As the look registered on her features Angel immediately knew he shouldn't have gone there. There were just some things he knew he should keep to himself, though that didn't always happen obviously. Usually he tended to over think things before he actually said them. That was what happened most of the time, but clearly not what just happened in this situation. He'd actually responded without thinking enough on that one, as rare as that was. But instead of going into anything any further he simply shrugged his shoulders. "If I was around back then, I probably would have made you take it too." It was a simple comment but honestly, what else was there to say about it. Both him and her parents simply wanted what was best for her. However when he really thought about it, he wished he hadn't said that comment either. "Scratch that. If I would have been around you back then...I probably would have been arrested" he then added with a soft chuckle.
At the comment about him earning a treat he simply furrowed his brows at her. Angel was no dog..but, he would let it slide this time if it meant he got a kiss. Damn her, always distracting him with kissy-goodness. As she lowered herself back down he brought his eyes to meet hers, simply looking into beautiful features. "I'm not a dog.." he muttered to himself. Clearly he was only kidding, this side of him tended to show with her. He was relaxing and simply joking around with her. Was that so bad?
Angel's eyes narrowed in on the slayer as she tried to make up a line about being fine. Clearly she was not fine and if she really thought she was going to get away with saying so, she was sadly mistaken. However he simply nodded in response to her and then watched as she stood up off the bed and went to fuss around with objects on her nightstand. It seemed that she was simply moving them around with no real changes actually being made. He knew exactly what she was doing. She was trying to seem busy so that he wouldn't prod her about what had just happened. If she thought that was going to work, she had another thing coming.
In one swift movement Angel was up and off his feet. He even seemed to simply appear behind the woman as he hadn't made any sound. Before she even seemed to notice that he was there he leaned in and whispered in her ear. "So tired you can't even look me in the eye?" he said, a bit of mischief in his voice. His lips barely brushed her ear as he whispered to her. So what if he was playing dirty, did that really matter? Something was going on with her and he was determined to find out what. Softly grabbing her hips from behind, he spun her to look at him in the face. Even facing him she still refused to look into his eyes. His hand cupped her chin and gently forced her to look at him. "So. What's going on that you don't want to tell me?" he cooed, trying to coax her into telling him.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Laughing at the thought of Angel going to jail she lightly smacked his stomach since she couldn't really reach much else with the way she was laying. "I wouldn't have let you go to jail." She told him with another laugh. "You should know that as a kid I was even more outgoing than I am now. If they would have tried to throw my new friend in jail I would have screamed and cried until I got my way. By the end of the day my parents probably would have paid you to be my babysitter." She stated seriously, though her eyes were laughing.
"And unfortunately I'm totally not kidding with that either. I wasn't the easiest kid to watch and I went through a few too many babysitters back in the day. I went through three or four women before they hired a man just to see if they could handle me... he ran away screaming after one day because I made him play wedding with me. Needless to say my grandparents got to watch me quite a bit." She stated with a fond smile...remembering how the real reason she had been such a terror to her babysitters was because she actually wanted to go to her grandparents house. She hated hearing her parents fight all the time and being at her grandparent’s house made her feel safe. They were also the ones who tended to take her skating so she had that escape as well.
As she stood at her dresser she looked down at the mess that she had left behind when she had packed earlier in the week in a hurry. She started tidying things up, her mind blanking until she heard his velvet voice behind her full of mischief calling her out on her lies without actually saying the words. She shivered slightly as his hands grabbed onto her hips and spun her around, though she offered no resistance. She still continued to look down, focusing on her feet. She really needed to paint her toenails...there was a small chip in her polish on her baby toe and that was going to drive her crazy now that she saw it. She wondered if she had her polish that she used in her room or if one of the girls had grabbed it while she had been gone. They tended to do that when she wasn't around and while she didn't mind...she did wish they would put it back.
Feeling his hand cupping her chin she let him pull so that she was looking up at him, interrupting her internal ramblings. "Kennedy was a slayer...one that was around in Sunnydale for the First Evil thing...she actually dated Willow for awhile. She was killed a couple months ago and since I was the one who helped train her I have to go back to Rome to deal with it. Her body was never recovered." She stated with no emotion in her voice.
So it wasn't nearly the whole truth...it was the most she was willing to give.

