God, he was turning like his brother feeling good about a doppelganger kiss. He then listened to what she had to say. He took in every word although he didn't want to hear it. "That's enough. I'm not sure if you're storytelling or if this is actually...the truth." Maybe he should believe them. But he didn't let people in so easily. Damon's eyes widened to all of the things she said but tried to pretend he was just bored with everything. "What a mouthful. your girlfriend talks forever Stefan," he said while looking at his fingers. He wanted this conversation to be over and to be honest he was just ready for them to leave; he needed to process it all.
Damon watched Elena walk to Stefan feeling hesitant. "Come on Elena it shouldn't be that hard. Didn't he try to suck your blood at some point? He's a vampire or maybe the times he hurt you. Stab him," Damon said with a smirk. He watched Elena stab him and glee came in Damon's eyes. He liked seeing his brother hurt. The fun was over though, there was nothing left for them to do or say. He heard it all from them so they should just leave. Damon had his fun and that was what it was all about. He could care less now and all he wanted to do was grab a drink. He wondered what the two were thinking at the moment, did they really think they could save him? Even if he did forget there was no chance of saving him and to be honest he didn’t even want to be saved if he did, he liked this better. He felt no pain besides for Katherine which was okay.
"Such a party. Are we done here?" Damon was ready for them to leave although it was both the Salvatore's house. Damon was tired and bored of this conversation. "You tried to save me. The things I'm doing are morally wrong let's skip the speech." He was ready to just be alone and if they didn't leave then he'd just walk out or do worse to them. "Give up Stefan. And I don't know why you're helping Elena." He didn't understand why they needed to help Damon, there was no point and they cared too much about him for some reason. He didn't care for them so why did they? There was no point in this, they should just give up and leave, it was that simple. Damon watched the couple, he wondered what they would say next.
