- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Shrugging one shoulder thoughtfully she grinned. "Maybe Giles should have taken up a different occupation instead of becoming a Watcher slash School Librarian slash Magic Box owner. Maybe he should have been a famous actor. Oh, no better idea! He should have been on Broadway. I mean he can clearly act if none of us suspected anything and he can actually sing pretty well, plus he plays guitar. I'm not sure about Giles' dancing abilities and really I don't want to know but still, would have probably made him a lot more money in the long run." She rambled on, a light in her eyes that anyone who knew her clearly knew she'd be messing with Giles later on about this very thing.
She could see the almost pout on Angel's perfect lips and for a moment she thought about kissing him but refrained, not knowing if it was a good idea or not. They very rarely had time like this together and she really didn't want to spoil it. She was sure because they were at least a tiny bit happy (clearly not perfectly happy as Angel was still sitting next to her and not Angelus...which would have definitely not been good at this rate) that the furies of hell were going to land on them at any minute to remind them of why they couldn't enjoy a life together...but for now she'd take what she could get. "Yes Angel, four hundred. You know, about a hundred and fifty years older than you my love?" She asked him with a giggle, which turned into full blown laughter when her words reminded her of a time that usually she didn’t think of but it was too funny not to tell him.
“Okay, so I don’t know if you know this but did anyone ever tell you about Willow blinding Giles?” She asked him. “Or turning Xander into a demon magnet? This was a few years ago, right after Oz left her and she was really depressed. Things were going on and unfortunately we all were dealing with it and apparently Willow felt left out so she did a spell to make her will be done or something, I don’t really know what she did as yeah, magic squigs me out but anyway…she got pissed at Giles and told him he didn’t see anything, thus turning him blind, told Xander he was a demon magnet thus setting all these demons on him and…” She trailed off, realizing that while yes, this story was quite funny, she had a feeling Angel was going to be less than amused to find out what happened next.
“And it was during the time when Spike had a chip in his head and we had him chained in a bathtub. Anyway he got loose and I had been talking to Willow when Giles called. I told her that I had to leave and I went out to find him, which was really simple. Anyway later on she had talked to Xander and when he tried to explain that I had to find Spike she stated ‘So why doesn’t she just go marry him then?’ or something along those lines. Next thing I know Spike and I are engaged…it was fucking weird but anyway, that’s not the funny part…though it was funny to see how mean we were to one another. Anyway, so I was looking at wedding dresses later and Riley showed up…this was before we had gotten together. Riley saw me looking at them and was really confused, I told him I was getting married and blah blah blah. He asked what his name was and I said Spike. He asked if that was a name and I told him not to be mad. He asked if he went to school with us and I laughed and told him no that Spike was totally old...and then I made a comment about not as old as my last boyfriend was." She stated with a giggle before sobering up. "Okay, that story was a lot funnier in my head than it sounded now. Guess you just had to sorta be there. Anyway, sorry, when you pouted about AJ being older it reminded me of that...sorry." She stated, closing her eyes and sighing. She really needed to work on her rambling issue.
Nodding her head she smiled softly, stroking his cheek. "As much as I know you don't want to hear this, they were right you know. You do have an angelic face. Giles told me that you know, after I found out you were a vampire...after our first kiss. I told him about you being a vampire and asked him to tell me if there were such things as good vampires. Later on he told me that he couldn't find any references to 'Angel' but he found some in reference to 'the demon with the angelic face', I remember telling him he got that right. He asked me if you had a tattoo on your shoulder and when I confirmed it he told me it was you." She told him. "I don't blame you for wanting to separate your old life and your new. But you're two different people Angel...and anyone who doesn't see that...doesn't deserve to know you." She whispered.
Snorting when Angel said the word 'snuggable'. She couldn't help it and she knew her face was beat red, probably matched Willow's hair, but still. Snuggable? "If I bring a tape recorder around later will you repeat that word so I can use it as my text tone?" She asked him playfully, knowing full well there was no way in hell he would let her do that.
Hearing him say that he loved her every day of the month made her want to take her place on his lap and snuggle herself into his chest but she refrained, not knowing how he would take it. "As I love you." She whispered to him softly.
She laughed as he shook his head furiously. Clearly he didn't want her to get Botox though she couldn't for the life of her imagine why. Then again, she doubted she would do it, but still, she didn't want to look old. "You and I both know I've aged." She told him before proving it to him. Pulling out her cell phone she showed him a picture of her and the Giles when she was sixteen, wondering lightly if he would realize that she was wearing the jacket he had given her, and then another picture of her that one of the girls who loved to take pictures had taken and then never developed until they had gotten to Rome. She had definitely aged. "Only a few years older though. You were what, twenty eight when you were turned?" She asked him, having known this a long time ago but at the moment she couldn't remember.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -Laughing aloud at the thought of Giles dancing, he couldn’t help but grin at the thought of it. While him and Giles weren’t friendly and hadn’t been in a very long time, he still held a lot of respect for the man. ”But really, how many different roles could he play?” Pondering this to himself, he couldn’t think of many. Giles seemed to only fit the role of the stuffy librarian or overbearing father. That would come in handy and at times and hinder him at others. ”I don’t see him getting too many parts” he told her, arching an eyebrow after speaking as he continued to think about it. Although the entire conversation about this was a bit silly it was actually nice. It was nice to have something to laugh about after having only screamed at each other in their last couple of visits. Silly or not, he was going to enjoy it and not take it for granted. So what if this other Angel was older than him? Angel would like to see him in a fight, he really would. Age didn’t matter too much when one had the skill as Angel himself did. He would throw the other man around like a rag doll in a heartbeat, and laugh the entire time. Plus what in the hell was she doing being friends with a soulless vampire? That just didn’t spell out intelligent, no matter how hard you looked at it. Then again he also knew that Buffy had a decent judge of character (except for Spike, clearly) and so he decided not to deliberate on It too much. ”One hundred and fifty years is nothing. Plus, I bet he’s looking a little worn around the eyes” he huffed. It reminded him of the time when Buffy had met Darla, saying the same thing to her. That had been the night that in his mind, she realized how much he really loved her, after killing his sire to save her. Although she didn’t really give him time to answer her question, he was able to shake his head ‘no’ quick enough before she went in on her story. Although it was kind of amusing at first things quickly went sour the second he heard Spike’s name. Oh, then he got to hear about Riley as well. Goodie. Yeah, definitely not his favorite story. Even when she told him why she’d went into the story, he was still kind of confused. That was a very, very light connection to bring something like that up. Not truly knowing what to say he simply furrowed his brows at her, casting them down in a ‘V’ shape as if confused. That truly seemed to have come out of nowhere. While he loved her stories and didn’t mind one bit hearing them, and wanted to know her better, that just seemed…random. Plus not to mention that she’d mentioned two of her ex-lovers in it. Definitely hadn’t been a story to put him in a better mood. Angel nodded. Yes he had an angelic face, though he wasn’t sure if that still held true. Although physically he hadn’t actually aged, he felt like all of the things he’d been put through and all of the fighting had slightly worn him down. He would fight to end and there was no doubt about that, but it just seemed that perhaps he was a bit tired these days. It wouldn’t affect his skill any, just his soul. It didn’t matter. He had nothing if he didn’t keep fighting and he knew it, it was his responsibility to atone for her sins. ”I know” he said simply, wanting to get off the topic. Thinking about Angelus wasn’t anything he wanted to do around her at the moment. Besides, the fact that they were two different people just confirmed the fact that she had flat out cheated on him. The fact that he hated this topic was clear to see as he looked away from her for a moment. Being brought back on the topic slightly of Katheryn put him in a bit of a better mood, though not too much. ”Never again” he said, though not angrily just truthfully. It had sounded foreign even before it came out of his mouth, just hadn’t known another word to use. He wouldn’t be caught dead saying it again though, definitely in front of anyone other than Buffy herself. Hearing their love confirmed was something he not only wanted, but had needed. After the past couple of visits they’d had, he needed to hear her say those words. He needed it to be known that they still loved each other. Without love, what did they have? A messy past full of angst and hurt and loss? Looking at the pictures, he noticed that she’d been wearing his jacket back then. It made his heart ache a little. For a moment he wondered if she still had it, but decided against asking. For now, he would do something else. ”Yes, twenty eight…and aging isn’t bad Buffy. No one can be sixteen forever no matter how hard they try” he spoke softly. ”Unless you’re sired at sixteen I guess…and that doesn’t count” he added thoughtfully. Standing up and off the bench, he eyed her carefully. He wasn’t sure if he should do what he was thinking of doing, but decided he had nothing to lose. Reaching into his jeans pocket he pulled out her cross necklace she’d thrown in the cemetery the other night. After they’d parted ways, he had doubled back to grab it. ”I don’t know if you even want this…but I --- I went back for it. I can keep it, if you don’t want it” he said nervously, holding it out for her to stand up and put it back on if she wanted to.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 978 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She couldn't help but star when she heard Angel's laugh. Angel had never been the type to laugh a lot when she had known him before. He was always the serious brooding man while if you would see him now he wouldn't remind you of that man at all. Sure she knew that Angel was still the same as he used to be...but he seemed almost freer in that moment. She couldn't remember the last time she saw him laughing like that and while the sight of it made her grin at him, the thought that their entire relationship she had barely ever seen him laugh made her sad.
