- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She couldn’t believe it. As she stared at the crater that was once her home, tears filled her eyes. She wasn’t sure why she felt the way that she did, but she did. She missed it, something that she never would have thought possible when living there. Sunnydale California, a place that when she moved had been a place that she hated. She despised it when she first came…having hated the fact that she had to leave Los Angeles. However it became home extremely quickly, and now, well, it looked like just a giant hole in the earth.
No one would ever know. The things that had happened, the things that her and her friends have done. No one would ever see the evil that they had battled; the remnants of it anyway, or the good that they had done. Unfortunately that’s not what brought her to the hole in the earth today. Today was the anniversary of her mother’s death…and she had no place to mourn her. It hadn’t hit her at the beginning. Everything had been so up in arms after Sunnydale had been destroyed. It wasn’t until the group had settled into their lives in Rome that she had really realized what it really meant.
Her mother was gone. Not just gone from the living world like she had been, but now there was no place to mourn her. No place to go when she was feeling depressed about it, no place to talk to her. Her mother hadn’t truly felt gone until that realization had came about, and since then she had been bitter about the whole thing. No one remembered what day it was, even Dawn, which surprised her. They didn’t blink an eye when she had made up a story about the seer calling her and telling her that another potential had been found in Missouri. It was a lie, and she hated it, but she didn’t want to tell them where she was really going.
She knew what they would say. Willow would want to come with her, Dawn would become depressed and demand to come with her, and Angel would ask if she was alright. None of these were what she wanted, she simply wanted some alone time with her thoughts. She hated lying to those she loved, but she couldn’t help it. No one around really understood it, though she knew that out of everyone Dawn should. Dawn had grown up in the last years since their mother had died, and as petty as it sounded, the blonde slayer didn’t want her to regress to the adolescent attitude she had right after their mother’s death.
She kicked a rock in front of her, watching as it fell into the hole that used to be her home. She hated being alone here, but no one else really could have come and just stood in silence with her. She looked around, wondering when someone would figure out that a once large town had simply vanished into thin air…or more importantly had collapsed into a huge crater. She wondered how long before the governor of California started petitioning to rebuild a town. She wondered if they’d rename it Sunnydale. She wasn’t even sure if these things were possible, but she had a feeling that anything was possible anymore.
She sat down against the ledge, knowing it wasn’t smart but not caring. No one was stupid enough to be around here. Nothing and no one was around for miles. She could sense vampires out in the far distance but she wasn’t worried. If they wanted to harm her they would have before now. She had been seated in this same spot all day, and now that night had fallen she was still there, simply waiting, for what she didn’t know.
But she had a feeling it would come eventually.

----------------------- ----------------------- Rebekah was feeling bored and Klaus wasn't entertaining her at all with all of the decorating for the new house they had and he was just too busy to be paying attention to her so she needed to think of something to do for fun. She tried compelling some humans and then fed off them but that was no fun today either so what was there to do. She decided it would be great to see Elijah finally but she wanted him to come to her because no doubt by now he would sense that she was in town with Klaus.
She thought for awhile and then remembered of a legend that everyone used to talk about and that was the slayer as they called it of course. Rebekah was curious to know what a slayer was and although she had heard many stories of one still it was nothing to be scared of because a slayer could only kill an ordinary vampire not an original so why not have some fun you know just a little pain nothing to bad actually she wouldn't do anything because she really wasn't in the mood to face a slayer head to head and she also heard if a slayer died the next one would be called and that would just be annoying. They slayer was supposed to be beautiful as well and basically unstoppable in this case well if they had the proper training and all.
The plans she made were final and she ran fast out the door not wasting anytime, god it felt so good to be running again and she didn't have to take a car either because no one would be able to see her in the night and she was in the forest but either way no one would be able to trace her. She ran and jumped from tree to tree just enjoying things and being careless this actually helped get out of the funk she had been in ever since Klaus removed the dagger from her body. She erased the situation from her head because thinking about it would just make her angry but she stopped running and stood still knowing that what she was thinking wouldn't go away and she needed to release her anger from the other day with Klaus saying he stabbed her because she left the family. She got angry and she couldn't help but pull one of the trees out and throw it into the far distance. "You miserable fiend Klaus uuuugh!" She kicked and punched the trees around her but stopped to calm down, damn she was always so short tempered. She started running again not wasting anymore time even though really she could do this all night and day.
