- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Standing outside, staring at the dark waters below, his mind raced over the past year. It had been pretty much hell from the beginning, though the hell had actually started a few months before. Sophomore year had been pretty easy as far as he was concerned. Sure there were a few issues here and there but for the most part Matt was happy. He had a sister who while she had her issues, they were still fairly close…he had his best friend who was also his girlfriend, who he would tell anyone who asked even to this day that he loved without reason…and he had school and football, school he could have done without but he had to have it to have football, so it all worked out okay.
Unfortunately things then went to hell as his girlfriend’s parents were killed and she was almost killed. He could still remember getting that phone call from Bonnie, telling him that Elena was in the hospital after her parents car had gone off the bridge. He had raced up to the hospital and waited with Bonnie and Caroline as they all waited for news. Jeremy was sitting next to Bonnie with tears rolling down his face, having been told that his parents were gone and his sister was fighting for her life.
She woke up and they were all relieved, though none were more relieved than he was. His relief wasn’t to be though as only a few days after the funeral he was told that she needed space in order to deal with her parents’ death…to which he understood…but something deep inside him told him that it was more than space. To this day he was a tad resentful for her not being honest with him in the first place, but he had dealt with it as much as he could and didn’t regret it now as it brought him to Caroline.
That clearly didn’t last either being that she had been turned into a god damned vampire and he hadn’t dealt with it very well…but he digressed.
Hearing a sound from behind him he quickly turned around, not seeing anything but knowing that didn’t mean much. In a town that was so full of vampires and other crazy ass things such as doppelgangers, werewolves, and witches…he knew that just because he didn’t see something, didn’t mean it wasn’t there.
He quickly headed towards his truck, standing against it though his hand was on his shot gun, his shot gun that he had filled with wooden bullets. He’d wait…and he’d be prepared.

Sometimes Angel was forced to wonder just how he'd gotten by this far without falling. Well that wasn't true actually, as he'd fallen many times...however he'd always gotten back up. Perhaps it was because he felt as if he hadn't another choice. Perhaps it was because of the people in his life. No matter the reason Angel always seemed to get back up after falling. Even when he was down it usually didn't tend to last too long. Not counting of course when Connor had dropped him in the ocean and left him for months, as he hadn't had much of a choice in that matter. However it did fluff his feathers a bit to think that he was still fighting. After all, sometimes the fighting was all that one had left.
Except that wasn't the case anymore, was it? Despite losing a lot of his close friends, he still had people in his life. Katheryn his sister had come back to him after nearly three hundred years. Buffy was now back in his life...most of the time. When she wasn't sleeping with Angelus that is. However he'd forgiven her for that, though he knew he'd never forget. That had torn a part of him he didn't feel would ever heal. Sometimes when he laid to sleep at night he couldn't help but dream about it. More or less nightmares versus dreams, but still. It seemed it wasn't anything he'd ever get out of his head, it was permanently etched into the back of his eyelids. Despite all of the recent events they'd only gotten closer since then. Thankfully enough they were now closer than they'd ever been...both physically and emotionally. He knew it'd stay that way, as long as Spike stayed far out of the equation...
Fucking Spike. He's such a pansy...
There were so many things about the blonde vampire that irritated him. Shaking off these thoughts, he was tackled from behind. Falling to the ground he immediately rolled so that his attacker was thrown off of him. Leaning back on his shoulders and throwing out his hands, he catapulted himself off the ground and up onto his feet. The demon was none another than a Frovalox...known for it's disgusting trait of regurgitating an acidic spew at it's foe. Wonderful... Speaking of spew, Angel quickly sidestepped to the left as the demon sent some projectile style towards him. Quickly starting into a run he jumped completely over the demon, landing behind him. With a quick snap of the neck the demon slumped to the ground. Almost too easy.. he thought, aggravated.
Wiping off his pants in the front and back free of dirt, he continued on his patrol. Unknowingly so, he wasn't the only one in the woods. Hearing noise ahead of him he found a young boy sitting against his truck with a shotgun in hand. He hadn't a clue what he was hunting, but he definitely shouldn't be doing it here. Stepping out of the shadows, he came out just beside the boy, though still about fifteen feet away. "Maybe you should run home boy, these aren't the safest of woods to be in..."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -He was glad to know about what went on during the night...and during the day as he had learned later on. He knew that most would be resentful of the fact that they had been pulled into the supernatural thick of things without really giving their consent, but Matt wasn't like that. Maybe at one time he would have wished that he could go back to not knowing, and he knew that he had told Caroline at one point that that was exactly how he felt...but that wasn't the truth anymore. At this least way he knew the answers to things that had plagued his mind and his subconscious for far longer than he had even realized before learning the truth.
