Watching her roll his eyes at him, he raised his own eyebrows to her, though she probably couldn't see his expression. While slayers had most of the same powers that vampires had, they each had their own drawbacks. Vampires couldn't walk in the daylight, but they had night vision. "Bookworm? Maybe, but I wouldn't call myself Giles" he said with a bit of a smirk. It was well known that Giles was the biggest bookworm in town. Angel didn't think of himself as much of a bookworm at all, rather he simply found books to be more scholarly than television. Plus...reading books came in handy. Most demons he came across he already knew what species they were, what their weaknesses were, and how to kill them. Unlike Buffy, he didn't have to waste the time researching the demon and going back to kill him at a later time.
Although he hadn't planned on arguing with her about it, she conceded nonetheless. Noticing the pouty look on her face through the darkness only widened his smirk. "Fine. But it has to be a small one, and an old one, otherwise I won't know how to work it." With this he offered her a small smile though again, doubted she'd see it. Relationships were all about compromise and he had no problem compromising on such unimportant things like this. Not that they were technically in a relationship at the moment...Speaking of which, he had his plan for just that. However it wasn't something he could do right now, though the plan was simply waiting to fall into action. Perhaps after the Glory ordeal has been solved.
As his grin turned into a frown, his eyebrows narrowed in on his decently sized forehead. "First of all, I'm not even close to three hundred" he stated matter-of-factly. With a huff he took a moment to think before speaking again. His hand on her hip ceased moving and simply stood against her warm skin. "Secondly...I invited you here, shouldn't you be doing the entertaining?" he asked mischievously. It was slightly out of character for him to tease her in response but hey, the entire night had been out of character. What had turned into an uneventful night of patrolling with Faith had come to be a massive drama fest. Not something he much enjoyed, nonetheless.
The both of them fell silent for a moment and deep down he knew she was about to ask him something. It seemed that he always knew what she was thinking, despite the fact that she probably didn't like it. For a moment his thumb began tracing the line of her shorts again. As she asked her question, the thumb abruptly stopped moving and lied in place once again. Eyes shut for a moment before reopening and simply looking up to the ceiling.
"I'm fine."

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She made a disgusted face at his statement about not being Giles. “Thank god for that. I mean I know I’m into older men and all, but that’s a bit disturbing for my tastes thank you very much.” She told him with a shiver, which only about half of it was fake. She didn’t even want to think about Giles in a relationship with someone his own age, let alone anyone her age. She would definitely need therapy for even thinking of the idea. She wondered briefly if Joshua would counsel her, at least it would give him something to do while they were bored at work.
Thinking about her own comment reminded her of a time back when she and Riley had talked about how old Spike was. She had been under the influence of Willow’s spell and had been engaged to Spike.
Wow. Who is this guy? Does he go here? Spike? Oh, no. He's totally old. Old. Well not as old as my last boyfriend was.
For some reason the memory caused a laugh to leave her lips without her even realizing it. She didn’t know if Angel heard it as he talked about getting an old television but that just reinforced her giggles and caused her to let out an even louder laugh, closing her eyes as she buried her head into Angel’s chest in order to stop them. Clearly it had been a very emotional day and instead of curling up in bed sobbing as she had originally thought about, her laughter was a way to let the emotions out. Wasn’t the most quiet or discrete thing there was but at least she was able to let out her emotions without leaving the bed.
There was an upside to everything.
Taking a deep breath she controlled her breathing as best as she could, bringing up her sweater clad hand to wipe away the tears that had fallen from her eyes due to her laughter. “First of all…” She stated in a low voice, clearly mocking Angel. “You are 250 if I am remembering my numbers right.” She told him, remembering all those years ago him telling her In two hundred and forty three I’ve loved exactly one person. “Which honestly is close enough to three hundred.” She stated with a wink. “Second of all, you’re the man. I’m the helpless maiden who has no original thoughts in her head. Isn’t that the time that you were from?” She asked, clearly enjoying their teasing.
Calming down once again she moved her head away from his chest, pushing herself so that she was eye level with him instead of being a bit further down. Again her hand rested against his cheek gently. “Liar.” She told him simply. “I know you’re not someone who talks about their feelings much, but know you can talk to me if you need to.”