Where would a slayer be though? There was so much decision to make and so much pathways to take just to find the stupid "all mighty one" but she really had no clue where to look. Rebekah started going to towns and compelled people to tell her if they knew any slayers and to her luck she did find one and she didn't have to do anything to him except threaten a little for the information he had, his name was Willy or something like that and he said the slayers name was Buffy ha what a stupid name but whatever whoever this Buffy was she was gonna find her. Willy the snitch gave her a few locations to try out and she started off with a location that was completely nothing and it was just a complete waste of her time. "I swear if that snitch is lying to me I will literally cut his throat," she snarled getting impatient with the search. She decided she would try a place called Sunnydale wherever the hell that was and what kind of name was that for a town.
She arrived to a burnt up sign that said Sunnydale on it so what was the catch why was it on the ground? Was it some broke town? She wondered around curious to look at the town well if there was a town, it was just a crater with nothing NOTHING, she was going to get Willy not even get him and kill him but torture him! She was about to run off but then from the far distance she saw a girl and she probably wouldn't have seen her if Rebekah wasn't a vampire and just a boring human, thank god for being a vampire. Who would really stay in this dead end place but it looked like the girl was just visiting because Rebekah saw a car too. If this was the true slayer then Rebekah wouldn't have to keep on looking and she didn't have to kill Willy the sleeze ball.
"This should be quite a show."She ran up to the blond girl quickly and stood in front of her. "So you are the famous slayer the oh so chosen one the one and only, in my opinion I thought the slayer would be much prettier," she crossed her arms and gave a light smirk. Buffy did have a cute look to her but still it would be fun getting under her skin at least. "Oh where are my manners my name is Rebekah,"she kept her focus on Buffy just in case for any moves that the slayer would try to pull on Rebekah. "Enlighten me Buffy please tell me how you do your job and not get killed by any day? You must be pretty bad ass to be able to survive this long," she eased up a little bit but was still watching Buffy's every move just for special reasons. Her and Buffy had a long night ahead of them.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her back to the wide open road, her eyes focused on the deep crater, her mind raced.
One day, while she was 15, her life was changed forever…though at the time she had no idea how much. One day after school, she had been walking down the steps talking about a dance with her quarterback of the football team boyfriend Tyler, when an odd man came up to her and immediately talking about things that made her want to either scream and run away, or have the man committed. He started spouting off things such as 'It's your destiny to find them and hunt them, the vampires.'...she didn't want to believe him but was morbidly fascinated (one of her many flaws she would later come to realize) so she followed him into a cemetery (looking back on that she realized how dangerous it was even if there were no vampires)...and that's when she saw it...the first vampire she had ever seen...the first vampire she had ever staked...the first that would be...of many.
She hated her destiny at the time, because it caused her so many problems just in a short amount of time. Her parents were fighting more and more every day, and lot of those fights stemmed from her own problems. They had fought the night she killed her first vampire, and the lie she told (the first of many in the years to come) about being with Tyler hadn’t been a good enough excuse for either of her parents, though her mother had tried to defend her.
Things went downhill quickly after finding out she was indeed the slayer. 'In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness...she is the slayer'. While her nights used to be spent talking on the phone with her friends or her boyfriend, spent on prom committee, or some other school related function, was now spent sitting in grave yards hunting down undead beings and trying to not get killed in the process. Her home life wasn't going very well either. Her parents had been fighting for some time now but because Buffy's 'extracurricular' activities' had gotten her into trouble a few times, the fights were getting worse.