He also was glad that if something came at him, he knew how to defend himself. He had always known that there were things that weren’t quite right. He knew Elena way too well to not realize when she was lying to him…so seeing her do it over and over again had caused him to become quite bitter with his ex girlfriend…however after learning the secrets that had been placed upon her shoulders he found that he actually admired her in a way. He was also glad to know that he knew that she was aware of how to defend herself, because if she hadn’t been…or at least if Alaric hadn’t been in the process of training her, he would have done it himself.
Hearing a twig snap he turned around, his hand gripping onto his shot gun but not yet bringing it around so that the person in front of him could see it. The person in front of him happened to be a man that looked to be in his late twenties early thirties, and someone he had never seen before. His clothing screamed out that he was a predator, from the dark pants and shirt, to the long black leather coat. He wanted to make a comment about it but it was not his style, though he knew if Caroline was around that she definitely would. He could almost hear her voice in the back of his mind saying that he looked dangerous, and that more than anything caused him to tense up.
His words hit Matt’s ears and he glared, not at all liking the way he called him a ‘boy’. Sure Matt might only be eighteen, but that didn’t mean he was a child and he didn’t like being spoken to like one. Something told him that this man wasn't a man at all, instead something darker. He wasn't sure if it was the clothes, the way that he had almost appeared out of nowhere, the way that he walked with an almost inhuman grace, or maybe it was the combination of all three, but something in him told him to be careful, and he always listened to his instincts. Grabbing his shot gun he quickly fired a warning shot into the tree next to the man, letting the wooden bullet lodge itself into it yet luckily it was still showing. "I don't think you need to tell how that it's not safe." He stated matter of factly, meeting his gaze without showing an ounce of fear.

The way the boy jumped when seen the vampire emerge from the shadows would be comical to most. Some would have made a comment asking why he was so scared, why he jumped like a girl. However Angel didn't. He knew for a fact that he tended to frighten and confuse a lot of humans. The females usually just jumped him, enjoying the sense of danger, but this boy had clearly been startled. Perhaps he should have announced his presence. Especially considering the fact that the boy was currently holding a shot gun. While it wouldn't kill Angel, it would hurt like hell. He knew from experience. He'd been shot several times. Though the most memorable had by far been when Darla had shot him. A vampire wielding double pistols, wasn't that a frightening thought...not to mention innovative.
As Angel referred to him as a boy, he watched as the boys eye`s seemed to bore into him. Does he think hes intimidating? I certainly hope not... However he made sure not to maintain a threatening posture, and not to move closer to the male. He was simply trying to keep him out of harms way, not stir up a fight. No smirk grew across his face and he remained emotionless for the moment. It seemed they were currently in a staring stand off right now. The boy certainly wouldn't win this Mexican stand off, but hell, was he trying nonetheless. Angel simply watched him as he grew uneasier by the moment. The humans muscle`s began to tense up and everything inside of him stirred. He was afraid, Angel could smell it...as he should be. Maybe the boy`s got better instincts than I thought... He made no move to speak. He was going to stand right in this spot and wait for the boy to leave the hidden dangers of the woods.
Or not... Angel watched as the boy fired off a round, though he stood completely still. Just by the direction in which he was holding the rifle he knew that it wouldn't hit him. However his eyes slide to the side to look at the bullet that had entered the tree. Wooden... Well, wasn't that interesting. His eyes flashed back to the boy just in time to hear him speak. In a seemingly blur of motion Angel was on him in seconds. Not to injure him, merely to disarm him. Grabbing the rifle out of the boy`s hands he tossed it off into the woods a good enough distance away from the both of them. Eyes flashed back up to the boy, who was now directly in front of him. "Maybe your not as naive as you look, but you're still naive." With this, he tilted his head to the side and watched as the boy`s pulse increased.
The palpitation in his neck was out of control. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, the boy seemed on edge. Perhaps not exactly afraid...though more likely a mixture of fear and anxiousness. "Naive to think that a gun will save your life against a vampire. Like I said, it`d be best if you ran on home."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -He glared at the older man when he sped to him and took his rifle away. He hated when vampires used their speed and strength against him. Okay so he knew that he was probably lucky he hadn’t been thrown into the lake or something of the sort but still, it was one of his biggest pet peeves. Ask Caroline, it was one of the biggest things that drove them apart. He couldn’t handle her special skills and quirks of being a vampire and in the end he had ended things. Sure after he had pulled his head out of his ass and realized that either way she was still the girl he loved she had been the one to say no, but still, his dislike of vampires had driven them apart in the first place.