Even though she was trying her best to seem serious he knew she was only kidding. He knew her better than anyone else, probably even her own sister, and knew the look behind her eyes meant she was having fun. It made him feel lighter inside knowing that she was happy right now. That he'd made her happy, instead of causing her pain. Which sounded like such a simple thing to do however with the two of them, nothing was simple. He liked to take the small moments and truly cherish them. Pretending to think hardly about her as a child, he realized he didn't know much about her childhood. "I'm still thinking they may have had me arrested. Twenty-something year old friends with a child? That screams dateline" he told her with a small chuckle. Yes, he knew what dateline referred to. Angel may have been a hermit but he had watched and heard about dateline before. It was a rarity, but it did happen.
"Did you have a babysitter? I mean, I know your dad wasn't around much...but what about your mom?" He hoped he didn't darken the mood by asking questions about her childhood. Honestly he was simply just curious as they hadn't ever gotten into the nitty gritty about it. They had glossed over a lot of things, including her Dorothy Hamel obsession, but they hadn't gotten into the smaller details. If there was something he didn't know about her, he wanted to know it. When she answered his question on babysitting he laughed. "I can only imagine...spending time with your grandparents must've been nice though" he told her with a light flicker through his eyes. At least she'd gotten to spend time with her family, even if it wasn't her direct family. He could only imagine how much of a terror little Buffy had to have been.
The slayer's eyes refused to look into his and instead focused on her own feet. It was going to be tough to get her to open up about whatever was on her mind, as it seemed like something she definitely didn't want to think about. However if she wouldn't talk to him about it, who would she talk to about it? Hearing the slayer's explanation, he immediately knew she wasn't telling him everything. He nodded and then waited to see if she would go into it further. When she didn't and instead simply stared at her, he prodded even further. "How did she die?" he asked, knowing there was something she was still holding back from him. Whatever it was it was clearly difficult for her to even think about. Just by looking into her eyes he could see the pain behind them. Something bad had happened to this slayer. Whether or not it was Buffy's fault he couldn't know just yet for sure, but it appeared to be taking quite the toll on her.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -"Nope, they would have listened to me. I was slightly spoiled as a child because if I didn't get my way I'd cry until I did." She stated with a laugh. "No one would have arrested you if I would have had it my way." She stated with a nod of her head, knowing that she was completely telling the truth. She knew how her parents were and they wouldn't have pressed charges. She loved her mother but she had been the oblivious parent for a long time. Her father had simply not cared enough to dig deeper than the surface unless it had to do with his secretary or his company. Sounded sad but it was the truth. “At least I would have been off their cases about finding someone that I could play with.†She stated with a laugh.
“I had several babysitters…none of them sticking around for long. My dad worked all the time as you know and my mom did pretty much the same. She was around more than my dad but not by much. At least my mom was at the parent teacher meetings and stuff…but during summers and before I went to school…I was usually with a babysitter or with my grandparents.†She told him honestly, not being sad about it anymore as it was a long time ago…these were simply the facts.
"My grandparents are actually the ones who taught me how to skate. They were both fairly young, having married before my grandfather went off to war at seventeen. So they were more like my parents for the first few years of my life instead of my grandparents. My grandpa was the one who bought me my first skates. They were high school sweethearts and were together until the day my grandma died. She died when I was fourteen... and a month later my grandpa died. My grandma died of cancer and my grandpa died of a heart attack...though I don't believe it. He refused to live without her... so he lost the will to live so to speak. It was only a few months before I was called as the slayer.†She explained.
The mood was low now...but then again...after talking about her grandparents and Kennedy, really what did she expect. "She was killed." She stated simply. She wished that Faith or Willow would show up to take the heat off of her. She still remembered Faith offering to do the deed for her so to speak but Buffy had refused, knowing that it had been her job to do it. She just didn't want to admit to Angel that she wasn't the woman that he fell in love with.
She was no longer pure in that sense.

It amazed him that she continued to argue about him being arrested. Why it seemed such an important thing to be right about, he had no clue. He simply summed it up to her always wanting to be right. He didn't care how spoiled she was, if the situation was real, it'd be creepy. However he also knew better than to continue arguing with her much longer on the topic. There was no proving her wrong, and he didn't want to start an argument. "If you say so..." he told her simply, ending the subject all together. If it was his daughter he would beat the crap out of the old creeper, end of topic. Clearly Angel would never have a daughter though, so he wouldn't know...which was something else he didn't care to think about.