Everything came to a huge explosion (the first of many in her life) the night of the school dance at her high school, Hemry High. Vampires had decided the dance would be an all you can eat buffet and had attacked the dance. Buffy (with help from her new friend Pike who had started fighting with her because his friend was turned) evacuated the gymnasium where the dance was being held and then set the gym on fire, burning it down to the ground. Luckily the students were safe, but the school wasn't very gracious about the fact that she had burnt down the gym...she was expelled.
After being expelled she tried to ‘retire’ from slaying, but soon found out that was almost impossible…unless you were killed that is, though in her case that didn’t even give her the escape she truly craved all those years. That’s how she ended up here. Ended up in Sunnydale California…which no longer existed.
She felt the hairs of the back of her head raise and she turned around, eyes widening when she saw that it was a blonde girl around her age, maybe a bit younger, and who was clearly a vampire by the way her senses were alerting her to danger near. She heard the woman’s voice and her eyes crinkled a bit. “You know, the only reason that someone makes a comment about someone else’s looks is usually because of the fact that they are jealous of something that they are lacking, so really, thanks for the compliment.” She stated with a fake smile.
“I would introduce myself but it seems you already know my name, I also would say it’s nice to meet you Rebekah, but it clearly isn’t.” She stated, her hands laid at her side in a casual pose but one that could easily become defensive if need be. “As for how I’m stayed alive, why don’t you step up and find out.” She stated, waiting to see if she wanted to fight like most evil that she met, or if she wanted to have a weird conversation as Glory had tended to want to do. She wasn’t sure what it was about her but this girl reminded her of Glory. The strength she could feel emanating off her was something similar, though not as strong…and that clearly worried her.

----------------------- ----------------------- Rebekah was new to the whole scenery and this place was just different it seemed like it held a lot of demons or something. She remembered a town called Sunnydale before but this was of course in the 1800's. It was a cute little town with you know your dirt and couple houses, was this really the same town she was looking at?
"I am NOT lacking anything and I would never be jealous of someone like you, please don't flatter yourself I wouldn't dare compliment you," she uncrossed her arms getting a little angry. Buffy was not prettier than her at all and come on who pulled off the hair more well Buffy was for the moment but Rebekah literally just woke up she only had little time to do her hair which looked good but could definitely be better, Klaus would have to get her a hair stylist seeing as she didn't know the latest trends of hair.
Buffy was clearly testing Rebekah's patience and anger and Rebekah wasn't going to play the game but play it her way which was perfectly fine. "Oh Buffy are you really trying to humor me because it isn't working sadly," she chuckled wanting to play with Buffy so more. This was going to be a fun night and a new change since you know all her life she had been with Klaus and Elijah which got boring very quickly at times. Buffy had sass to her tone and Rebekah liked that someone that could stand up to her but it would just get annoying really fast. "If you're trying to be the bigger bitch then you haven't seen bitch because I made the word."
"Oh really? You want to test the theory?" She gave Buffy a smirk and walked towards her and looked her in the eyes."Are you really ready to fight an original Buffy?" This was just all too fun but Rebekah did want to see the strength of a slayer and how fast they were so it was really Buffy's move but either way Rebekah would come out on top since she really can't die but she wouldn't kill Buffy since she wasn't having a bad day and she didn't want to get the blood on her new clothes well at least for now. If there was a fight about to happen Rebekah was ready and she was in defense mode but not enough to show Buffy.
She could sense that Buffy was strong maybe even strong enough to kill one of the salvatores or one of Klaus' hybrids and that was surprising. After a long stand off Rebekah started circling around Buffy. "So Buffy you're strong right, I want you to show me what you can do," she stopped for a second and pointed to the distance where she could see a couple vampires. "I want you to kill those vampires that are clearly stupid enough to think they can hide," even if they were her kind they were lower than her they were lower than everyone really and that was pretty sad but they would have to do. Rebekah was curious to know the skills Buffy had whether they were bad or good but it was always good to know what a slayer was capable of since this was her first time actually seeing one.
Rebekah was also curious to why Buffy was here in this broken town. "Why are you in this dump there's nothing left but a big hole so what's the point of staying when their is literally nothing left," she tilted her head confused on why Buffy would just look at the crater of nothing. She looked down to see just rocks and dust really so what was so special about this place besides the demons and vampires which would be fun to kill if she was bored but killing humans was always more fun of course.