"Again, I'm not running home, so you can stop trying. I also don't appreciate you throwing my gun but I guess that just means I'll have to go and get it. Notice I didn't try to shoot you. If I wanted to, I would have hit you." He told him, confidant in his abilities. Sure he knew that he could have moved but if he would have stayed he wouldn't have missed. Matt may not be an expert fighter or anything of the sort, but he had hunted since he was a kid, it was Elena's dad who had taught him and Jeremy both...so he knew how to shoot and he knew how to aim.
“Now, my question is, why are you so concerned with my safety?” He asked him, not rudely simply curiously. Matt wasn’t a rude person, though he could be if the situation called for it. However he was also not a dumb guy, he knew that this man…this vampire…in front of him could easily kill him before he could blink, so angering him wasn’t something he was trying to do. However that didn’t mean that he wasn’t curious. He was curious as to why a vampire who at least it didn’t seem as if he wanted to hurt him, why he wasn’t hanging around the Salvatore brothers or the originals seeing as those were the two ‘big groups’ in this town. He wasn’t naïve enough to think that this random vampire just happened to be passing through.
If there was one thing he had learned over the years was that coincidences simply did not exist.
“Clearly you’re a vampire…so why do you care? Shouldn’t you be I don’t know, lying in wait or something along those lines?” He asked, knowing it probably wasn’t a good idea to give a vampire tips but knowing that really there was nothing that he could say to talk himself out of being killed, might as well get his questions answered in case it did happen. He also knew that if he kept him talking, there was a chance he might be able to move to get his rifle eventually…he wasn’t at all a happy camper without it…even though he did have a stake in his pocket. Damon had handed them out a few days ago, wanting each person to have one. He didn’t want to use it, but he would if he had to.

The boy had a little bit more pep than he'd originally given him credit for. It appeared that perhaps he'd underestimated him. Either he'd underestimated him, or he'd underestimated his ego. The latter was probably more like it. However if he had the skills to back it up an ego didn't really bother Angel. He knew just from experience that most didn't have the skills to back it up. Not only this but the kid couldn't have been more then seventeen or eighteen. Already he knew it was going to be a bit harder than he'd first thought to get the boy to go home. He slightly wish he knew the kid's name so he didn't have to keep thinking of him as 'that boy', but oh well. He didn't exactly want to get personal with the freaking kid, he simply wanted to get him out of danger and back into his footy pajama's in the safety of his own bedroom.
Was that so much to ask?
"I appreciate your valiant effort to show me how tough you are, but I couldn't care less. You're in danger." With this, he made sure not to even give the boy an inch of movement. A gun in a child's hands was nothing to joke around with. While he might think he was an expert shot, so did a lot of kids who ended up accidentally shooting their friends or even themselves. More and more he found this kid reminding him of his own son, Connor. So ready to the hero. So ready to willingly put himself in the line of fire. While it was a valiant effort in all truth it was also incredibly stupid. Even Connor could vouch for the fact that it'd gotten him hurt more than once. And to some point Connor had superhuman abilities. This child, did not. He was utterly and completely human. Right now he was basically sentencing himself to death, especially after what Angel had already seen in the woods just tonight. That didn't include countless amounts of past nights patrolling through these parts of the city. The woods were a dangerous place, especially in a town like this.
For a moment his eyes traveled behind the boy and into the woods, thinking on his question. After a couple of seconds he looked back into the boy's eyes. "Not all of us are evil. Not all of us drink human blood. While I find you slightly annoying, that doesn't mean I want to see your dead body in the front of tomorrow's newspaper." It was a bit harsh but hey, he was trying to get a point across. Besides at least this way the kid would know that he wasn't going to hurt him. Thank god he'd run into Angel in the woods and not Angelus...he could only imagine. Though he desperately wished he hadn't.