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts from where they were headed she grinned at him instead. "You're right...he would be hard pressed to find a lot of roles. Then again, he was Mr. Ripper back in the day so you never know... I mean I can clearly remember his outfit when Sunnydale's band candy was cursed by Ethan and Giles turned became a teenager...along with all the other adults in town. He had these dark jeans and a black t-shirt on, his hair was a mess and he was smoking." She told him, giggling at the memory before she remembered exactly what had happened during that and groaned. "Damn, and I really wish I wouldn't have remembered that. Do you know a store that sells brain bleach?" She asked him, her hands rubbing her eyes as if trying to get the memory of what she had learned while hearing voices out of her head.
Snickering at his comment. "Yeah well I think we both know how I feel about people who are worn around the eyes." She stated, her tone light though it was a bit forced as she remembered Darla and her time in Sunnydale. "AJ would die if he starting wearing around the eyes...I mean he would freak out and immediately start looking for a mirror...forgetting that he had no reflection." She told him, grinning at the plan that formed in her head that had to do with AJ, a mirror, and some makeup. Hmmm....that would be interesting. She would definitely have to put that particular plan in action. She didn't know it but her eyes lit up in a mischievous way and alerted anyone who knew her that she was planning something, which was definitely a sign that someone should run far away.
Knowing he wanted to get off the topic of Angelus and anything else that was remotely serious she let him skip over it...not wanting either one of them to get angry again. However she had to tell him one small thing to his statement about not aging. "Aging wasn't ever something I was scared of...until I fell in love with you. It is a bad thing, when the love of my life will stay young and handsome forever...and if I'm lucky, I'll eventually get to old to be seen with him." She told him quietly, looking away from him to not show the tears in her eyes at the thought. It was honestly one of her worst fears...though it was worse than a fear...it was the coming future...and one that she couldn't avoid.
Feeling him move from beside her she quickly looked over and saw her standing up. She watched as he rummaged around in his pocket and for a moment her brain started to think he was doing something else but she quickly ended that thought, knowing there was no way that she and Angel would ever take that step...no matter how badly she wished they could. Seeing what he pulled out her eyes welled up. She quickly stood up, noting that it was wrapped in velvet so it wasn't touching his skin. "It's one of my most cherished possessions Angel. It's one of the few things that I took with me when I left Sunnydale. Most everything that I took had something to do with you. I threw it because I was mad...not because I didn't want it. I actually went back the next day to look for it but it was gone. I definitely want it back...if you're willing to give it back to me." She told him, not realizing that not only was she talking about the cross, but about his heart as well.
She wanted both, but she would settle for the cross for the right now.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -When she stared at him for a moment he couldn’t help but wonder why. Did he sound like a goof or something? It was definitely possible considering the fact that he rarely ever laughed. However he’d been laughing quite frequently today with her. Honestly he was just overjoyed at the fact that they could speak to each other civilly again instead of pushing each other into headstones and screaming. While she had done most of that, he’d had his fair share of yelling back at the boarding house after getting his memory of Angelus’ trysts back. One of his eyebrows arched to her as she stared at him, simply wondering what was on her mind. Didn’t she know she could tell him anything and everything? He wanted her to at least, not only to tell him but to know that she could and that everything would be okay. Seeing her smile made him feel a bit better but he still wanted to know what she’d been thinking about.
Thinking of Giles’ past kind of made him internally laugh, though not aloud this time. It seemed that when he’d laughed the last time was when she’d begun the staring. ”I remember him saying that he used to have a knack for the dark magic’s, surprised we never really seen that side of him come out. Granted dark magic’s aren’t anything to play around with but hey, we might have been able to use it from time to time.” While the watcher had been a great researcher, Willow had always held the magical power. Even when she’d only just begun to learn she had shown a lot of potential. To think of the girl she used to be compared to the strongest witch he’d ever known now made him smile a small bit. ”Hate to say that I don’t, maybe Willow could help?” he asked, clearly intrigued but not wanting to ask. He was curious about whatever it was she wanted to forget, but didn’t want to ask. If she wanted him to know she’d tell him, he trusted her to not worry about whatever it was too much. Feeling a bit bad about making a comment to remind her of the mother of his child, his eyes sank to the floor. It was only for a moment but as they came back up to meet hers they were a bit apologetic. As he hadn’t wanted to be reminded of Angelus and her, he shouldn’t have reminded her of Darla. It hadn’t been intentional but the second it’d left his lips he’d regretted it. ”That reminds me of Willow, back in Sunnydale when she learned I was a vampire. She asked me how I shaved” he said with a small laugh. Her bringing up the fact that vampires had no reflection seemed to really remind him of that moment, a moment he still remembered to this day. It had been funny and endearing at the same time. Arching another eyebrow at her as he saw the look on her face, he immediately knew she was plotting something. That was never good; he had learned that a long time ago. Hopefully it involved this A.J. character and not him. Hearing her voice crack slightly and the tears well in her eyes as she spoke, he felt his heart ache as she turned away from him. Reaching out to grab her chin gently he turned her head to look back at him, allowing her to be let go once she was facing him once again. ”I don’t care about that…I know you don’t believe me, but I don’t. I’ll always love you Buffy and I’ll always be here…until the end. Even then I could never be without you…I’ve done it before but I won’t do it again. I’ll stay with you until the day we both die…” he told her, his own voice a tad bit emotional. If she was going to die, he would make sure he did as well. He wasn’t suicidal but he’d already lived without her once for a few months and refused to do it again. Barely making it through the first time, he knew he wouldn’t be able to do it for a second time. It just wasn’t possible nor did he consider it an option. He was in this until the end and needed her to know that. Even though she was simply asking for the cross, she was asking for so much more and he knew it. Whether or not she knew it he couldn’t tell, but he knew it. So instead of using words he simply moved behind her and lightly pushed the hair on her neck aside. Once her skin was bare, he took the necklace out of the velvet and put the velvet back into his pocket. Even though it hurt, he wrapped the necklace around her and fastened it at the back. One hand gently moved her hair back of her neck, grazing the skin by her shoulder. The entire time he did all of this, his hands were smoking. Burn marks were singed into his skin and she could probably smell it, but he didn’t care. The moment had been so intimate and had said so much that it was very much worth the small amount of pain he’d had to endure.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 891 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Seeing him staring at her she blushed, realizing that he had in fact caught her staring at him. Yeah, that wasn't embarrassing at all. Turning her head away she felt the red staining her cheeks as she cleared her throat, really, how did she tell him that she was staring at him marveling at how insanely beautiful he was when he laughed. For one thing not many men that she knew liked to be called beautiful, though he truly was. And for another thing she knew it would embarrass him and possible make him stop laughing and that's definitely not what she wanted. So she went with an old stand by...especially for her."Uhh...sorry about the staring...I zoned out a bit." She told him, hoping he didn't see through her small fib. It was true that she had zoned out thinking about how beautiful his laugh was but again, she doubted he would want to hear that.
She nodded, not wanting to get into Giles past and it disturbed her on levels thinking about ‘ripper Giles’….she much preferred her old stuffy Giles…or at least the later version who wasn’t as stuffy though still clearly uptight and British. She at least then knew what to expect from him.
Wincing she sighed. “I know you guys called Willow a few times to help out when you were in Los Angeles…or I remember at least one. However I really try as hard as I can not to have to ask for her help for things like that.” She told him, wincing as she clearly remembered not only the last time Willow had done a memory spell on her and Tara, but also when Tara had been killed and she had gone off the deep end which resulted in her killing Warren who had killed Tara. “Willow sort of let the magicks control her for awhile…I mean she got really in depth with it and ended up…” She trailed off, knowing that if it was anyone else she would keep Willow’s secret but it was Angel and she used to tell him everything, so why not start that again? “She ended up killing the man who shot and killed Tara and who shot me. She flipped him inside out and then tried to go after two innocent guys who hadn’t killed anyone but they had been friends with the guy and helping the guy who killed Tara.” She told him, her eyes trained downwards. “She’s fine now but I still worry…so anything that I can do without magic…I try. I had to ask her to activate all the slayers when the first came and I hated doing it…but there was no other choice.” She told him, hoping he would understand.