"You know what I also heard? A slayers blood is to die for and you will never want to go back," she grinned at the blond girl. Maybe she would compel a slayer one day just to have a little taste or just kill them and taste them whichever worked best. She was teasing Buffy wanting to see how Buffy would react to what Rebekah said. "Don't worry I'm not hungry I already ate before I got to meet you," she winked at the slayer. Rebekah didn't really care for rules except Klaus' well only some of his rules and she knew slayers had to kill vampires who were a danger to humans or whatever but Rebekah didn't care and wouldn't stop so really Buffy couldn't do anything to stop her from eating another life. It was pathetic how some vampires drank from blood bags or animal blood they should just go for the natural substance which was the human itself.
Rebekah was satisfied to say the least she wasn't angry but she wasn't in her best mood maybe she was just at a normal state but she didn't feel like punching anything or throwing a tree once again which was a good sign. The only way to make her angry was if Buffy did something stupid or just irritated her was could be easily done just because it was Rebekah. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer rolled her eyes at the other blonde. She was pretty, she would admit that…however she also knew that most of the times these blondes were as dumb as a box of rocks. She wasn’t saying that this girl was, but then again she really didn’t know. Hell knowing her luck she would be smart, pretty, and if she was really lucky, completely crazy. Glory was like that. She was smart for the most part, tricky, old as hell, pretty and she was crazy. She also had that whole ‘hell-god’ thing backing her up which eventually led to the slayer’s death, but whatever. That was definitely not the point at the moment.
She could feel the power emanating off of this girl but she still felt like a vampire. Okay, so deductions were made quickly in her mind and she deduced that she was an extremely old vampire. Older than Angel, older than Darla. She wondered if she was older than the Master…but shook her head. It really didn’t matter to her to be perfectly honest. She knew that this would lead to a fight but unfortunately from the power coming from the original she wasn’t sure she would win it. However she knew that she would go down fighting, just as she always had. Either way, she wanted to hear what the blonde girl said.
Buffy couldn’t help but let out a little laugh when Rebekah commented on making the word bitch. “Actually I do believe that.” She stated with a shrug, not trying to be rude or cocky, just saying what she felt. “Trust me, I’ve met some large bitches over the years but so far none of them with the exception of one has really come out to your standard.” She stated with a grin.
Buffy was surprised when she heard Rebekah ask if she was ready to fight an original. She really had no idea what she met but she had a feeling she wasn’t going to like it. The only thing she could think of was an original vampire which would mean one of the first ones, but she had honestly never given the so called ‘original vampires’ any thought…which was odd. She made a mental note to ask Giles about it when she got back to Richmond, you know, betting on the fact that she would walk away. She thought about going for cocky for a moment before sighing and shaking her head, letting her arms lay limply at her side.
“To be honest…no. It’s not been the best few weeks in my life so I really am not in the mood to fight. I didn’t come here for that. I came here to honor my mother who died a few years ago today.” She stated, knowing the blonde wouldn’t care but feeling like she should at least be honest. She didn’t care if it was anything other day, she would have fought come hell or high water, but today was not the day she wanted to do it on…though it would be ironic to die the same day as her mother…but that was simply a morbid thought…not one she planned to act on.
Buffy felt her senses tingling right before Rebekah said anything about the vampires who were trying to hide. She rolled her eyes but grabbed the stake out of her pocket, gripping it tightly as she stared at the four vampires in front of her. Really, where was there to hide? They were all hidden behind this one small tree that had made it when Spike had blown Sunnydale to bits, and yet four of them were hiding behind said tree. “Okay, before I kill you four, I’d like to ask, why are you here? You did get the memo in Vampire’s Weekly about the Hellmouth being destroyed right?” She asked, her usual sarcastic tone in full play.