As the kid's eyes moved to the rifle behind them, Angel inched over so that he couldn't even see it anymore. "Don't even think about it" he said sternly. It wasn't an evil or dark voice, more fatherly than anything else. Perhaps Connor had been rubbing off on him. Nonetheless, he wasn't letting this boy out of his sight unless he was driving away from these woods.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -He laughed…he actually laughed. This guy actually thought he was trying to show off how tough he was? No, that wasn’t his intention at all. “You really don’t get it at all.” He stated simply. “I’m not trying to show how ‘tough’ I am…if I was that immature to do that I’d challenge you to an arm wrestling contest or something…but I know I’d lose so I choose to pick my battles.” He told him. “Besides, after dating a vampire, I know how strong and fast they are…so excuse me for trying to get you to understand that I know what’s out there and I don’t need to be inside.” He told him, hoping that the whole comment about ‘dating a vampire’ would get him to realize that he knew what he was doing.
Granted, he probably shouldn’t be outside at night but really, what did it matter. There were enough vampires that could walk in the day in this damn town so really what did it matter? Between the Original Family, The Salvatore’s, Klaus’ Hybrids, and the other vampires like Katherine and Caroline who all wore daylight rings or something or the sort (besides the hybrids who were able to walk in the sun without them) that they could simply walk around in the daylight…really…what did it matter. “Also, no offense, but it looks like you know more about it too.” He told him, noting the ring that sat atop the vampires’ finger. He had learned a lot about the different types of daylight rings a few months before, Elena trying to teach him everything she knew in order to help keep him safe. It was a good few days that he learned, though at the same time he wished that he never knew a lot of what he knew. Well, a part of him did at least.
“You know that ring allows a vampire to walk in the day light…so really what does it matter? With the amount of vampires walking around in this town with rings or necklaces just like that…day and night aren’t really much different anymore.” He told him simply, wondering if he knew that or if he was just pretending as if this news didn’t affect him. Seemed to him that the vampire (whose name he really wanted to know only because he hated referring to him as ‘the vampire’) had a great poker face though so he doubted he would ever get the answers to those questions. “Not that you care, but I’m Matt. I hate referring to you as ‘the vampire’ so care to give me your name?” He asked him, doubting he would do it but figuring it didn’t hurt to ask.
Hearing his comment about not drinking human blood he shook his head. “Jesus how many vampires out there are like Stefan?” He muttered to himself. “I thought that he was the anonymity in this case…guess not.” He really didn’t say it to the vampire in front of him, but he also knew that if he would have been thinking about it he would have realized that he could hear him. Didn’t matter, just a statement either way. He froze for a moment at hearing the almost reprimanding statement about not going to get his gun. “I wasn’t planning on using the damn thing. I just don’t want it to get lost. Can I at least get it and put it back in my truck? Or better yet, you get it and put it back in my truck…that way you know I won’t shoot you.” He told him honestly. For some reason he didn’t feel the need to defend himself against this vampire. He almost felt similar in respect to Stefan, yet he didn’t know him so he still kept his guard up.

This wasn't turning out as Angel had originally planned for it too. Usually just his presence alone was enough to give people bad vibes and scare them off. He didn't try to be scary but the mystery surrounded him usually did just that. And when he spoke all cryptic like, that usually did the trick if his appearance didn't. So why wasn't this boy hopping into his truck and speeding off yet? Have I lost my touch? Self doubting thoughts began to creep into the elderly vampire's mind. Something wasn't right here. However perhaps it was just because the boy already clearly knew about vampires. Plus Angel hadn't exactly been threatening in his voice or something. Still, it was definitely out of the ordinary...
Raising his eyebrows when the kid told him that Angel didn't "get it" he simply crossed his arms over his chest and perked up his interest to listen. In his mind, the boy was the one who wasn't "getting it". "So if you know how strong they are...why do you want to stay outside?" Clearly he wasn't getting it. He didn't care how good of a shot the boy was, an experienced vampire wouldn't fall victim to his shotgun or his wooden bullets. They'd move out of the way just as Angel knew he would if the kid would have aimed for him. At the latter comment about dating a vampire, he felt one of his eyebrows raise again. Once it fell he simply allowed a low chuckle to raise through his chest and throat. "You've got a death wish, kid." Maybe the boy did have a death wish, and that was what Angel wasn't understanding. Definitely a possibility...Or maybe he just felt like he had something to prove. Either way he was acting foolish.
Following the boy's eyes down to Angel's ring, he had pretty much forgotten that he even had it. Honestly he'd only used it once since he'd had it, when he had visited Buffy at work. Since then he'd stuck to the shadows out of habit more so than anything else. As dark eyes looked back up to the kid, he had to nod. Honestly it was true no matter how hard it was to admit it. "True. Still doesn't mean it's safe. There's a lot more out in the shadows than vampires though..." he said, allowing his voice to trail off into the abyss of nothingness. Didn't this kid know about demons and werewolves and everything else that went bump in the night? Clearly not...