“She tried to do a memory spell on me and Tara when I had first gotten back from heaven. She wanted me to forget heaven and Tara to forget that they had been fighting over her using too much magic. We ended up all losing our memories…none of us had any idea who we were. I didn’t even have an ID on me so I ended up having to name myself. Spike and Giles thought they were father and son and Spike thought his name was ‘Randy Giles’ to which he was not happy about. Anya and Giles thought they were engaged and Willow and Xander thought they were together…but Willow also thought she was kinda gay. Sounds funny but we almost got killed a couple of times too. So memory spells squig us all out.” She told him, hoping that answered enough of his statement. She doubted he wanted to know that Giles and her mother had slept together.
Hearing about Willow’s question about shaving she laughed. “That totally sounds like something Willow would ask even now.” She told him with a laugh. “I’ll admit, sometimes I forget that you don’t have a reflection. At least you show in photos. My Sunnydale High School yearbook has a ton of you in them.” She stated with a laugh, remembering all the inserts her friends had put into her yearbook.
Feeling his hand grip her chin she stared at him, knowing he had something to say about her getting old. Hearing his words should have made her feel better, and some of them did, but she still hated it...especially the end. "Angel, you have a job to do. You can't cease to exist the same day that I do. What about Kathy? What about the people you're supposed to protect...you survived without me for five years...you have to live Angel. If I die tomorrow I need to know that you'll be there to protect the people that we love. Promise me." She begged him, needing him to understand. The only reason she had been able to jump off that portal all those years ago was because she knew that he would still be there to protect those she loved.
Feeling the cool metal of the cross being fastened around her neck she sighed in almost physical relief, her hand reaching out to hold it to her, needing that connection. Turning around so she was facing him she smiled, tears in her eyes. "Thank you." She told him. Seeing his fingers smoking slightly she leaned down and kissed them, wanting to take away any pain that he felt. Bringing her face up again she stood on her tip toes and placed a small kiss on his lips, not daring to deepen it though she desperately wanted too. "I love you." She whispered.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -Noticing that she’d blushed at having been caught, he decided not to interrogate her about it. Clearly whatever it was she didn’t want to talk about it or she would bring it up. Buffy didn’t usually hold things in. If she had something to say she’d tell you about fifty times if she had to. However clearly she did seem to be holding something in when she lied right to his face about simply ‘zoning out’. He knew her better than anyone (or at least he seemed to think so) and knew when she was lying. This was definitely one of those times. He could always tell because not only did she kind of suck at it but she always looked away from him when she was lying to him. ”You’re lying” he said flatly, though in a light tone so as not to further have her insist that she didn’t want to tell him. ”What is it?” the vampire asked, head slightly cocked to the side. What was it that she couldn’t seem to tell him? Hopefully it wasn’t anything too life threatening since she seemed so resistant to tell him. Angel nodded to her, though also noticed that she had winced. ”Only a couple times. Once to restore my soul” he told her as he thought about it. Realizing that the only other time she’d known he had lost his soul had been when he slept her, he quickly dove back in to explain. Obviously he didn’t want her thinking he went and slept with someone and lost his soul. She had only ever been the person he’d been able to have true happiness with, that hadn’t changed and never would. He couldn’t let her think that it had, especially in a time like this. ”It’s not what you think” he said quickly, narrowing in on her features with his brown orbs. ”I had to let Angelus out of his cage to defeat a big bad…he’d defeated him in the past, and was the only one to know how. Once he was gone Willow gave me my soul back” he explained, remembering it like it’d only been yesterday. ”Faith injected a tranquilizer into her blood system right before I drank from her, since she tried to defeat me in a fight and couldn’t. Once I was contained…there came Willow” he said, finishing his story. Maybe he shouldn’t have brought up the Faith thing as he knew she particularly didn’t like their relationship, but it’d been part of the story. What was the point of telling it if you weren’t going to tell the entire thing? He wasn’t one to leave out details unless he necessarily had to. He seen the wince after she’d said that, but had gotten a bit distracted telling her the story. However after raising an eyebrow to her he waited for her to continue with whatever it was she was clearly worried about. ”Tara?” he said, slightly interrupting her. As she went on he listened carefully and nodded his head. While he knew a lot of people lost themselves in magic, he was surprised to hear that Willow had as well. She had always been so responsible that he almost couldn’t believe it. However as he listened more to the details, he realized it’d been led mostly by emotions. Now that didn’t surprise him, that made sense. While she acted tough he had learned that Willow was sensitive deep down. ”You were shot?...” he asked, eyebrows raised in concern. Immediately feeling guilty that he’d been so concerned about her being shot and only plucking that out of the entire story. Now it all seemed to make sense, why he didn’t see Willow do much magic with how powerful she was. ”At least she’s doing better now. I can’t believe she actually killed those men…something like that never leaves a person” he said thoughtfully. He made a mental note to pay attention to the witch even more from now on. If she seemed down, he’d offer her himself to talk to. He obviously wouldn’t bring up what Buffy had told him as it probably wasn’t something she wanted people to know, but if she told him on her own, he’d talk through it with her. Clearly he knew a decent amount of feeling guilty for all the lives he’d taken. While he hadn’t had a soul while he’d done it, it’d still be in his body…his mind…his heart, and he felt the guilt every moment of everyday. It hadn’t left him in centuries and he knew it never would. Not being able to restrain his laughter, he couldn’t help but chuckle quite enthusiastically as she told him about ‘Randy Giles’. ”Randy Giles?” he said smirking and bursting out in laughter. It slightly amused him to think of Spike in that way, being that he wasn’t a fan of the bleach blonde vampire. Never had been. He never understood why Drusilla had chosen him to be her progeny. With another small laugh, he nodded. ”I never understood why I show in pictures yet have no reflection. Doesn’t make sense” he said, pondering that very same thing. It seemed only logical that someone without a reflection wouldn’t be reflected into the camera lens. Then again nothing in either of their worlds had ever been ‘logical’. Angel wasn’t able to say anything back to her about moving on after she died. He didn’t want to accept it. Instead he simply shook his head and looked away. While he knew that she was right he couldn’t seem to accept this fact, nor would he ever admit it. It was far too painful. Thankfully she seemed to drop it and his eyes closed as she kissed his fingers. Already they were beginning to heal and had stopped smoking. Before he knew it her lips were on his and before he knew it again, they were gone. As they ceased to kiss he opened his eyes back up to look into hers. ”I love you” he told her softly.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 1,008 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Groaning out loud when he called her out on her lie she threw him a glare though the undertones of it were playful to let him know that she really wasn't mad at him. "Seriously, how is it that I can lie to anyone but you?" She asked him with a pout on her pink lips. "I mean realistically it's been several years since we spent more than a few hours together up until a couple weeks ago and yet somehow you still know me better than anyone else...how is that?" She rambled on before realizing she had never answered his question. She wondered if she could ramble on enough to distract him but after taking a look at the determined look on his face she quickly conceded that there was no way he was going to let her get away with not telling him. “It’s nothing Angel…I was just thinking…how…handsome you look when you laugh, okay?” She asked, her face flushing again. She wasn’t one to usually blush but something about the vampire next to her made her turn into a bumbling school girl which was ironic since she had never really been a bumbling school girl in the first place.
Pretty bad when she had more self confidence in the guy department when she was sixteen than she did now at the age of twenty five.
Hearing him say that Willow had to go to restore Angel's soul in Los Angeles she swore her heart stopped. Jesus, how much more could she take...or how really how much more was she expected to take? She wanted to cry, wanted to shout out, but luckily before she did any of those she heard his velvety voice interject and tell her it wasn't what she thought. She turned to him, her eyes begging him to tell her that she wasn't going to have to take his head to a headstone again and almost breathed an audible sigh of relief when he told her exactly what had happened. She nodded thoughtfully before looking at him apologetically, knowing he didn't like talking about Angelus, especially with her and especially in light of recent events. Luckily she had chosen to ignore anything about biting Faith…didn’t want to know at all. Really didn’t even want to think about it. She figured it wasn’t worth the fight or the headache.
"I always wondered that you know." She told him before elaborating. "If there was someone or something that Angelus could fight but that you couldn't...and what would happen if that was the case. Would you go down trying...or would you find a way to strike a deal with the devil so to speak." She told him truthfully, remembering all the things that she used to think about after Angel came back from hell. "I have a lot of questions like that...things I don't know...things I don't understand...and really no one to answer them...as most people don't know." She told him idly. "Can I ask...how did you let him out? I mean I thought the curse held him...I didn't know it was really you that held him. And I'm going to shut up now. I know you don't like talking about this stuff. You don't have to answer if you don't want...it's none of my business anyway." She told him, throwing him another apologetic glance.