Before the vampires had even a moment to ponder what she said she launched herself at them, kicking and punching in a dance that seemed choreographed but it wasn’t, it was simply instinct. She dusted two before they even had time to process that she was there. The third was a bit harder but still easy to dismantle. The fourth one was proving to be a challenge…but still not up to par with a slayer. Quickly she dusted all four vampires and then turned back around to Rebekah, who had apparently asked her something while she was fighting. “I’m sorry, what did you say? Was attempting to rid the world of vampires so was a bit preoccupied.” She stated with a fake innocent smile.

----------------------- ----------------------- From that point Rebekah actually felt sad for Buffy because she knew what it was like to lose a mother and it still broke her up inside knowing that Mikael killed her. She still remembered that day Klaus running up to her and Elijah claiming that their mom is dead and she broke down and cried but she knew they had to run from Mikael even though she wanted to tear his head off. "Well... I hope your mother rest in peace just like mine," she sighed and slumped a little just showing her vulnerable side for a minute. Rebekah always had weakness for family well her own but when it came to her mother it truly saddened her and she knew how Buffy felt and for once she cared. "We don't really understand anything our mothers do for us or really get to know them until they past away."
Buffy ran off to kill those vampires without a thought and wasn't really listening to Rebekah which angered her. Rebekah observed Buffy staking every vampire in a second except the difficult ones but she still came victorious. Rebekah clapped for her because this slayer was something and she was a human so it was different. "Very impressive Buffy but next time listen when I am talking to you," she gave Buffy a fake smile looking at her. Wow she wasn't even breaking a sweat or panting after killing them which was just different. She needed to study slayers more or just ask Klaus since he had been alive with it all.
"You want to know what I was saying before you rudely went off? You don't deserve to know anymore," she furrowed her eyebrows feeling a little bit angry again just how could Buffy leave. It was't okay no matter who the person was unless it was Rebekah herself of course.
If this was your home then what the hell happened to it?"" She was curious to know what happened to this town because it looked like some bomb went off or just something or someone ate it whole. Although Buffy was remembering her mom and all still it was just a dump and couldn't she get a burial somewhere else so then she wouldn't have to come here every time but there was no concern for Rebekah. "Your mother deserves better than this," She looked down the hole and then kicked a rock just to hear it fall and land on the ground. Rebekah was being nice today which was strange but she would go back to being a bitch soon just she felt for Buffy just because Rebekah was in the same situation as her but at least Buffy didn't have a brother that stabbed her literally. Rebekah had it worse no matter what because her family was complicated and always wanted honesty but everyone would just lie either way.
Rebekah did need a few girl friends but the question was would she really be friends with a mere human like Buffy and to think about it she had puns for the vampires. No she wouldn't be friends with the slayer and not because Buffy was just a slayer it was just because Rebekah didn't need any friends and if she had to choose it would be the pathetic vampires that were staked instead of the human that was standing before her. Rebekah wanted to test her patience and see how long she could last talking with Buffy. "You know I've met someone like you but in the end she annoyed me and I ripped her head off," she smirked looking into Buffy's eyes. To be honest Rebekah hadn't met anyone like Buffy she just said it to just say it and see Buffy's reaction because she was kind of getting bored of the conversation.
"So Buffy you are strong I get that but how long have you been a slayer if you've lived in this dead town a few years ago?" She tilted her head curious to know more about the slayer. It was weird to know that there was someone well a human girl that could defeat the vampires. "I swear in the 1920's women were nothing let alone people so how was a slayer brought as a female." It made sense in Rebekah's mind but maybe she was just missing an important piece that was hiding. This would be a long night with the slayer unless they fought then it would be short but considering where the conversation was going it would be interesting to know more about Buffy so then Rebekah could just piss off the slayer but then the slayer could piss her off and she didn't need another Klaus annoying her so who knows what will happen tonight. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She sighed when Rebekah stated that she hoped her mother rested in peace. Buffy herself hoped that as well. As someone who had experienced heaven and knew the peace to be found there she truly hoped and believed that her mother was at peace, but she never would know unfortunately. She sometimes had the unfounded or maybe it was founded, fear that she would never again experience heaven. Even when she truly died her last death, would she even have the opportunity to return to heaven? Would she see her mother again? She really had no idea…but she hoped so.