"Angel" he responded simply. His tone wasn't curt, though it wasn't friendly either. Honestly he wasn't usually that great with first impressions unless he really tried to be. Even then it was slightly questionable. "Stefan?" The look on his face definitely showed that he didn't know who in the hell this Matt was talking about. Was he supposed to know that name? "Better idea" he said, more so to himself. Giving the boy a look, he walked over to the shotgun and kicked it with the tip of his shoe up into his hand. Holding it, he walked over and handed it back to the boy. "Let's go. I'm going to show you why you shouldn't be out here" he said, beginning to walk into the woods. When the boy didn't turn around he motioned for him to follow again. "Don't worry. I don't bite" he said with a serious face, turning back and heading into the darkness. Hopefully he would actually find a demon and show the boy why he shouldn't be out here, and not look like an idiot.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -He tried to think of how to answer the vampire who he still didn't know's name. His comment a moment later about having a death wish made the younger man chuckle. "Not so much." He told him honestly. "However I am pretty sure I won’t make it out of this town alive. Just a fact." He simply stated, remembering a similar conversation that he and Jeremy had had only a few months before hand. None of them had the slightest idea how they would ever get back to a semi normal life after the original family had moved to Mystic Falls. Matt and Jeremy were really the only two actual 'humans' left in the group. Sure Elena and Bonnie technically were humans as well but it wasn't the same. Bonnie was a witch and Elena was a doppelganger who was also Klaus' personal blood bag, something he would never call Elena to her face because he didn't believe it but that was how Klaus saw her...which meant Elena wouldn't get to leave the town.
"Put it this way. In the last year alone, I've watched way too many people that I know die because of vampires. My sister was turned and then staked. My girlfriend was turned. My ex girlfriend is in love with a vampire, and his vampire brother is obsessed with her. My ex girlfriend also has a vampire look alike. So yes, I am well aware of how strong vampires are...but I also know how to kill them. I may not be a super hero or have vampire strength, but I know enough to keep my friends and me safe...and that's all I care about." He told him honestly, refusing to hide anything or to lie. What was the point?
Hearing the man’s confirmation of the daylight ring he laughed. “You’d be surprised how many vampires are walking around with those on their fingers. It’s more than you think. Those aren’t really a rarity here anymore to be honest.” He told him honestly, not realizing that he was giving him a heads up but that was exactly what he had been doing. He nodded once when Angel introduced himself. "I'd say nice to meet you but I am not one who likes to lie." He stated with another chuckle. He heard his question about Stefan but wasn't sure if he really wanted him to answer it or not. "Another vampire who drinks animal blood." He simply stated, not wanting to go into a lot of detail if the vampire, Angel, didn't care to know said details.
Watching as Angel kicked up his shot gun and then handed it to him, he took him back gratefully, holding it firmly. It wasn't like he was going to shoot the vampire unless he came at him, but that didn't mean he wasn't feeling a bit more confidant now that it was back in his grasp. He stared after him when he said to follow him and simply raised one eye brow.
A snort left him when he stated that he didn't bite. "I bet you say that to all the girls." He stated randomly, not really sure why he felt like he could make that specific statement but just having a feeling that he couldn't anger him enough for him to attack him. Then again, it may just be wishful thinking. “So where exactly are we going?” He asked, walking beside the elder vampire, though he really had no idea how old he was. “I told you I know about vampires and since my former best friend is a werewolf I’m pretty well aware of them as well.” He told him, not wanting him to think that he was as naïve as he clearly thought.

Even though the kid laughed, Angel didn't find it so funny. Whether it was subconscious or not Matt definitely seemed to be a little too reckless. Not only reckless but hard headed, as he certainly didn't seem like he was going to leave the woods without force. Perhaps the kid didn't understand that he was sentencing himself to death? Regardless of the reason for the foolishness, Angel didn't care. "It's not the most dangerous town I've seen, but it's not a walk in the park either." Both Sunnydale and Los Angeles were in this thoughts as he mentioned more dangerous towns. Honestly he couldn't really decide which was worse. Both towns had been consumed by hell demons at one point or another, both also having a steady amount of undead population the entire time he'd been there. So far Mystic Falls and Richmond were both dangerous, but he wasn't convinced they had much on the other two towns.