She nodded once. "Tara was Willow's girlfriend...she was Willow's everything to be honest. They met back in our Freshman year of college and when Oz left they got closer. Oz came back once and by then Willow had already fallen in love with Tara." She told him, remembering her surprise when she found out about Tara and Willow. "She's doing a lot better now. It's more me and Xander...and sometimes Giles, that worry. She really doesn't, at least I don't think she does. But we were all there, we saw what she did, what she was capable of..." She told him, her mind going back to that day. "She pulled an Angelus you know; she tried to end the world. Xander was the one who saved it. He was the only one who could get to her in the way that we needed to." She told him softly. "And yet, even when she had lost it...she still saved my life. I would have died if it wasn't for her. I was on the operating table and the doctors couldn't get the bullet out fast enough...and yet she did. She came by and dissolved the bullet into thin air. I owe her...a lot." She told him before frowning. "And yet even though I know that, I still harbor anger towards her." She whispered out, not wanting to admit that. "She only killed one man. We were able to save the other two." She told him softly.
Giggling at his smirk and laugh when she told him about Randy Giles she grinned. "Oh it gets better, Giles threatened to put him over his knee if he didn't stop being an ass. He also didn't realize he was British so he was making fun of Giles' accent and then we all sorta looked at him and he popped out a few British words and realized he was all British. He had called Giles a nancy boy...so of course Giles spit back at him 'welcome to the nancy tribe'. It was quite an interesting experience." She giggled again, shaking her head at the memory.
"I don't know why you show up in pictures...but I'm glad you do." She told him honestly. "I don't know if I would have made it after you left Sunnydale without the..." She trailed off, getting a little choked up at remembering that summer and how upset she had been. She had learned to mask it a bit better once school started but that didn't mean she didn't see Angel everywhere she went. "Without the pictures that I have of us. I think I would have wondered if you were real, or if I just imagined you up somehow. No one talked about you, they didn't want to hurt me. They did everything we did before, they just sorta acted like I never had a partner in it." She told him, really not sure why she was bringing this all up but figuring that today was to get everything out in the open (without the usage of headstones as bowling balls) so figured this was the best time. "Some of the pictures from us at prom are breathtaking. Someone shot a picture of us and posted it online...Willow found it. It's a picture of us when you first walked in. The look on our faces, it's palpable...how much we loved...how much we love each other." She told him, her eyes trained on the grass as she spoke.
Realizing she had to ask, she had to tell him...she looked at him...her eyes boring into his as she spoke. "Promise me something?" She asked him, trying not to cry as the memories of losing him more than once rushed over her. "Don't leave me again." She whispered.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -It seemed that he had caught her in a lie just as expected. When she glared at him he simply stared back, waiting for her to tell the truth. He could wait all day if he had to, all of eternity even. She wasn't going to be able to sneak anything past him that was for sure. In fact she'd never really been able to so why she thought she could now was beyond him. When she asked how he was the only one she couldn't lie to, he simply shrugged. "I think it's the face" he said with a grin. How could anyone lie to someone with an angelic face? Although he wasn't full of himself at all, that's what he was known for. Clearly it was a joke. For some reason today he was in a joking mood. Probably having something to do with the fact that him and Buffy were actually speaking again. And not just speaking, but civilly speaking without yelling. Why would he not be in a good mood? Taking a moment to think about it, he really wasn't sure how he still knew her so well. All in all perhaps it was because while she may have changed her soul hadn't. He had fallen in love with her and her soul and deep down, that part of her had never changed. Plus....they were soul-mates. No matter how much time apart they spent they always loved each other, always knew each other. "We're soul-mates. I think that's how it always is" he said with a shrug, simply passing it off as a completely normal thing. It wasn't normal in the slightest. Their relationship had never been normal...not in a very long time despite how much they wanted it to be. Recently he'd come to terms with that and had accepted this feat, deciding being abnormal with her was better than normal without her. Although it seemed she was trying to distract him and not tell him what she'd been thinking, he was still waiting for his answer with a very stone look on his face. It wasn't something he was going to drop whether it was important or not. Angel smiled as she blushed at telling him the truth. "Maybe I'll have to keep it up then, since you like it so much" he said, reaching over to put a hand on top of her arm. Even just touching her arm felt nice. The warmth she gave off onto him was like no one else, it was something he'd missed during their time apart. The effect she had on him wasn't ever anything he'd experienced with anyone else, something he cherished. Angel could have sworn in that moment that her heart had slowed. While he usually tried to block out the sound of hers or anyone else's heartbeat, sometimes he just couldn't help it. Luckily it went right back to normal as he finished his story and explained himself. He didn't exactly need to explain anything to her but wanted to, he didn't want her thinking the wrong thing. It just wouldn't be good for either of them if she thought differently. Plus...if she had thought differently, she probably would have assumed Cordelia. Again, not good. At her wanting to know how he'd lost his soul, he wondered if he should even tell her. Although he hadn't actually had sex with Cordelia in reality, the idea of it in his mind was what the Shaman had used to set Angelus free. Angel froze. He couldn't tell her this...it would break her heart and he knew it. For a moment he simply stared dumbfounded off into the distance. Quickly realizing she would probably notice this, he looked back to her and managed to stumble out a sentence. "A shaman" he said, clearly fumbling around. "Wesley...brought a shaman into the basement of the hotel to strip it" he finished, which wasn't really a lie. The Shaman did strip the soul from him, he just hadn't elaborated on how. That wasn't lying and even if she thought it to be lying, it was only to spare her feelings. If she knew the truth...they'd be right back to square one. Or worse, she'd leave him for good. He couldn't have that. While he'd known that Willow was now gay he hadn't ever heard the story on it. In all honesty to him it had always made sense. Just by knowing her as a teenager it seemed to just...flow right, ya know? Not that he cared either way, it didn't bother him in the slightest as long as she was happy. It wasn't his style, but he didn't care whose style it was to be honest. "I don't blame you for worrying...Not that I know, I'll probably join the worrying team." Although he offered a lopsided grin, his voice was actually kind of down and dreary. "That's because deep down...she still loved you. Even though he'd never admit it, to a degree, even Angelus always loved you. It drove him crazy" he said jokingly, though a hint of sad tones were present in his voice. Talking about Angelus was still quite unpleasant for him. At hearing that she still held anger towards Willow, he titled his head. "Anger at her for what? Losing control?" he questioned, not sure if she meant trying to take over the world or the entire situation in general. Whether which it was, it didn't surprise him. It actually made sense that she would still be angry about it. His best guess was she'd never talked to her friend about it either. Clearly they still had issues that needed to be discussed. When the conversation took a lighter tone about her experience with amnesia, he couldn't help but laugh. "I almost wish I could have been there" he told her, grinning the entire time. He should have been there though...he should have never even left Sunnydale. Angel agreed wholeheartedly about the pictures. "After I left...I kept one of you on my desk. And in my apartment...several actually. It was all I had left, still have them downstairs in my suit case" he told her softly. He remembered when Doyle had first seen the picture and her brought her up. It had been too soon for Angel to want to talk about it, so Cordelia had ended up telling the half-demon about their history together. Good memories. Seeing the tears welling in her eyes, it seemed that him leaving being brought up again had quite the effect on her. It did on him as well, he just didn't show it as easily. "I promise" he said, gently stroking her cheek with one of his thumbs as he cupped her face. "I should have never left in the first place....and I never will again" he told her, eyes looking into her meaningfully. It was the truth and every time he remembered leaving, he wished so badly that he could take it back. In the real world unfortunately there weren't any take backs and so he just had to make it better right now, in this moment, and that was exactly what he planned to do.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 1,197 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Busting out laughing at his comment about him thinking the reason for her not being able to lie to him is his face, she couldn't help but roll her eyes. Anyone else she would most likely call a self centered asshole, but clearly that wasn't Angel. She had never heard him joke as much as she had tonight and for some reason it suited him. Sure she didn't want him to all of a sudden turn into Xander by any means (that would be really creepy and unfortunately with all she had seen to out of the realm of possibility) but at the same time, she enjoyed seeing the lighter side of Angel. Sobering up when he called them soul-mates she smiled, giving him an almost dopey look as she conveyed the amount of love she had for him in her eyes. Really though, how many girls wouldn't love to hear the man that they loved calling the two of them soul-mates? Yeah, not a damn one would have been any less dopey than she was so anyone who said otherwise could...she didn't know what but still. "That could be it." She stated with a shrug. "I don't think I've ever met another pair of soul-mates so I really don't have any idea." She told him before a question popped into her head and she figured she might as well ask him.