Although she didn't seem saddened by her childhood he knew it had long lasting effects on her. It contributed to more things than she would admit to, though he wasn't going to bring any of those things up with her. It wasn't something she seemed to want to acknowledge. Angel's own childhood had been similar. "My father was never around either...he was a drunk, and my mother seemed to think tea parties were far more interesting than raising her children." As he said this, his eyes seemed to glaze over for a moment as he thought of his own childhood. It was so long ago and yet he remembered it so well, he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. "I raised Katheryn by myself" he said with a small nod. She'd probably already known that, but it was important to him nonetheless.
The sadness behind her eyes was easy to see, if one was actually looking. "That explains why skating is so dear to you.." he said softly. Next he made a mental note to make sure he took her skating soon. As far as he knew, she hadn't been in a very long time. Not only would that be a good way for them to spend time together, but it'd also mean a lot to her. Not to mention getting out of the house was a good thing in both of their eyes. They were always cooped up here and that was simply not a good thing. They could take Katheryn too, if Buffy didn't mind. It'd be a nice night out for them. Or day out..if Katheryn got a ring anytime soon.
At the slayer's refusal to talk more about it, Angel moved closer to her. He cupped both of his hands around her face so that she was forced to keep looking him in the eyes. She was going to tell him, whether she wanted to or not...whatever it was she was hiding, it was never good to keep things locked up. "How was she killed, Buffy? You're keeping something from me.." he cooed, hoping his velvety voice would pull her out of her hiding. Whatever it was he would help her through it, but she had to tell him first.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Smiling softly at his comment about raising Kathy she nodded. "I know, she told me about you...a lot actually. She told me how even though your father wasn't around much that she never really needed him because you were always there for her. She said that even though your mother was far more interesting in socializing that you both still knew that she loved you. About how she came up with the nickname Angel and how your mother started calling you that after awhile." She stated, her smile turning fond at the memory of Kathy's bright eyes as she told her about her older brother.
Smiling at the memory of their last skating adventure she nodded. "Skating was definitely dear to me...still is...though I don't think I've touched a pair of skates since..." She trailed off, trying to think before rolling her eyes. "Wouldn't you know the last time I was on skates was with you." She told him with a laugh. "And I think I had them on for all of ten minutes before that Order guy attacked me." She told him with a grin. "Dead guys on ice...would make a great musical." She stated, snickering at the thought lightly.
"The Sunnydale rink actually shut down a few months after you left for repairs but they never reopened it so never got a chance to go. I almost went one weekend to LA to go skating with Dawn but then mom got sick and well life just sort of went to hell from there." She stated with a shrug, knowing she was again bringing the conversation down but not being able to help it. Her life for the past few years had been one big drama after another so really what did anyone expect? She hadn’t exactly had sunshine and daisies with her life.
How the hell was she supposed to tell him that she had murdered someone in cold blood? Literally, she stabbed the girl in the back and hadn't cared one bit. Okay, so the last part was a lie. She hadn't ever dealt with the remorse that she felt on killing someone, she had been too wrapped up in making sure Dawn lived through the night that she hadn't really ever gotten over it. However that wasn't something that she wanted to tell Angel...so being evasive was the best way she could think to answer his question.
"She was a rogue slayer." She stated hollowly. "She was worse than Faith at her worst. She got pissed at Willow for not returning the feelings that she still had so she kidnapped someone and basically tortured her until myself, Faith, Willow, Tara and Dean found them. She had some higher up demon working with her and basically created all these vampires for us to fight. Kennedy was killed in the fight." She stated, letting on to the fact that they were around when she was killed.

It didn't surprise him that Katheryn had talked about him to Buffy. In the time that they'd known each other they had grown very close. Sometimes it seemed that they spent more time together than he actually did with Katheryn. Although he knew that couldn't be true as him and Katheryn were together quite often...It seemed that they both shared custody of Buffy together. The amazing thing was that Buffy wasn't sick of either one of them yet, which wouldn't have been the case for a lot of people. He was surprised that the slayer had time for anyone else between him and his sister. Angel nodded his head with a smile, thinking back to his mother. "She did love us...and yes, she did love socializing. I'm not sure which one she loved more but I'd like to think it was Kathy and I, despite not spending much time with either of us." Even though he hadn't spend much time with his mother, nor had Katheryn, she loved them both dearly. He just assumed that she hadn't ever truly been taught how to be a mother. Which honestly..shouldn't need to be taught in the first place. However that was neither here nor there at the moment.