"You might. If you stop hanging out alone at the woods in the middle of the night" he stated simply. He wasn't going to promise that this would save him completely as they'd both discussed how many vampires now had daylight rings. However he'd said the boy might because it certainly did increase his chances. "Sounds like you need new kids friend" Angel told him with a serious face. Angel wasn't very smiley tonight. Not that he ever was really, but he sometimes at least smirked a little. Right now, nope. He didn't find it so funny unlike Matt. Talking about someone's safety and how they're intentionally putting themselves in harm's way wasn't an amusing topic.
Honestly he just wanted to smack this boy right now. How naive could he be? Again and again he kept saying that he could defend himself. "Just because you know how to kill a vampire doesn't mean you can. I know how to yodel. Doesn't mean I can" he told him, again with the serious face though it didn't seem to be doing either of them any good. No matter, Angel didn't mind, his face was serious ninety nine perfect of the time regardless. "Not much surprises me." God, was he in a bad mood or what? Well no, actually, he really wasn't. For some odd reason he felt strangely protective over the boy. Although he felt protective over all humans, so it wasn't as much this kid in particular.
Raising his eyebrows at Matt he decided not to comment on it being nice to meet the boy either. Letting it go he allowed a small chuckle but that was it. Matt's explanation of this Stefan fellow wasn't too detailed, but Angel didn't care much to know who Stefan was anyways. In response he simply nodded, going quiet as the moment of awkwardness consumed them both. Looking over his shoulder he couldn't help but smirk. "Calling yourself a girl?" It was a slightly out of character comment for the vampire but he felt like he'd had to say it, it was simply too perfect. Turning around he waited for the boy to catch up before continuing to walk through the woods. "We're gonna show you a real monster. Granted that I didn't already kill them all" he said, his voice trailing off into the distance at the end. At the comment on werewolves and vampires he simply chuckled. "You haven't seen anything yet."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Hearing that Mystic Falls wasn't the most dangerous town that he had seen was actually a surprise to Matt, and he had a feeling that his face let that be known. He hadn't really thought of any other towns having the same issues that they did, which he knew was a bit naive of him but he couldn't help it. Ever since he had found out about vampires and werewolves thanks to pretending to be compelled by Caroline he hadn’t really thought about any other town having this amount of vampires or werewolves within it. He had always had the hope that if he got the hell away from Mystic Falls that things would go back to normal…or as normal as they could all get since Elena was in love with a vampire, he was in love with a vampire, Elena’s vampire boyfriend had a vampire brother, their friend was a witch, their other friend was a medium, and his ex vampire girlfriend’s boyfriend (or ex boyfriend, he wasn’t sure) was a vampire werewolf hybrid. Okay, so not normal, but at least safer than they were now.
"What's the most dangerous town you've ever been in?" He asked him curiously, not sure why he wanted to know but for some reason it was interesting to him. Also at least if he knew what was the most dangerous place he had ever been in he could cross that off of his list of colleges he was applying for.
Hey, upside you know?
Matt didn’t comment on Angel’s statement about if he stopped being reckless that he would make it out of this town. If he knew the people that he hung out with he would probably admit that he was one of the least reckless out of the bunch. “It’s a bit hard to have new friends when everyone in the town is in on the conspiracy of it.”He told him, again, giving away information that he didn’t really realize was probably something Angel would want to know. “The police chief knows since her daughter is a vampire. The mayor knows since her son is a werewolf.” He told him, negating the fact that Tyler was actually a hybrid. He didn’t want to give that information away since he knew that there were more than a few out there hunting the hybrids that Klaus had created and he didn’t want Tyler to get caught in the crossfire.
Furrowing his brows he shook his head. “I really don’t want to hear you yodel to be honest.” He told him honestly. “I don’t really want to hear anyone yodel.” He stated. “Besides, I never said that I was a master vampire hunter, I’m not stupid enough to think that. How long did it take for you to get my gun away from me, about 2 seconds. I know that. I have been trained to fight by a vampire hunter but that doesn’t mean that I can hold my own for more than a few seconds…however that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop living my life. Danger is all around, day or night, it doesn’t really make a difference.”
Realizing what he meant by calling himself a girl he glared before laughing. “I’ve been called worse things.” He told him honestly, laughing again before sobering up at hearing that he hadn’t seen anything yet. “You know that doesn’t fill me with a sense of ease.” He stated honestly, not liking at all where this was going. Sure he trusted the vampire as much as one could trust a random vampire that they had just met, but this didn’t sound like something that he was much looking forward too.