"Do you ever think about how completely ironic it is that we are soul-mates?" She asked him before continuing on, not giving him a chance to answer (because really, what else was new about that?) "I mean think about it...ignore the whole vampire/vampire slayer thing and just think about it. You were born in the 1700s and in Ireland. I was born in the 1980s and in Los Angeles. With the exception of the way it happened, there was no other way we could have possibly met. If you wouldn't have been turned by Darla we would have both walked around our entire lives without our soul-mates...and to be honest, I can't imagine living in a world where I didn't know you. Sure, being the slayer changed me in ways that I probably won't ever understand. But you changed me too, you helped me grow up...and for that I'll be eternally grateful."
Grinning she nodded. "I think you keeping up the smiling thing would work out well...though it might scare the Sunnydale natives a bit. Get ready for a bunch of questions." She told him with a wink, feeling a lot less embarrassed now that he hadn't teased her about her love of his smile. Granted, she knew realistically that Angel wasn't the teasing sort, especially with something that clearly embarrassed her in the first place, but hey never said that fears were rational. She had always had a fear of making an idiot out of herself and while she had done that on more than one occasion and could usually laugh at herself with the best of them...this was not one of those times.
She knew he wasn't telling the truth...or at least all of it. However for once she wasn't going to pry. She had a feeling that she really really really didn't want to know. She didn't want to ruin all the work they had accomplished in learning to trust one another again and by the sound of it that's exactly what would happen. She had a feeling she already knew but she refused to think on it anymore. Some would say she was living in a perpetual state of denial and she would grin and tell them with a grin that she was rolling out the welcome mat because she was planning on living there forever. Denial was a very nice place to be. “Gotcha.” She stated, her voice more telling than she’d wished. She knew he was lying, he knew she knew he was lying, but she was going to let it go and she had made that clear by not asking any questions. “Those pesky shamans, they can screw with your sense of self that’s for sure.” She stated before dropping the subject entirely.
"You are more than welcome to join the team. We have hats, sweat shirts, pins that label Xander as president and me as vice president. Oh, no, wait, I think Dawn was vice president and I was the janitor. Nope, that was a different club when Dawn was mad at me. I don't know, all I know is that you are more than welcome to join in on the worrying, just don't let on to the fact that you are worrying. Willow doesn't know we all still wig out about it on occasion and I really want to keep it that way. I can't help it though. I saw her even before Tara died and she was losing control. She did a lot of things but the straw that broke the camels back was the fact that she broke Dawn's arm. They were out and apparently Willow made the car drive on its own and it crashed and Dawn broke her arm. Spike and I got there just as they were attacked and luckily we were able to save them but I thought I was going to beat her senseless." She told him with a shrug, having forgotten about that particular incident until a few moments ago.
"I know she still loved me, just like even when I was furious with her I still loved her." She stated with a shrug before going onto the Angelus statement, knowing that while it hurt Angel, they needed to be able to talk about it. "I think I knew that, you know...about Angelus? I always wondered. He had an all access pass to my house for a few weeks before we were able to reverse the invitation...so why didn't he kill me? I mean I'm grateful but why didn't he kill my mom? Why not hurt Willow or Xander or anyone else? He just sorta played with us. And while yes I know that it was his MO, he also wasn't stupid. Realistically the best time to break me, the best time to kill me would have been directly after he turned. I hadn't gotten over the shock of it yet and I was at my most vulnerable. As the months went on, I got stronger...and yet he still continued to play. Then he didn't really try to kill me...he tried to end the world instead? That never made any sense to me until I thought about it. He didn’t want to kill me…at least not all of him did.” She stated, looking at her finger where her claddagh ring once stood. She missed it more than she realized even though it had been years since she had seen it.
Hearing his question she snapped out of her momentary feeling of loss over her ring and turned her attention back to him. "For a lot of things actually. I'm angry at her for turning against me and essentially kicking me out of my own house back almost a year ago. I'm angry at her for trying to end the world and giving me these damn demons to fight in order to kill me and Dawn so I could go down as 'a hero'. However, I'm most angry at her still, to this day, for bringing me back. I shouldn't be here Angel...I died. It was my time. I was ready. And yet here I am, forced to live every day because my best friend was selfish and couldn't get over the fact that I had died." She stated bluntly, not really thinking about the fact that it would hurt Angel to hear that. She had no one else to really talk to about this so she told him, though if she would have thought about it she would have probably kept her mouth shut. "I'm not miserable here or anything, but I was. It wasn't her decision to make on whether I should be brought back or not. Hell even at that time I had outlived most slayers as only a small percentage of us lived past eighteen. However that's something that I'm going to have to deal with...every day of my life. I love my friends Angel, but that doesn't mean I'm not bitter towards what they did."
Glad for the reprieve on heavy talk, at least for the moment, she laughed. "It was definitely funny, though I will admit to still having nightmares of the demon, apparently a 'loan shark' who literally had the head of a shark. He was disturbing." She stated with a shiver.
Her smile was like the sun when she heard that he kept pictures of her. She remembered giving him one picture but didn't know where he got the others. She could have asked him but figured it was best not knowing, besides, she didn't really care either way. She was just glad that he had some memories of her as well. "There's one that I have of us that is honestly one of my most cherished ones. It's of us after everything had happened. After everything with Angelus and you coming back, but it still shows how much we loved each other. It’s us in the snow, right after the first evil tried to convince you to kill yourself and the snow stopped it from happening. We had been walking through town, holding hands and I had made some stupid joke to ease the tension and all of a sudden you spun me around and dipped me before kissing me. The smiles on our faces are…adorable to be honest.” She told him before pulling out her wallet out of her purse and opening it, showing him the picture she was talking about. “Someone at school had apparently been walking by and saw us and quickly snapped the picture. They gave it to me a few days later.” She told him with a smile.
Feeling his hands on her face she looked up at him, needing to see his eyes, to read them as he spoke. Hearing his words she couldn't help it. She stood up quickly before turning her body to face his. Before he could blink she straddled him, but it was not at all in a sexual way. Once she was positioned and simply laid her head on his chest, cuddling into him like a child would but there was nothing childish about it. It was about love, comfort, peace, and the need to be close to the man who meant the world to her. "Thank you." She whispered, knowing that while some would call their position dirty or PDA, it was not about that at all. She just needed to feel him near her, and while she hoped he didn't mind, she had a feeling he didn't.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -Despite the fact that the two of them hadn't ever really laughed all that much together, it felt right strangely enough. It felt good and above all it just felt natural. It was kind of ironic that laughing felt so natural to someone like him who did it so rarely. However it seemed that since getting a soul his entire life had become kind of ironic. Falling in love with the slayer was the biggest example of irony thus far and honestly he wasn't sure if that could be topped or not. Clearly though it wasn't as ironic as he'd originally thought since Spike had fallen for her too. It was slightly annoying, that was the second time he'd gone after Angel's seconds. First Dru and then Buffy, now getting a soul recently as well. Couldn't Spike just get his own damned life? Apparently not since it seemed as if he was still holding a torch for the blonde slayer. A violent torch, but a torch nonetheless.
Even though Spike had tried to do..what he'd tried to do (he couldn't even say the word) to Buffy so long ago, he still needed to pay for it. Angel would be the one to make that happen and Spike knew it. So far the bleached vampire had been able to bind his time but he didn't have much longer before he'd be forced to own up to what he'd done. Vaguely he wondered if Xander or Giles knew, though did't want to ask. Plus it wasn't like he needed help in beating the snot out of Spike.
If he was lucky maybe he'd even get to dust his grand chile. It had been a long time coming anyways and it was clear to everyone that the tension had building. Perhaps he would soon finally get the pleasure of doing him in. Buffy might never forgive him but maybe he'd be okay with that. If he was doing it to protect her honor and to stand up for her, could she really be angry with him? Of course she could, it was Buffy he was talking about. Despite how much it annoyed him, he knew the two were rather close.
Seeing her explode in laughter at his comment, it seemed that his anger towards Spike seemed to disparate for the moment. He was thankful for that too, considering that if it hadn't subsided he may have just stormed off and done it right now. It was always in the back of his mind and sooner or later, he'd get his chance. Nonetheless he couldn't help but smile as he seen her laugh. Her laugh was like music to his ears, a beautiful melody he wished he could put on repeat for the rest of his eternity. Sooner or later the laughing would end though and though he hated to admit it, they'd go back to normal. Unless this was normal for them now? Angel wasn't really sure.