Honestly it half surprised him that she hadn't skated in so long. However with all the craziness that seemed to surround all of their lives, it shouldn't have been such a surprise. It saddened him to think that it'd been that long for her though knowing how much she enjoyed it. "Wasn't that pretty rude of him?" he asked with a small laugh. "The order has no class. Never has" he then added with a small chuckle. One of the only times they'd tried to be normal and simply have a normal date, it'd been ruined by an assassin attacking them. It simply figured. Life couldn't even give them one moment of normality. However, he knew better than to expect anything normal out his or hers life.
Angel nodded. "Well maybe we can go sometime? Here, I mean. I'd imagine this town would be big enough to have their own rink. Or at least, one nearby" he said softly. Seeing the down look in her eyes he hoped this suggestion would cheer her up somewhat. After all there wasn't anything he hated more than to see her down. Knowing her when she was up meant that anything less simply saddened him.
Hearing about the rogue slayer he inclined his head. "Doesn't surprise me. Giving all of these girls such power is bound to have repercussions.." he told her softly, though not in any way wanting to blame her for any of it. However it was pretty true. Power sometimes ended badly and went to people's heads, this was no different. Even though she went on further he knew she was still hiding something. Damn it, what could be so awful that she couldn't tell him? So he prodded further. "Were you there when she...was killed?" he asked, wondering if that's why she was being so damned elusive.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Shaking her head once, her wet blonde hair moving as she did to which she moved it out of her face, she looked up at him with nothing but adoration. "I can't imagine a mother not loving her child or children as the case may be more than she loved socializing...or anything else for that matter." She stated, though she really had no frame of reference. "My mom worked a lot sure...but I know she loved Dawn and I." She stated before shrugging simply. "As for the mother part of that equation...I'm not a mom so I don't know...but it's not something that I can imagine. So I wouldn't question whether she loved you and Kathy more...she would have had to." She told him, her hand on his arm, hoping to give him some sort of comfort though she knew that over two hundred years had passed.
“As for fathers…fathers are usually assholes.” She stated with a laugh. “But you know what I’ve learned? Those who step in and act like father’s even though they aren’t biologically…they seem to make the best parents. You raised Kathy while still essentially raising yourself. Giles stepped in for not only me, but for Willow and Xander too. You two are two of the best men that I’ve ever known…” She trailed off, hoping that he would understand the sentiment.
Giles words played out at her. She never really acknowledged them as she truly hadn’t heard them until they sunk into her brain later on. The music that had constantly been playing had essentially been drowned out by her own thoughts until later on when she had been alone. I wish I could say the right words...to lead you through this land. Wish I could play the father...and take you by the hand.
Snickering slightly she nodded. "Eh, I think he got his since I sliced his neck open with my skate. That'll teach him not to mess with a slayer who hasn't gotten to ice skate in awhile." She stated with a mock proud look on her face. Hearing his idea her eyes brightened and the smile that took over her face was almost blinding. "Really?! You'd go with me?" She asked him before sitting up and hugging him harder than she would a human...by a long shot. "I'd love it." She told him excitedly, not understanding how something so small could put such a smile on her face.
No one was truly surprised that there was a rogue slayer...nor were they surprised when they learned that it was Kennedy who had turned into one. They had a strict training process in place now that helped with it but before there were so many girls thrown into battle without really being able to take the time to train them not only in battle, but on ways to deal with it when it became too much.
Hearing his question she couldn't take it anymore. She didn't want to say the words but she figured telling him something small might give him the idea without forcing her to say it. Looking up at him once more, her eyes almost dead inside, something that was not a usual thing for her. "She kidnapped and tortured Dawn Angel. Where else do you think I would be?" She asked him.

Thinking about what she head, he shook his head as well. "That's because you didn't know our mother" he stated with a soft chuckle. However in all honesty it wasn't a laughing matter at all. Katheryn hadn't ever truly had the mother in her life that she deserved and wanted. Never had she had the feminine influence that a girl desires and needs when growing up. In his mind, that was one of the reasons she clung to Buffy so quickly. Buffy provided that feminine influence she hadn't ever had in her life before. It hadn't effected her too much as Katheryn was clearly very feminine, she just hadn't gotten to experience some of the things most girls do experience and should experience. "I don't know. Not something I think about too often anymore." After he finished his sentence, his eyes fell down to her hand on his arm. It was odd how soothing it felt to him, just a simple touch from her.
