- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Hearing Elijah’s comment about being an older sibling made her start for a moment. She had never really thought about living for longer than the normal human average of 70 or so years. However in that moment she had a thought of her, hundreds of years old, and trying to still be an older sibling. It was completely insane to even think such things since even if she had been turned into a vampire one of the several times it had been threatened upon her, she wouldn’t be an older sibling after 50 years or so since she would be the only one living forever, Jeremy wouldn’t.
She shivered at the thought of outliving her younger brother and pushed the morbid picture away, not wanting to think about it anymore. That was honestly one of her worst fears. It wasn’t why people would think it was either. She didn’t fear the bloodlust for she knew that eventually she would get a handle on that. She didn’t fear the speed or the agility or the heightened emotions. Sure they worried her a bit but those weren’t what kept her up at night with nightmares of becoming a vampire.
She feared being left behind.
Sure she knew that if she ever became a vampire she would have Caroline and Tyler in her life forever since technically they were both immortal. Stefan would be there for her she knew for all eternity if she asked him to be, and even though Damon hated the fact that she and Stefan were together, he would be there as well.
But what about all those that would leave her behind?
Jeremy, Matt, Bonnie, Alaric, they would all grow up…have families…kids…grandkids and eventually die. And she would be stuck at whatever age she was turned at. That was her nightmare, that was what scared her.
And that was the reason that she couldn’t ever see becoming a vampire.
Realizing that Elijah was talking she listened to what he said before her eyes widened at the wink. “Seriously?” She whispered. “Is he okay?” She asked, praying that Damon was alright. She didn’t need to ask who Elijah was talking about because really, who else would Klaus compel to forget his memories? Yeah, only Damon. Actually she was surprised he hadn’t done that to Stefan but thanked everything above that he didn’t.
She couldn’t imagine how hard that would have been if Stefan would have had no memories of anything.

----------------------- ----------------------- He nodded when Elena asked him if he was serious, “Yes only moments ago and yes he is alright” He whispered back “It takes time to heal, and he’s strong he will get there he’s stronger than most give him credit for” Elijah did admire that about the Salvatores they were strong that was for sure. He had seen and ran into many vampires over the years but none of them could hold a candle to those boys. They fought for what they wanted and even though they are younger than him, they had qualities and things in their lives that he did not. He would always admire them for that.
He knew that Damon was angry with him right now, and he had every right to be considering the rocky past he shared with him. He did betray them yes but he vowed that he wouldn’t do it again. He wanted nothing more than to live in peace and maybe with time, he could even befriend the elder Salvatore. Only time would tell. He looked over at Elena again and said ``It is only a matter of time before he comes to see I think, he just needs to sort some things out getting your memories back can be quite a process`` He knew all too well. This was not the first time that he had to clean up his families messes, including using his compulsion to erase memories from Klaus other threats over the years. He knew his brother was running scared even though he wouldn`t admit it. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She wanted to hug Elijah for helping Damon, though she doubted either she or he would be comfortable with that outward display of gratitude. "Thank you." She whispered softly, though it was not just for her. She knew that even though Damon drove them all crazy, that they all cared about him...she and Stefan the most. She hated to admit it to herself, let alone anyone else, but there was a part of her that did feel something for Damon. It didn't come close to the magnitude of what she felt for Stefan, but it was still there...and she was the last person to realize it.
She felt relief fill through her at the thought of Damon not only being okay but also remembering everything that had gone on between all of them over the past year. It had hurt her more than she cared to admit when he had compelled her to not only kiss him, but to spill her guts about everything right in front of Stefan. She knew that Stefan was aware of most of it since it did mostly involve him as well, but there had been a few things that he hadn’t known and while she would never keep anything from him, there hadn’t been time to talk it all out yet. She hated seeing the look on Stefan’s face (though it hadn’t registered until after her necklace had been put back on and she had realized what she had done) when he heard that she had kissed Damon at the same time he was giving up his freedom to Klaus in order to save his brother.
So her relief was not all for her, but for Stefan as well. Even though Damon drove Stefan crazy and hurt him in ways that she could not even begin to imagine, he was still his brother and he still loved him, no matter how deeply it was buried.
Realizing she had let herself zone out she turned her attention back to Elijah in time to hear his next words. “I can’t even imagine not remembering who I am. The look on his face when he first thought I was Katherine was something I’ll never forget.” She told him honestly. “As for him showing up, I doubt it. He’s going to go off and sulk for awhile and then go home and pick a fight with whoever is there to fight with him. He tends to not get upset, he gets angry and does something stupid. I’ll have to go over there and deal with him later.” She stated with a tone full of knowledge. She knew Damon better than most and had called him out on his stuff more than once.

----------------------- ----------------------- He listened intently to her; she was glad that Damon was alright. That he would create a few problems before he would eventually settle. This was no surprise for Elijah who had seen Damon go through this a few times before. The man did have a temper. Elijah arose from his chair then folded his jacket to button it up. His time with Elena had come to a close. If he had things his way he would spend more time with her, but as much affection that he had for Elena, he was a gentlemen. She was spoken for and he wished to be appropriate. He enjoyed spending this time with her, and wished it could be done more often. Sadly now was not the time. He had Rebekah waiting for him at home, she was upset about all of the attention that Elena had been getting and tonight was no exception. He knew that the original vampire was jealous of Elena. For all of the years that Rebekah had on this earth, she was still a teenage girl at heart.
He went over to Elena and said "I`m sorry Elena but I`m afraid that our time has come to a close I have to meet my sister she is upset about someone” He said with a small smile. It did not take a genius to figure out whom Elijah was talking about. He was just trying his best to be polite to the doppelganger. He then asked “Walk me out?” With a small smile. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She nodded briefly at Elijah and smiled. “I understand. An older sibling’s job is never done it seems.” She told him before almost as if on cue her cell phone went off. Opening it she laughed. “It’s a text from Jeremy. He got stuck at work.” She told him with a roll of her brown eyes. “Figures, he forgets to text me and tell me that he’s stuck at work until he’s heading home from work. He’s glad I didn’t call the national guard out on him. With everything going on around here he’s lucky I haven’t had his butt chipped with a GPS locator chipped.” She told him with a laugh before standing up and heading towards the door.
“Thank you for coming by and talking to me. You have my information if you need to talk some more. I will try and keep all conversations from being overheard and if I do have a conversation that is spoken I’ll refrain from talking about you.” She told him with a smile. She wasn’t sure why she tended to trust Elijah when she really had no reason for it. She really should be against him as they had a plan to destroy Klaus and he had let them down. Granted now she was glad for this since if he would have destroyed Klaus then Stefan, Damon, Caroline, all of them would be gone…so in essence she was grateful for it…but it didn’t change the fact that he had betrayed them.
Yet for some reason she still trusted him, and she was relieved by that. She needed someone within enemy lines so to speak in order to get information on what said enemy was doing. She didn’t trust Klaus as far as she could throw him so having someone who knew him helped ease her anxiety a bit.
“Goodnight Elijah.” She told him, blinking and seeing that he was already gone. This didn’t surprise her as it once would having been around vampires so often that little things such as speed and agility didn’t seem to even register with her anymore. Closing the door behind her she went back into the living room, turning the television on and getting ready for her and Jeremy’s movie night. She wanted to spend a night with her brother as they hadn’t spent much time together recently and she wanted to make sure that he was still doing alright. She knew that his break up with Bonnie plus the whole seeing dead people thing had been playing on his mind and she needed to be there for him.
After all that was what older siblings did.