Clearly she agreed in that they were soul-mates, seeing the loving look she provided through her eyes only. It seemed that all they'd ever needed was their eyes, something he hadn't ever had with anyone else and never probably would. Taking a moment to ponder what she'd said, he looked off into the distance and into the empty parking lot behind them. He then noticed that they'd been talking for so long that it was nearly nightfall already, it was amazing how fast the time had seemingly flew by. "I don't think I have either, honestly" he finally told her, not able to think of another couple he'd seen that had truly been soul-mates. In all honesty no one came to mind like him and her did. No one seemed to have what they had, despite how much they probably wanted it. Although he'd gone to answer her question, he wasn't really sure why. Hadn't he learned by now that most of her questions were rhetorical? In fact he had literally been thinking about the very same thing only moments ago. Again it was just even more proof that they were made for each other, mind, body, and soul. As he listened to her he could admit that some of the things she explained, he hadn't ever really thought of. Mainly he just paid attention to the biggest difference; a vampire being in love with the vampire slayer. They had been made to hunt each other and yet the two of them individually had been made to leave each other. So strange. "I know the feeling. Without you...Well, without knowing you I never would have pulled myself out of the sewers and actually made something out of myself." Although it was a bit depressing, it was incredibly true. Before he'd known of the slayer (before they'd even met) he'd been a miserable creature living in the sewers and alley's feeding on rats. Whistler had shown him the slayer and from then on, he went to truly become a champion. Chuckling a bit, he realized that the gang truly would find it strange to see him smile. While that was slightly depressing, he smiled back at her nonetheless. Granted his smiles weren't huge or anything like that. In fact if one didn't know him they would probably think he was mocking them because of how small it truly was. However being that it was Buffy, she knew and understood that was his best attempt at a smile. She liked it and to him, that was all that mattered. At the mention of the shamans again, he only shrugged at her comment about them being pesky. Not because he didn't have anything to add but because truthfully, he didn't mind the subject being dropped. After all it wasn't necessarily neither of them wanted to talk about, despite her voice stating that she wanted to know the truth. For now they'd skip over the details for the sake of their relationship. Although he had tried not to laugh, he couldn't help but chuckle a bit at her ranting of joining the club. "That's some club you got there" he said with a smirk. "Not really a 'pin' kind of guy though" he added, trying to fake a serious face. At the conversation took a darker tone, he nodded his head to her in an understanding way. "At least you did get there in time..." he said, allowing his voice to trail off into nothingness. Yeah, he didn't really want to get into what would have happened if they weren't there. He knew Buffy would be crushed if anything ever happened to Dawn. Neither he or Buffy would let that happen though and apparently, neither would Spike. Fucking Spike. Angelus wasn't exactly his favorite topic (clearly) but they did need to talk about. Plus, he understood where she was coming from. "You're right..he could have never killed you, despite how many times he said he wanted to. If he had truly wanted to, he would have..." he said, though not wanting to go further into it than he had. As she looked down to where her ring had been, he couldn't help but feel guilty that he still hadn't given it to her. Once he'd come back after she had stopped Angelus, he had found it in his old mansion. It had remained with him ever since and he still had both of theirs. Tonight, he would give it back to her. He had to. He wanted to. Just as she'd known it would have, it hurt to know that she didn't want to be here. He knew how it felt to be brought back. While his had been a blessing since he'd been in hell, hers had been a curse. I know" he said simply, for lack of better words. Now that his feelings were a bit hurt, he was back to being his usual monosyllabic self. Maybe it was selfish that her words had hurt him but it wasn't as if he could help it. Even if he wanted to (which he didn't) he couldn't help how he felt. Selfish or not, he was glad she was here with him again. When she'd been gone it had been the worst time of his life. Feeling a wave of warmth flow through him as he seen the picture, he looked up to her with a smile. "Even after all we'd been through..." he said, simply not able to finish his sentence. Instead he gave in to temptations and leaned forward, placing his lips upon hers. It was something he'd been dying to do since the last time they'd stopped kissing. Whenever his lips weren't against hers, they wanted to, despite how bad it truly was. Clearly she had been thinking the same thing as she climbed atop of him, he ceased the kissing and simply held her. For in that moment, that was all he wanted to currently to; hold her until the end of time.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 1,588 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She wasn’t sure why but she could have sworn for a moment while he was deep in thought that she saw a glint of yellow flash in his eyes. It was strange, almost as if for that brief moment it wasn’t Angel staring off into space, but Angelus. She had seen that look on the demon who wore her love’s face many a times, both at her and in the thought of someone else, and while it scared her, it also made her curious. She noted with a brief quirk of her eyebrow that he also clenched his fist and his jaw in that same instance as well, before releasing it when she started speaking again.
She didn’t make a comment on it, refusing to do so. She had a feeling he was thinking some not so nice thoughts and didn’t want to ruin their day by bringing up even more things that could bring them back to their normal level of drama. She couldn’t remember a day that she had enjoyed more than this with him other than their forgotten day and she wanted it to last for as long as possible. They needed this, she needed this…more than she could really explain.
Looking around her she noted that it was dark, something she truly hadn’t noticed until that moment. She wondered if there would be a time when she didn’t notice she was seeing him in the daylight as well, but doubted it. She was actually fairly surprised that he had kept the ring that allowed him to walk in the daylight. She knew he had smashed the Gem of Amarra because he didn’t want it to get into the wrong hands, so she was surprised at the turn of events with this particular ring. Also being the fact that it had been Angelus who had gotten it in the first place, again, it surprised her. She would admit though, it was a nice surprise.
Hearing his statement about not knowing any other soul-mates made a part of her battered heart heal itself. Angel had been around for over two hundred years longer than she had and if he hadn’t ever met someone like the two of them, chances are they didn’t exist. She didn’t know but that knowledge made her feel special. She knew that while being the slayer made her special, made her different, but Angel’s love made her whole…and to know that no one out there shared what they did, made it spectacular. “Usually things that set me apart from others make me feel weirder…like I’m not fully a person…you know? But that…I like that. I like the fact that you and I have something that no one else can touch. That you and I are special…because we love each other so much.” She told him idly, not even really sure that she was speaking out loud. She did that with him, ramble her inner thoughts. It was something that she had always done because she was comfortable with him…there were very few things that she hadn’t told him in either a deliberate speech or a well placed ramble.
The thought of Angel never being in her life gave her the chills. She couldn’t imagine not knowing. She thought about heading to the Bronze that first day and knocking him over in that alley. She tried to imagine what would have happened if he wouldn’t have been there, but she couldn’t. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew that they were destined to meet…maybe not in the way that they did, but…they were made for one another…and no one could touch that. “Did I ever apologize to you for knocking you down in that alley?” She asked with a grin. “And what did you mean by you thought I would be taller with bigger muscles? You had already seen me. You told me that on my eighteenth birthday, that you saw me called. So why didn’t you tell me that back then? Or at least when we got closer. Why did you keep that a secret?” She asked, no malice in her voice or anger in her eyes, just curiosity…yeah yeah yeah, curiosity killed the cat and all that.
Grinning at his comment about not being a pin guy she shrugged. “Yeah, can’t really see you in a baseball hat or a hoodie either. Hmmm…. Couldn’t fit you with a bracelet either as that wouldn’t exactly go with the whole dark and brooding look you have going for you.” She stated, tapping her chin in a mock thinking way. “Couldn’t really get you a t-shirt either as I doubt you’d want to have matching t-shirts with Xander…or me for that matter.” She rambled on. “I guess you’ll just have to be a silent club member. You know, you go to the club meetings and simply listen and give your input, but you’re not expected to go to the football games and cheer everyone on.” She stated before giggling a silent giggle and biting her lip.
“I got there in time but Dawn didn’t talk to me for weeks. She didn’t talk to Willow or I actually.” She told him. “She was mad at Willow for doing it, but she was more mad at me for letting it happen. We all knew that Willow had been slipping. That was the reason her and Tara had broken up, because she was using too much magic. That should have been the first clue…actually the first clue, should have been Oz. Even back in our freshman year Oz was concerned that she was getting too advanced too quickly with magic. When Tara came on scene we were all sort of relieved because Tara had been practicing a lot longer than Willow. However it became increasingly apparent that Willow was much stronger than Tara so we went back to being worried.” She told him before shaking her head. “Sorry, I usually don’t talk about it that much because Willow’s usually around and I don’t want her to know that I still wig out about magic stuff.” She apologized.