"I was forced to fit into that role for Katheryn, she didn't have anyone else. It was hard..but I did enjoy it" he told her softly. In all truth he did love that he'd been Katheryn's primary caretaker. His parents hadn't been there like they should have been, and it would have hurt Katheryn even more to be around them. Without him...well she probably wouldn't be as good as she was today. She was strong, but she'd only been a child back then. Technically she still was...though her maturity had skyrocketed since then clearly. To her statement about Giles he simply nodded a soft nod. He understood fully, and was glad that she had at least someone in her life to fill that role. While it might have been great to have her biological father..it probably would have only done her more damage than not having him around.
Again he found himself releasing a few soft chuckles. While he wasn't one to laugh hysterically or loudly, he did rumble a husky chuckle every now and then. Usually it happened with Buffy and Katheryn over anyone else. "Definitely a bad choice on his end. Pretty sure he learned his lesson though" he said with another small laugh. Their perfect day had been ruined by a freaky, supernatural event. However in their world that hadn't been anything new, even back then. Seeing the smile that spread all the way from ear to ear on her face, he knew it'd been a good suggestion. Score one for me, zip for Spike...Heh. "Why wouldn't I? Granted, not my favorite activity..but I will since you love it." When she hugged him, he wrapped his arms around her body with ease as she was so tiny. Due to her strength he knew that if he'd been a normal person, he'd have several broken ribs at this point. However it didn't bother him in the slightest.
The second that her eyes changed he knew there was more to this story. In fact he had a feeling that maybe, there was more to the story. "Buffy...did you have anything to do with her death? You can tell me, if you did.." he said, trailing off. He wanted to push her to tell him, but not hard enough to make her run from this. Something was eating her up inside and he could see it in her eyes.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She wasn't sure really what to say about his words about raising Kathy or their mother. She wanted to deny what he said about their mother preferring socializing over her children, but how could she when he was right, she didn't know his mother. That thought should bother her...the fact that she would never know the man that she loved's parents...but it didn't. Really why should it? It's not like she had parents anymore either. Her mother died several years before hand and her father hadn't been around years before that. She was alone as well...so why did it matter? She wished she could see his parents sure as they were a part of him and she wanted to know all about him, but it didn't really phase her that she never would.
For a moment when she mentioned that she would love to go skating she could have sworn she saw a triumphant glint in his eyes but before she could decipher what it meant it was gone. She didn't know what it meant and figured that questioning him on it would do no good but still, it was odd. Hearing his words she melted into his embrace, loving the feeling of his strong arms around you. "You know if men took lessons from you on how to be good to their girlfriends, spouses, friends, whoever, there would be a lot less divorce in the world." She commented randomly. "I mean men act like we are so difficult to understand. How hard is it to say we're pretty and give us chocolate?" She rambled on, clearly not really talking about anything important, just talking for the sake of it. Hey, it was what she did.
Hearing his question she immediately went rigid in his arms. She knew that by her silence he would most likely understand but she wasn't with him at the moment, at least not mentally. Physically she was in his arms, mentally she was back a few months on the beach, her mind racing at the memories that threatened to overtake her.
See the red stains on the knife bitch? That's your sister's blood...I slid it into her nice and slow, it was almost romantic in the way I cut into her. You might be able to give her your last words if you run.
You know it didn't have to be this way. You had a chance to do your job the way that it was meant to be done, yet you had to come into my town and attack my sister...that was a bad move on your part my dear.
She remembered having Faith's old knife in her back pocket, not really prepared to use it but knowing it would come. She wasn't sure to this day why she felt that that knife needed to be the one that severed the blow...but she knew it had been the right choice. She still could feel the feeling of Kennedy's knife plunging into her side as she thought she got one over on her.
Night Night Buffy.
She could remember falling though there wasn't really any reason for it. The wound was deep but it wasn't life imparing. She could remember pulling out the knife from her back pocket, seeing the moonlight glinting off the tip. To this day she didn't know if Faith saw it before she did what had to be done, but she knew that if she had the irony wouldn't be lost on her.
Kennedy. Rule one. Never turn your back on an opponent unless you are sure they are dead.
She remembered taking the knife and sticking it into her back. She remembered watching her fall. She remembered falling to her knees as she turned the brunette over and grabbing her hand to hold it. She had essentially paralyzed her where she stuck the knife in her back so she knew she wouldn't move...but that wasn't why she did it. Even in death, even evil, the two slayers had been sisters at one time.
Tears fell down her cheeks today just like they did then...and as she came back to the present she felt them more today than she did then. Remembering Angel’s question she answered in a hollow voice. “I’m the one who killed her.”