Buffy nodded her head absently. “My mother was there for me in ways that I truly didn’t understand until she was gone. I thought that my doing my job I was keeping her safe, but in the end she died by something I couldn’t fight. And it tore at me.” She stated, not really sure why she was telling this stranger (and vampire by the way) all these things that were so inherently personal that she hadn’t even spoken to her best friends about them, but it seemed a if this girl…vampire…whatever had gone through the same loss as she had. None of her friends had lost their parents in the way she had, so they really didn’t understand it. She guessed that’s what made it easier to tell this complete stranger.
She didn’t really care what Rebekah had said while she was slaying the vampires but she did answer her question about Sunnydale. “The First Evil…the largest evil anyone has ever known, attacked us. The only way to destroy it was for Spike…a friend of mine…to wear an amulet that literally blew the town up, killing all the vampires in said town as well as destroying the First Evil as far as we know.” She stated. “Unfortunately with that it also destroyed all of our homes, the cemetery where my mother was buried, and took away a lot of places that were special to those around us. Luckily the town had been deserted with the exception of those who were fighting long before we blew it up, so there were no fatalities on that end, but it still didn’t make things any easier.” She stated.
She nodded her head when Rebekah stated that her mother deserved better than this. “You’re right. She does. Which is the reason that I have a memorial headstone placed in Rome right now. Her body may not be there, but that’s where I usually go to remember her. Unfortunately this is closer and I can’t leave the town I’m in for as long as it would take me to go to Rome to remember her. So this was the closest thing I could do.” She stated, hating that even though her mother’s soul was not in her body, that said body was nowhere where she could go to mourn.
The blonde slayer laughed a bit when Rebekah stated that she had met someone like her before and she annoyed her. “Eh, I’ve met several vampires like you and I’ve staked them. So really what’s the difference?” She asked, her stake nowhere near her hand. She didn’t want to fight and wouldn’t fight if she didn’t have to. This was the one day a year she had the opportunity to sit down and just think about things, and she truly wanted to be able to do that. Also she didn’t want to sully her mother’s name with the thought of killing or being killed by this vampire today of all days, and in this spot of all places.
Buffy laughed. “Yeah, the people who made us truly had a weird sense of humor. We’ve been around since a lot longer than the 1920’s. We’ve been around since the first demon walked the earth. What was it that the guardian told me?” She asked, really asking herself before remembering. We kept it hidden from the shadow Men...and they became watchers. And the watchers watched the slayers. But we were watching them. Forged there...it was put to use right here. To kill the last pure demon that walked the earth. The rest were already driven under. And then there were men here, and then there were monks. And then there was a town, and now there was you. The blonde slayer shook her head. “Basically the slayer line started when the first demon walked the earth, and we’ll be around until we kill the last demon.” She shrugged, not really knowing what to say.

----------------------- ----------------------- Rebekah really did feel sympathy for Buffy and just felt as if she could connect to her in a way which was rather weird. "You're the slayer but it isn't like you need to help everyone and I understand that you tried to help your mother but there really is nothing I... I mean you can do to help your family," she bit her tongue realizing she said herself. Rebekah did want a perfect family at one point and really ever since they became vampires it kind of ruined that family bond except for her and Klaus. She could tell what a rough spot Buffy was in because really Rebekah was in the same spot and even if the death of her mother had happened centuries ago, it still felt as if like it just happened yesterday.
Rebekah's family history was a bit complicated and hard to understand and it still confused her to this day. She really did have the perfect family except for Klaus being her half brother and Mikael hating him since it wasn't his child. Things were okay until they were turned into vampires and then their mother dying was the last thing to break Rebekah and put her wall up around her. Her brothers made a pact with her and Elijah broke that pact once he left and basically it was only her and her eldest brother who would back stab her if she did something wrong which pissed her off completely. She knew the only person she had was Klaus and that she would have to stick with him, family was a weird wonderful thing sometimes though.