Nodding her head once she sighed. “He could have easily killed me, a hundred times over…because I couldn’t kill him. He wore your face, and even though there were horrible things coming from his mouth, in my head I heard you saying them. Even then, I couldn’t kill him. I apologized to many people during that time for not being able to kill him…and yet it didn’t change anything. I remember after the thing with the judge, Giles took me home. I was crying and I apologized, telling him he must be so disappointed in me. He told me he wasn’t and while he couldn’t allow me to feel guilt, but he could give me his support and his respect. I never told him, but that meant more to me than he ever knew.” She told him. “And yet…” She trailed off, wanting to say that she had thrown that respect in Giles’ face with what she had done with Angelus recently, but luckily her brain to mouth filter kicked in before she did and realized quickly exactly who she was talking too. That would definitely be a conversation with either Spike or Willow…definitely not Angel.
Running her hand over his face she looked at him. “I don’t not want to be here with you Angel…Please know that. You and I being here like this, makes it worth it. But back then, what did I have to live for? My friends could handle themselves, Dawn was dealing…and my mom was gone. Really, what did I have to live for other than death? That’s what ran through my head every day after I came back…until that day I saw you in the cemetery. I’m grateful that I’m here because I’m here with you…” She told him honestly.
Feeling his lips on hers she felt her eyes close in content. It wasn’t a passionate kiss, it wasn’t a lustful kiss that curled her toes, it was one of love, love that filled her with a warmth that she really couldn’t even begin to describe. She felt him within her in a way that no one could possibly feel, and yet she did. She could feel his soul almost touching hers in that kiss, his heart beating with hers even though it hadn’t beat in a long time. Feeling him pull away usually filled her with unhappiness and yet she felt completely content. She worried for a moment that he would too and she’d be dealing with the dumb demon that wore his face (and yes, she had reverted to her three year old self by calling him the dumb demon but she really didn’t care in that moment) and yet somehow she knew they were safe. She knew that he was happy, but she also knew that recent experiences had forced him to not be too happy in that respect. She wished she could give him that happiness and he be allowed to enjoy it, but she knew that they would have to take things one step at a time.
Resting her head underneath his chin she sighed in pleasure. For some reason the two of them seemed to fit together, in a way that was odd since he was so big and she was so little, yet they fit together like missing pieces of a puzzle. The spot underneath his chin fit her head perfectly. His arms held her like they were sculpted to do so. It was nice…
No…it was home.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -While he hadn't thought at first that she had noticed, as her eyebrows quirked up at him, he realized that she had in fact noticed. It hadn't been all that difficult to tell if he really thought about it. After all there weren't many things that made him that angry. No matter how hard he tried not to think about it, Spike was always in the back of his mind, peck, peck, pecking at him. God he wished he could just peck the vampires damned eyes out. How would Buffy like him then, with no eyes? She wouldn't! Aha! Perhaps that would be his course of action. Or he could go with the boring and usual stake to the heart. The pecking of the vampire's eyes would probably be much more gratifying though. Perhaps he'd peck first, then stake to finish him off. Regardless of how he did it, it was going to happen. They both knew it and even Spike himself knew it. That was why he hadn't returned to the house surely.
Not wanting to get into it, he simply ignored her eyebrows dancing at him. It wasn't something he wanted to discuss at the moment. Their day had seemingly been perfect. One wrong comment from her about Spike, he'd be forced to flip his wig. Not literally because he actually had quite beautiful hair (in his opinion at least) but still. That also bothered him. Spike always wanted to call him a 'bloody poof' and comment on his hair, but who in the hell was he to talk? He bleached his hair and slicked it back as if he was going for a 'blast of the past' look. Plus, hello, the man painted his nails. Whether they were black or not, painting your nails was the furthest a man could get from manly. End of story.
As her eyes moved from the impending darkness to his ring, his eyes went down to the daylight ring as well. Immediately at seeing the questioning look in her eyes, he decided to answer her unspoken question. She didn't have to say it and he already knew it, it was just how they were together. "I kept it because so many other vampires have them...or at least, that's what the store owner in my memories told...him" he said, a look of distaste coming across his features as he spoke of his other half. "It doesn't make me invincible..it's not one of a kind...well it is, but you know what I mean" Angel told her with a small shrug. It was an advantage to vampires clearly. He wasn't going to allow anyone to have an advantage over him if he didn't have to. Plus this ring didn't go quite as much against his morals like the gem had. It didn't make him invincible to being staked, it simply allowed him to day walk. What was so wrong with that? Well probably a lot, but whatever. Angel shook his head agreeably, his brown eyes trained on her own as she spoke. However the more she began to speak the more they traveled back and forth between her eyes and her lips. Her entire face really, in all of it's beauty. "I do too, and we'll always have that. We've always had that. No matter what" he said, his voice stern as if making sure she knew it wasn't going to change. Deep down he knew that she wouldn't truly have it any other way. Well, not unless she could have both Angel and his other half, that might tempt her. However he knew that he didn't have to tell her she it wouldn't change between them. They both wanted to be together, despite all of the chaos that ensued when they were. Despite how wrong it probably was they would more than likely continue to struggle to be together. Struggling together was better than being heart broken apart, they'd already realized this more than once. Being brought back down memory lane he couldn't help but chuckle. "No, you never did" he told her. "You're still just as spry as you were on that night too." Another small chuckle and a bit of a half smile, they seemed to be doing great tonight. While it was surprising it was definitely welcomed. At her accusations he simply shrugged quickly. "What was I supposed to say? Hey, nice to meet you. I've been stalking you for over a year already, how are you? That's not...alarming, not at all" he told her sarcastically. His half smile widened slightly as he remembered that night. Finally speaking to her had been nerve-wracking, just as presenting her with the necklace. Seeing her wear it during the Harvest did thrill him though, thinking of her as his even before she truly was. Remembering her back in Los Angeles, the smile disappeared from his face and only a sly look remained. His eyes went to hers quickly. "By the way, I hated that Pike guy. What in the hell kind of name is Pike?" It had been a long time since he'd remembered that she'd been with Pike, the man hadn't crossed his mind in a long time. In fact not since the last time he'd seen her in Los Angeles, before she had moved. Clearly by his saying he didn't like him, meant that he kind of did, just like it had for Riley. Maybe. Or, he just didn't like him. Either way it didn't really matter now. He just wanted her to know that she wasn't going to get away with anything from him. Although there wasn't much to say, he couldn't help but laugh as she chuckled about him being a part of her club. Her rambling was adorable, evem if he couldn't always keep up. He nodded his head. "I don't mind, you can tell me about anything. How is Dawn, by the way? Since I now have the scoop on all things Willow" he told her with a tiny smile. Just a small one to comfort her. She truly could talk to him about anything, though she had to already know that by now. "Buffy, you could have...you should have. You have before, and all of the people he killed..." he said, his voice trailing off. Honestly he didn't even want to go there. Not right now at least, it was too soon to be talking about this all. Hearing that she did want to be there with him after all seemed to calm him down once again. As she placed her head underneath his chin and he held her, one of his hands stroked her back softly. Tonight seemed to be having a rather perfect ending for the two.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 1,203 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Groaning internally she could tell that he didn’t want to talk about this and yet for some reason she couldn’t keep her eyes or her mouth shut. Yes, she knew that didn’t make any sense but Angel had always been able to almost read her mind he knew her so well. Just a simple quirk of the eyebrow or a single look at some random item and he seemed to always know what she was thinking, what she wanted to know but wouldn’t ask. Then again, she usually didn’t keep her mouth shut about a lot so it wasn’t that difficult to know what she was thinking…but even the few times that she wanted to hide it…he knew. He always knew.
It could be quite annoying sometimes.
“I’ve heard a couple vampires around here have them. Not sure who but I’ve heard they are a bit common…which annoys me by the way. At least in Sunnydale the citizens have…had a reprieve when the sun came up. It makes finding the vampires a tiny bit harder if they can walk around undetected in the day. However I’m glad you have one…at least if there’s some epic battle and the sun is a factor…it won’t be an issue.” She stated with a shrug, knowing that shockingly enough, she was rambling but didn’t really care. You got used to it after awhile…or at least that’s what she had been told. “Willow found out about them from me and wanted me to ask you if you wanted her to make one for you and one for Kathy…I just never had the opportunity to ask. Well, I’ve still gotta ask you about Kathy but yeah…” She trailed off, realizing how big of an idiot she sounded like but eh, what could she do.
She simply smiled and nodded at his statement about always having what they had now. She knew that, deep down in her heart and to the tips of her soul, she knew that they would never feel the way they did about each other for someone else. However sometimes the brain and her fears weren’t logical, weren’t realistic so while yes she would always worry and fret about whether he would find someone else, while she was alive or long after she was gone (as she refused to believe that he was cease to exist when she died), her heart knew that there would never be another person that was as perfect for him as she was.