Even though she was completely rambling at the moment just for the hell of it, he took her statement as a comment nonetheless. Never had he thought of himself as the type to model good relationships, or a good boyfriend. Was he her boyfriend? He assumed that he was but they hadn't actually talked about it recently. Perhaps not only would they talk about that later but maybe he could finally do what he'd been wanting to do for months now; give her back his ring. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. He could give it back to her and make them official at the same time. In his mind he thought that she would like it, but he couldn't be sure...She'd probably wonder how he even had the damn ring. That was another conversation though. Bringing himself out of his thoughts, he distractedly laughed briefly.
"Oh yeah, definitely, I can see it now. I'd tell them all how I lost my soul, and tortured you and all of your friends." His voice was sarcastic but a small smile turned up at the corners of his lips. He was too modest to accept the compliment at full face value. No he had to twist in a way that it didn't seem to quite be a compliment anymore. It was just how he was and had always been. Plus a part of him didn't feel like he'd been very good to her at all. Back in Sunnydale he had simply left her, and recently he'd avoided her for months at a time after the Angelus situation. The second was her fault but still, he didn't exactly feel like a model...whatever the hell he was to her.
Quirking an eyebrow at her, he simply laughed. "Well, you're beautiful but sorry, I don't have any chocolate. Maybe next time?" Another chuckle escaped him. At least they were laughing tonight unlike some of their meetings. Some of them ended with his head being cracked open like an egg shell on the sidewalk. Lately all of their meetings had ended well actually. Which kind of freaked him out, as he had the 'calm before the storm' feeling within him. He hoped nothing messed things up between them but in their life, one never knew. It was simply one of the chances they took everyday by being close to each other.
The second that his question registered within her she simply froze. Her eyes seemed to glaze over and her entire body stiffened. The slayer he loved was no longer there, only a shell of her remained. Although she was still sitting in his arms she wasn't currently with him. If she hadn't seem so lost in her own thoughts, he would have called out to her. However it seemed that mentally she was either remembering something, or working through something. Either way he really didn't want to break her concentration at the moment. Plus, he didn't want to upset or bother her even further. Though with the look she had in her eyes, he couldn't help but be worried...
Finally it had seemed that she'd come back to him, though there were tears rolling down her cheeks. At the moment he made no attempt to wipe them away. It seemed that perhaps she needed a good cry, that she needed to get this out. As the words came from her lips he nodded. Originally he'd had a feeling that this was the case, but simply hadn't wanted to consider it an option. He knew that she'd had no choice...but he also knew how taking a life had an effect on someone. He knew from experience; it never left someone, and ate at them everyday of their life. After a few moments of allowing herself to fully come back to him, he reached up and grabbed her chin.
Forcing her to look at him, his eyes softened. "You had to, Buffy...you didn't have any other choice. Don't be so hard on yourself..." even as he told her this, he knew she couldn't help but be hard on herself. Taking a life was something that never left you, no matter how hard you tried to forget about it...He knew this because he had taken not one, but hundreds, if not into the thousands.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She shot him a half amused glare. "Yes, but other than that you've always been pretty perfect. You open doors, you say I'm pretty, you let me talk and don't pretend to listen, you don't look at other girls when I'm right there and then make idle comments about how nice their body parts are...you my love are pretty close to perfect. If you didn't have a few flaws I'd wonder if you were a robot." She stated with a laugh before sobering immediately, thinking of the Buffy Bot. She would tell him about it but it was creepy as hell and it would lead to a whole slew of questions about why they had a Buffy Bot and she doubted he would find the reasoning that Spike had it made amusing.
Yeah, totally not going to open that can of worms.
Grinning, she giggled. "Well thank you for the compliment and you're in luck that I actually have chocolate in the house...lots of it. With this many girls and this many schedules where they are going to having their time of the month, yeah, chocolate is desperate in this house...we'd probably all kill one another if we didn't have an abundance of it here." She stated with a grin, remembering a few weeks ago when she had to break up a fight because two of the potentials were fighting over the last pack of hot chocolate. It had been insane to hear the things coming from their mouths over some hot chocolate, but she and Willow had decided that shopping at Sam’s Club from now on and loading up on chocolate was the best way to go.
Should have thought of it sooner but oh well, live and learn and all that.