Oh, that truly was a disturbing thought. Her and Giles. Or rather Giles with anyone as young as her was a frightening thought. All men had needs and Angel was quite aware of that himself. However Giles...well it wasn't something he wanted to think about. Shaking his head and making his own look of disgust he couldn't help but furrow his brows. "Great. You may have just given me nightmares" he said jokingly, his eyes rolling in the back of his head.
Out of the blue Buffy fell into a giggling fit to which he couldn't help but smile. He wasn't sure where it'd come from but he doubted it was because of what he said concerning the television. His eyebrows narrowed into a 'V' shape as he looked down on her, confused, though a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Do I even want to ask?" he said darkly, wondering if it was something he'd want to hear. Sometimes she tended to have....peculiar thoughts, thoughts that sometimes shouldn't be turned into words. Whereas most of Angel's dialogue was in his head, most of hers was actually verbal. When her thoughts were in her head it usually meant it was something completely random, and often quite twisted.
Glaring at her as she mocked his voice, he pretended to be offended. Clearly it was all a game. Though it wasn't like him, the teasing and laughing was a nice relief to the night they'd had. Every once in a while one needed to laugh. "You're right, two hundred and fifty. Soon to be two hundred and fifty one...but we're not letting anyone in on that little secret." Angel hated the fact that he even remembered his birthday. When one was as old as him it didn't mean much, especially considering he was immortal. Mainly he just didn't want Katheryn to be reminded of it, as he knew she'd throw him a party or something as ridiculous as such. A birthday party? Yeah, no thanks. Definitely wasn't something he wanted to endure.
Angel nodded. "It is...but as I've said before, I don't like those kind of women. Hell I didn't even like those kind of women back then...I like you" he said, taking a moment to pause for dramatics. "I love you" he added softly, leaning in closer to her and placing a soft kiss on her forehead. He could be sweet when he wanted to. "I know" he said, reaching up to touch her cheek as well. "But I'd rather not" he said simply, caressing the area where her cheek bone met her jawline. He didn't want to run back over tonight's events. He wanted to forget them, at least until the morning, when he could calmly speak to a rested Katheryn. Right now all he wanted to do was spend time with her.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She rolled her eyes at the handsome vampire stating that she had given him nightmares. She refused to admit that she had probably given herself nightmares as well but again, that would be her little secret. “You know that when you sleep you have dreams of frolicking in the fields and such, not nightmares about Giles and a twenty five year old concubine.” She stated with a wink, though inside she was laughing hysterically at both the thought of Giles with some twenty five year old slut and the thought of Angel running around fields in the sunlight.
Okay, she was clearly delirious with no sleep.
She patted his chest soothingly, though her tone was still mocking as she spoke. “Of course I won’t tell anyone old man.” She reached up and before he could stop her she ruffled his hair, knowing full and well that he hated when anyone touched his precious hair. “Then again you may want to get some hair dye…I think I see grey.” Pulling her hand back before he got slap it away she giggled against his chest, loving how easy going they were being tonight. She knew it was slightly out of character for Angel (and her these days as well) but after the emotional night they needed a break from the angst.
Hearing that a man loved you, especially one that you believed, was something that no woman should take for granted. She knew by his tone that he loved her, but the words made it even more clear. “I know. I love you too. And I love the fact that you let me make my own decisions and don’t try to dictate to me what to wear, what to eat, what to say. However I also love how you try and protect me even though you know that I don’t need it. We have a good balance, and that’s something I’ve missed.” She told him in an unusual display of honest emotions.
“I know you don’t like to talk about things, but you can you know. It doesn’t make you weak or take away your masculinity. I’ll stop asking but if you need to talk, you can come to me. It doesn’t matter what it’s about or if you think it’ll bother me…we’re a team. Whether or not we’re together, we’re still a team. Okay?” She asked before placing a brief kiss on his lips, letting them linger a little longer than necessary before pulling away and simply staring into his chocolate eyes.
Wishing she could look into them forever.