Los Angeles, or Sunnydale, that was the question at hand. However back in Europe he'd been to a lot of towns that made them look like a piece of cake. Well not exactly a walk in the park but it didn't make them look that bad. However he honestly couldn't decide. Both towns had their fair share of evil over the years. Both had been consumed by demons and even hell at one point or another. Instead of giving the boy a definite answer he shrugged. "Can't decide." He didn't want to get into too many details with the boy, or let on to how old he was. Not only was he not a very personable person but he didn't get into his history with many people, if any at all.
Even the politics in this town seemed corrupt from what Matt was telling Angel. It seemed that maybe he had underestimated this town thus far. However he knew one thing for sure, he was learning a lot about Mystic Falls from the kid. Deciding that this could be useful information he perked up his ears. "Oh? So what, they just ignore it?" Seemed like a stupid question, but he was curious. If the Mayor and the Sheriff didn't care to keep order, who did? He found himself wondering if everyone in this town was corrupt. The only one who didn't seem to be on the side of evil was Matt here and that didn't help their side too much. Nothing against him but he was only a teenage boy after all.
"That makes two of us" he said with a short, but not curt laugh. Yodeling wasn't exactly music to Angel's ears. In fact he didn't know how anyone could really like yodeling to be honest. However that wasn't the most important topic at hand at the moment despite how badly his mind wanted to stray. While he still thought it was silly for the kid to even try to kill a vampire he couldn't help but find the boy's bravery and honesty admirable. With a simple nod he decided to quit getting on the boy for simply trying to protect himself. After all, at least he was aware of the world around him. Angel couldn't say that for most people despite how much that same fact bothered him.
With a sideways grin, he continued on through the woods and didn't comment on the boy being called names. He wasn't hear to berate him. Plus they needed to focus on their surroundings at the moment. In the distance he heard some ruffling in the woods, but ignored it. He wanted to know if the boy would notice it or not. When it seemed he heard something, Angel sensed the attack coming and when the attacker shot out of the woods, he dodged the attack. A werewolf. As the beast came underneath the moon he glanced over to Matt to gauge his reaction. It wasn't a werewolf, but instead a hell beast. Perfect. The beast swatted a paw out to Angel, who quickly moved out of the way and responded with a quick to it's ribs. Looking back to Matt he realized that he probably hadn't seen this kind of demon before. He wouldn't let him get hurt by any means, but he wasn't going to kill the thing alone. One last look to Matt as if asking if he was ready, and he dove into the attack.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -He chuckled when Angel stated that he couldn't decide which town was more dangerous than the other. He couldn't really relate to that seeing as he had found since he learned the history of the town that he lived in that he couldn't imagine another place that was even half as dangerous as Mystic Falls, yet apparently he was wrong. He honestly didn't want to know what other towns he had seen the dangers in, knowing that if he learned too much he would become extremely paranoid and he really didn't like the thought of that. He was paranoid enough now as it was…didn’t need to go any further.
Hearing his question he shrugged, not really sure how to answer it. It wasn't that they ignored it so much as they worked around it. "It's sort of hard to explain to be honest." He told him, again, trying to think about how to phrase it. The cops and the sheriff know about vampires and they'll kill those that threaten the town. However there are quite a few who drink from either blood bags or animals...well, most of them drink from blood bags, only Stefan will drink from animals. However those they don't really mind as long as they aren't hurting anyone." He stated before shrugging. "Though who they think are harmless and who really are tends to be a bit off, but really, what can anyone do about it?" He asked with a shrug.
He would be lying if he said that he hadn’t thought it would be best for the whole damn town to get wiped out of vampires and werewolves and hybrids…that was until he realized that Caroline was included in that list. He may not like what Caroline was, but he still did care about her and didn’t want to see her get hurt. She and Elena were the only two reasons that he put up with any of the supernatural crap any longer…and they were the only reasons that he had slightly changed his views on what he believed was right and wrong.
That didn’t mean he still didn’t deep down inside wish that all the vampires were gone and that things could go on the way that they had been…however he would never say that out loud. He knew that it would offend a lot of people if he did.
He didn't have the keen senses that Angel did so he didn't sense the beast until it was already in front of him. He was slightly surprised to see a werewolf looking beast but on closer look it wasn't one. He nodded at Angel once as he dove in and followed quickly. He wasn't an expert fighter but he could hold his own, however he didn't know what the hell this thing was so he had to make sure he didn't get bit or scratched. Taking the end of his gun he hit the thing in the head hard, but unfortunately this seemed to anger him as he was pushed back against a tree. He was a bit dazed as his head had hit the tree but luckily not too bad as he got back up.