She could feel the teas wetting her cheeks but didn't move to stop them, and was glad that Angel didn't either. She didn't want to stop crying, for she hadn't let herself do it yet. After she had...done what she had done...she simply scooped Dawn up in her arms and made her way back to the boarding house. When they got home she ordered Willow and Tara to grab supplies and she went up to her room, taking Dawn with her and stripping her out of her clothes so that she could administer first aid as best as she could.
Between her first aid and Willow and Tara’s magic they were lucky that she didn’t need to go to the hospital, but anyone else who didn’t have a slayer and two witches on their side would have definitely needed surgery. As soon as Dawn was better the blonde slayer packed her sister up and sent her back to Rome where she would be safe. Dawn still was barely speaking to her because she wanted to stay but she couldn’t hear of it. Her biggest target was always Dawn because it was who she was most protective of…and she couldn’t let anything happen to her. After that she had thrown herself into training the girls, dealing with her issues with Angel, then Angelus, then Angel again, Spike, Faith, Willow, Giles, and everything else. She had simply not let herself mourn because she felt like she didn’t have the right to mourn. She knew that was ridiculous that it was how she felt.
Feeling a firm hand cup her cheek she fought her natural instinct to pull away but she refrained, knowing just by the cool skin and the hand itself who it was. She had almost forgotten that he was in the room, something that she could honestly say had never happened to her before. However with the way things were inside her head she figured it wasn't all that surprising. She heard his words but she didn't believe them. She remembered how he treated Faith when he found out that she killed someone and didn't care...shouldn't he be saying the same things to her?
She shook her head, refusing to believe him. "You don't know that." She told him, her voice still hollow. "You don't know the story...if you did, you'd hate me." She told him. She almost wanted to tell him her story, but wouldn't unless he asked. She wouldn't let it all out until he wanted to know only because she was afraid she would lose him. She had lost Angel too many times over the years and didn't want to go through that pain again.
But she felt like she owed it to him to tell him.

Perfect? Angel couldn't even imagine himself in terms of being perfect. In fact, he couldn't imagine himself as being even close. He supposed it was just being in love with someone else that made you see them as that. In his mind Buffy was absolutely perfect in every way. Except for in the sleeping with Spike-way... Never had she cheated on him or turned her back on him. When he'd come back from hell it had been her there taking care of him and no one else. Even after all they'd been through the both of them knew they could come to each other for help. Considering that they'd had more than one instance's with Angelus, he couldn't believe they'd managed to stay together. He simply assumed that was how real love was supposed to be...
In a way, Buffy had been the one to teach him how to love. She'd been the one who had showed him it was okay to be vulnerable with someone else. Although it was a slight rarity, he did show his vulnerability to her every so often. Not many people had ever seen it. Buffy, Cordelia, Faith, Doyle, Katheryn...that was about the end of the list. As short of a list as it was he knew that it was because these were the most important people in his life. Granted only about half of these people were still in his life today. Which wasn't necessarily his fault, though he'd thought it was for a very long time. However he was still happy with his life at the moment despite this. Slowly, he was beginning to grow happier again after all of the recent events and honestly, that scared him...
Seeing the look on his face made it seem like all of their trouble recently was worth it. It was what helped him to continue on living despite everything else. At hearing her comment about other girls, he shot her a look as well. "I don't look at other girls period" he said, making sure the record was straight. Although Angel was a man, he wasn't a caveman. He had Buffy in his life and everyone knew how much of a handful she alone was. He didn't need other girls in his life, nor did he want other girls in his life. Never had he cheated on her or even come close, nor would he ever. It was simply a part of who he was. He was honorable, and a good guy, despite his other half being the exact opposite of both.
Ah, females time of the month...he knew Buffy's all too well. In fact, though he'd never tell her this, he knew exactly when she was on hers. Not only could he smell it but if one knew her at all they could just tell. Usually he stayed far away on those days. "Probably a good idea" he said with a small chuckle. The last thing this house needed was a bunch of hormone-induced fighting between teenage girls. As if they didn't have enough drama in all of their lives at the moment.