And that knowledge filled her with a deep sense of peace. “Well since I never apologized back then I’ll apologize now.” She told him in a serious tone, though inside she was giggling at the very silly conversation. “Angel, I am very sorry that I outsmarted a two hundred and forty one year old vampire by displaying my excellent acrobatic skills and then sent you flying on your back in a dirty alley. I am very sorry.” She stated before breaking out in almost childish laughter, having no idea why she found it so funny but funny she did find it.
Calming down slightly she heard his statement and realized he was right…she would have definitely been more alarmed than she had already been. Hearing that some weirdo (even though he was a very hot weirdo) had been stalking her for quite a long time would have creeped her out and he might not have made it out of that alley… Okay, that wasn’t true. Back then before she actually truly knew exactly how to handle herself he most likely could have wiped the floor with her. Well, maybe not wiped the floor…but in the end he probably would have beat her. Now however, that still remained to be seen.
“Good point. That might have ended a lot differently than our original meeting did.” She stated with a laugh, fingering the cross around her neck as she said it, glad that once again the object of comfort was hanging from its rightful place.
Quirking her head to the side her eyes widened as she thought about Pike for the first time in awhile. She had actually thought about calling him when everything had been going down with the first, but had decided not too. She figured she didn’t need anyone else’s death on her hands and didn’t want to take that chance. Also, and though she’d never admit it out loud, she had a feeling that Pike would be looking at the potentials like a starving man would water and she really didn’t want to have to kick his ass…also didn’t need to be dealing with any love triangles between Pike and two young teenage girls so she had figured it was safer all around to not involve him.
Rolling her eyes she punched him lightly in the arm. “Be nice, he was a great friend to me. Besides, a lot of people could ask that about any of our names. What the hell kind of name is Buffy?” She asked with a laugh. “And why did you hate him? He backed me up, kept me safe and didn’t take my suggestion of eloping in Vegas before dragging me back home…what’s not to like?” She asked, knowing the eloping in Vegas comment would get him going.
“Dawn’s alright. She got kidnapped a bit ago, right before you showed up actually, and was tortured by a slayer who…” She trailed off, not wanting to get into the fact that she had killed someone. She hadn’t told Angel that and didn’t plan on it to be honest, but had a feeling he wasn’t going to let it go. “Anyway we got her back and as soon as she was better I sent her little ass back to Rome where she would be safe. She’s actually been toying with the idea of going through the Watcher’s Council training to become a watcher, but she’s not sure yet as far as I know.” She stated with a smile, hoping that he wouldn’t notice her slight slip.
Leaning into his chest she sighed. “I know that…but I couldn’t. Hell even now, if Angelus had resurfaced and tried to bring back Acathla…I already know what I’d do… The same thing I did with Dawn. I’d force Willow to return your soul…then I’d cut your hand and jump into that portal myself. I’d give my life for anyone I love any day of the week and we both know that.” She stated simply, knowing he wouldn’t like it but refusing to lie to him.

- - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -What she was saying kind of struck him abruptly. It wasn't something that he'd ever thought of...humans no longer being safe in the daylight any longer. It seemed impossible to fight a force that could go undetected. What was it now that separated the vampires from them? Other than being without a soul, they could do everything that Buffy could and more. Of course she was stronger and that was something most of them knew, but who knew how many had already slipped by her undetected. "It definitely makes our job more difficult..." he simply said, his mind in other places. While it hadn't seemed wrong for him to keep the ring before, he was now questioning it. It was unnatural for a vampire to walk in the sunlight. Yet the feeling of it had been so great...to feel the warmth of the rays wash over his skin for the first time in a long time. It had made him feel just a bit normal, even if it shouldn't have. "Am I selfish in keeping mine?" Honestly he shouldn't have even asked. He knew that she would tell him he deserved it, that he should get to keep his even if it went against nature. However he knew deep down that he was truly being selfish in keeping it, no matter if he deserved it or not. If he truly deserved happiness then the Powers would give it to him. He still had much to do on this world before he could have true happiness. He knew it, Buffy knew it, the Powers knew it. Perhaps he should destroy the ring after all. For Katheryn, it was different. She hadn't ever lost her soul nor had she been a menace to this earth as he had been. She was a victim, and she'd never been a killer. She deserved it. Looking up to the slayer, he nodded. "I think she'd like that...she hates being confined to the darkness. But only if Willow can...handle it" he said softly, not wanting anything to set Willow over the edge. He had definitely joined the club of worry-warts, though he still refused to wear the pin! Or a hoodie, or anything of that sorts. Could you imagine him in a hoodie? No, because it was just a ridiculous thought. Angel only smirked at her childish laughter. It had been abrupt but it was definitely adorable. "In my defense, I was nervous" he told her softly. It was the truth, he'd been holding that necklace for days before and hadn't been able to give it to her. It had been nerve wracking that night to know that this would be the first time they really ever met. While he had already felt like he'd known her pretty well, she hadn't known him at all. That was one of the only times in his entire life he had ever felt truly nervous. Thankfully she'd taken the necklace and had even worn it later, making him feel much better as he seen it hanging around her neck. Even a two hundred and forty one year old vampire sometimes feared rejection. Considering the alternate endings they could have had, he pondered what might have happened. She may have attacked him at that point. She may have attempted to even kill him, though he doubted she would have succeeded. She was still knew to the game back then whereas he'd been playing for a very long time. Sometimes he doubted she could kick his ass even today...though, they'd never find out. Hopefully anyways. "Now you see why I didn't tell you? I'm wiser than you think" he told her with a small chuckle. "Buffy is creative. Strange, but creative. Where did your mother come up with that anyways?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow as he was genuinely curious. It hadn't ever occurred to him to where how she'd been named. Now that he thought about it, he'd never heard of another Buffy. Hearing about her wanting to elope with Pike, his eyes widened. "Elope?" he asked, clearly jealous. "You'd known him for a month. Plus...he was kind of a tool" he said, his eyes casting downwards. He had heard the word a long time ago from Gunn, but hadn't ever found the place to use it. This seemed like just the place. "I never would have let that happen anyways" he said triumphantly, puffing out his chest a bit subconsciously. Drawing his eyes back up, he looked to her questioningly. "Who what?..." he asked, drawing her back onto the subject. Clearly there was something she was trying to keep from him. Did she really think she'd get away with not telling him? "A watcher, really? I never would have guessed that. I mean I don't know her well..." he said softly and he paused for a moment. "But I'd like to" he finished, telling her in his own way that he wanted to be the biggest part of her life. He was here for good, through and through. One of his hands moved to stroke her hair softly, running his hands through it comfortingly. "I know. As would I." It was a simple statement but it said so much. They were both heroes, they were perfect for each other in every way. Both of them would give up their lives in a heart beat if they had to, and they both knew it. Neither of them liked it but they knew and understood it.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -Tag: Buffy Anne Summers Word Count: 1,027 Outfit: Click here for Angel's outfit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She desperately wanted to answer Angel but unfortunately clearly fate was not on her side. She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and at first she ignored it. However it vibrated again, and then a third time and she figured it was important if someone was calling her three times. Moving off of Angel's lap she pulled her phone out, noting that it was Mary, one of the slayer's from Rome who had come to get the three potentials that were going back with her. "Sorry, I have to call her back." She told him with a frown before quickly dialing the number that had shown up in three missed calls on her screen.
"Hey...what's going on?" She asked the young girl as soon as she answered the phone. Well, not really the young girl as Mary was only 2 and a half years younger than she was. Okay, these two girls who I'm supposed to be picking up? They aren't going to last until we get to Rome. I took them out for a mini patrol since our flight doesn't leave for a few hours and they are going at it! Like they keep arguing about who is better and stronger and they are going to get themselves or someone else killed. Can you please come and set them straight? Was all she heard from the woman who she actually really enjoyed being around. Mary was one of the first slayers to graduate the slayer school and she and Buffy had gotten along fabulously in Rome.
Wincing as she heard what she was saying she sighed but nodded, realizing after she did it that the woman on the other end couldn't see her nod. "Yeah, I'll be right there. You guys at the cemetery still?" She asked and received an affirmative answer. "Alright, keep them there. I'll be there in ten." She told her before closing her phone and turning her attention back to her...she didn't know what Angel was but he was her...Angel she supposed.
“I gotta go.” She told him regretfully. “However remember what we were talking about and we’ll pick it up when I get home.” She told him, leaning over and kissing his cheek with a ‘smack’ and then grinning. “Love you.” She told him before running to her car, jumping in and speeding out, heading to deal with two bratty potentials who needed to grow up really quick.
Life of a slayer was never boring that was for sure.