This wasn't the first time he had been hurt after all.

If Angel said he wasn't interested in the kid, it would have been a lie. For some odd reason he was feeling very paternal towards the child. Although he used the term child loosely as Matt was well past that age now. If he had to guess he'd say mid to late teens. However it just seemed as if he was a child to Angel considering the large age difference between the two. However he did like the kid, as stubborn as he was. Angel was a very stubborn person as well so perhaps that was why. When Matt told him that it was hard to explain, Angel simply raised his eyebrows as if prodding him to continue. After all he was curious to see what the boy had to say. It meant he would know more about the town, which definitely wasn't a bad thing. The cops in Sunnydale and Los Angeles has ignored what was around them and he'd assumed the same thing to be happening in this town, though clearly that wasn't the case.
So, the Sheriff did know. He found it slightly odd that everyone in the town seemed to know about the Supernatural. Literally pretty much everyone knew and yet no one did a thing to stop it. Interesting, and pretty different than Sunnydale and Los Angeles had been for the most part. "Hmm...strange." Hearing the name Stefan again he couldn't help but wonder how old the vampire was. He'd never heard it, but it seemed that he was pretty well known in this town. "Is Stefan a friend of yours?" he asked simply, his curiosity getting the best of him. The boy had now mentioned the name twice and he simply couldn't ignore it any longer. Clearly this Stefan wasn't a threat but perhaps could even be an ally to them. They would need all the help they could get, and another vampire on the team certainly wouldn't do them any harm as long as he wasn't on a human blood diet.
"And what kind of vampires is he? I've run into a vampire since I've been here, and it was a different kind than myself. More...veiny" he said, though didn't move to show Matt his demonic face. After all he didn't want to freak the kid out if he'd never seen one before. If Matt asked he'd show him, but not until then.
The beast soon realized that Angel was a threat, and then instead turned towards Matt. Which Angel had been half expecting and half hoping for. Watching, he felt slightly proud that the boy had gotten a hit in, though it wasn't long lasting. Soon enough he was thrown into the tree behind him and knocked his head against the hard wood. "You good?" he asked out behind him, moving to step in front of Matt. He wanted to show him a lesson, not get him killed. As the beast swatted a paw at him again he threw up his forearm to stop it. One of his legs kicked out from underneath him, hitting the beast in the chest and sending it stumbling back. Matt still behind him somewhere, Angel lurched forward and grabbed the beast by its hairy shoulders. With a toss, he sent the beast flying.
Right next to Matt. Time to see what the kid's got...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -He could tell that this vampire wanted to teach him a lesson, so the lesson was what he would learn. He quickly shot out a kick to the whatever the hell it was’ head, though he knew he would be sore in the morning, it was almost invigorating. He knew that he was pretty well built as he tended to spend a lot of time at the gym, football plus moving around the grill when at work…so he knew how to move when things got in his way. That didn’t mean that he was an excellent fighter by any stretch of the imagination but he did know how to hold his own.
Unfortunately holding his own with this damn thing wasn’t really as easy as it looked. It was strong, hairy, and really really ugly. He remembered seeing Tyler transformed and he just looked like a normal wolf from what he could remember. He would admit to having been more concerned about getting him and Caroline out of harms way since apparently a werewolf can kill a vampire, or at least the type that Tyler was. Learning that there were different types of vampires was sort of a surprise and he knew that he should question Angel on it more but he had a feeling after this wolf thing was dealt with that he would definitely be going home to ice his entire body…he could already feel the bruises.
Taking his gun he butted the thing’s head again, this time harder, with the back and watched it slump to the ground. He shook his head and realized with a start that he broke the damn thing’s neck with the gun. “Uh, guess that means he’s no problem anymore?” He asked, not really sure how to take the fact that he had just broken something’s neck but figuring he was still standing and alive so he figured he would check this in the win column.
“Well, I guess that’s a good thing.” He stated before shrugging. “Listen, It’s like 2am and I need to get the hell home…being a student sort of sucks.” He stated awkwardly. “So, thanks for the lesson?” He asked, not really knowing how to end the night but knowing he wanted to get the hell out of there. He would admit he was sort of freaking out a bit and really just wanted to get going. Figuring he had said enough he waved an awkward wave and headed towards his truck, jumping in and gunning it.
Yeah, he needed to get the hell away from the supernatural for a while.