It seemed that his words hadn't helped her to feel better at all. The tears were still flowing. Still he didn't make any attempt to wipe them away. She needed a good cry, after all she'd been through, and he was more than willing to sit here while she worked through it. Still looking directly into her eyes he shook his head. "I could never hate you.." he told her in his soft velvety voice. While she might not believe it, everything about that statement had been true. He knew this entire thing was eating away at her..."If you want to talk about it, you can. If you want to sit here and cry, go ahead. Whatever you need to do...or need me to do...just let me know" he said softly. Something within her eyes was broken...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She laughed at his statement about not looking at other girls. "I know honey." She told him, patting his arm in a mocking way, but her eyes were twinkling at the knowledge that she felt secure in the fact that he didn't look at other women. "And that's my point. Most guys will do the following, they'll take their girlfriend out to dinner, and the waitress will flirt with them. As the waitress walks away they'll watch them, checking out their butts as they do. Then when their girlfriend goes to the bathroom the waitress will come back over and slip him her phone number, in which he will quickly add into his phone under a name such as 'Joe' or 'Bill' or something and then give it back, that way no one is the wiser." She told him matter of factly. She hadn't had this happen to her personally but after going to college for two years and hearing about what the other girls went through, plus all the movies and television shows she had watched, she knew that was what most men did.
She groaned as she heard his chuckle. "You don't even know how bad it's gotten here" She stated with another groan. "I mean seriously, it's awful. I promise you we go get chocolate like once a week and by Friday it's gone. It's insane. I like chocolate as much as the next girl, you know that, but still, these girls are almost vicious when trying to get some chocolate. It's crazy how insane they go...was I ever that bad as a teenager?" She asked him, though she probably really didn't want to know his answer. Also if he knew what was good for him he would be very careful on how he answered. It was just like when girls asked their boyfriends if they were fat…there was no good answer. If they said yes they were assholes, if they said no then they were simply telling them what they wanted to hear.
The tears weren't even registering in her brain, but she knew that she had to tell him. She wanted to, she really did, but how could she open up that part of herself to a man that had held her on a pedestal for so long? If she was being honest with herself she liked it up there. She liked being on this pedestal in Angel's mind that no one could touch. She knew that he looked to her as if she was perfect, even though realistically she knew that he was well aware of the fact that she had faults...yet they didn't matter to him. Her faults made her even more perfect in his eyes, and she really didn't want to ruin that.
"I want to tell you." She told him quietly. "I don't want there to be secrets between us...there has been enough of those as it is. But I'm scared too Angel."She whispered. "It's hard enough for me to think the words...let alone say them. And to say them to you? That is even harder." She told him, hoping that he would reassure her that it wouldn't change the way he felt about her...because she was being needy at the moment, but really, who wouldn't be?

Although it seemed like such a trivial thing..it seemed to mean all of the world to her that he didn't look at any other girls. Clearly he had to look at them sometimes...but he didn't check them out or whatever the hell they called it these days. Some of their phrases changed so often he couldn't really keep up. Anyways, looking at other girls in that way didn't even cross his mind...Though he was glad that she found it such a good thing, it simply seemed natural to him. It was how he'd always been with her. Angel quirked an eyebrow at her. "You act like you know from experience" he asked, though he doubted it so. Still he had to ask..it was Buffy. Hopefully even if it had happened to her personally she wouldn't tell him. He wasn't particularly fond of hearing about her dates with other men.
Nope, not fond at all.
At her next question he found himself having to think harder than he probably really needed to. Of course she wasn't bad as a teenager. However was she difficult...extremely. He didn't exactly think she'd want to hear that from him though. After a moment of thought, he shook his head. "About chocolate, no. You liked your ice cream..." he said with a small chuckle. "And your mocha...whatever it was. But chocolate, no. You loved it a good amount" he said with a tiny smirk, playing on her question of her asking how bad she was. Something else popping into his mind he couldn't help but allow a sly little smile, barely noticeable, turn his cheeks up. "You know...if you're getting a little tired of the girls, you could always stay downstairs.. he said in his signature velvety voice, trying to make it impossible for her to say no. Yes, he used the fact that she found him extremely attractive against her sometimes. Seemed too easy and dumb not too!
As the tears continued to cascade down her warm cheeks he couldn't help but feel his heart slowly breaking for her. It seemed neither of them could catch a break in this world. He understood her worries completely, but what she didn't understand was, that she didn't need to worry about them. What happened had been something she'd been forced into...She hadn't wanted to kill Kennedy. She hadn't wanted to kill one of her sister slayers. However it had been her or her own sister, and that hadn't left her much choice. One hand fell onto her knee where it laid to provide her a bit of comfort. The other rested just below her chin where he was still forced to hold on to her, not wanting her to turn away from him.
"Whatever it is...you Tcan tell me. I love you Buffy. Whatever it is won't make me lose that for you.." he tried to explain softly, trying not to push but also make her feel slightly better about it. No matter what she came out and said he would be there for her, as she had been there for him so many times.