"Evil this evil that, when aren't you facing evil Buffy? How do you know that you killed this evil because it seems to me that there is still evil in us including other vampires and humans so don't you think it just ran off like a coward," Rebekah would have to see it with her own eyes to see if Buffy actually killed the first evil or if it just vanished because it was too scared to face the slayer. "Never heard of this spike really and I don't really care for the vampires that died here, considering they are all pathetic and desperate," she moved her arms a little to shift in a better position. Surprisingly Buffy and her were kind of the same in a way except Rebekah was a bitch and Buffy was just a sarcastic nice girl. They had both lost their mothers to things they couldn't help and also lost people they respected well in this case one for Rebekah since it was her youngest brother. "They chose to fight so don't blame yourself for something that they chose to do," she didn't understand why she was still being nice to Buffy or at least semi nice but her mood changed from being pissed earlier to being actually sad and a little happy.
At least your mother is somewhere she can be respected,"" she smiled a little bit but didn't want to show Buffy that she was just an ordinary girl that had vulnerable parts in her. In a way she was jealous that Buffy actually got another tomb stone to remember her by, Rebekah should have thought about that earlier. The only thing that she had of her mothers was the pendant and that was all she needed even though she wanted more to remember her by. Rebekah had wondered if there was such a thing of heaven and hell or the afterlife and if there was then she really didn't know where she would be. She knew that she had done wrongs in the past and of course the present but she still was just a broken girl who didn't like being alone at all.
Rebekah was offended actually, other vampires like her no it just didn't happen. "Vampires like me? Don't make me laugh Buffy, as anyone could be like me," she was laughing as well but only lightly which she hadn't done in a long while. Buffy was actually a pretty decent girl and was kind of growing on Rebekah now, she had never had a human friend really so who knew what would happen between the two. Rebekah wasn't hungry and she wasn't in the fighting mood either since she took out her anger on the trees earlier on.
"Sexism of course, not a fan. It was idiotic men that were just too afraid to face the vampires and demons and women were nothing so they used them," sexism had occurred for so long and even in the 20's it happened. Rebekah was surprised to know that women had equal rights in the 21st century, it was just weird but great for women that power finally. "Whoever made that saying up obviously did not know what they were talking about. Looks like you'll be having the job for a long time then," she laughed a little again. The slayer line would end if the last demon was dead, the only way that could happen would be if all life just randomly ended. She had wondered if she was there for when the first demon walked the earth, maybe she was and maybe she wasn't.
"Shall we go down that hole and see what's left in this dead town?" Rebekah was curious to know what the hole had in there besides wrecked houses and cars. She just wanted to know what all the fuss was about and how bad the damage really was since there was pretty much a big hole that was in front of them. There had to be more to it at least. She wanted to know why the first evil came to Sunnydale out of all places, well one reason was Buffy but there had to be more at least. Rebekah just wanted to know the history of Buffy and her job as a slayer for the numerous years she had been one. The only way to find out was to explore the wrecked town and see what things were left there.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She heard the slip in Rebekah’s tone when she stated that there was nothing that she before changing it to her. She tilted her head a bit to the side as she watched the blonde vampire talk. There was something about this girl that she couldn’t place. She wasn’t sure how to feel about her. Sure she was a vampire and a bit of a bitch so really she knew she should hate her…but there was something about her that caused her to almost feel sympathy for her. Also, really, what could Buffy really say about hating vampires? She had fallen in love with one at sixteen, had slept with another one who she cared deeply about…so really she couldn’t say much on the hating vampires front.
“What happened to you?” She asked softly, wondering how much they truly did have in common. She wondered how old this vampire truly was. She knew she stated that she was old, but really how old? She had always wondered that when fighting vampires. She had always been fascinated by the fact that vampires could truly live forever if they didn’t get themselves killed. She could still remember nights sitting at Angel’s apartment, and then later at the mansion, where she had quizzed him over things that he had seen over the years. When this had first started he never wanted to talk about it, hating thinking about what Angelus had done over the years. But as they got closer he would open up to her and it was truly fascinating the things that he had lived through.
She had done the same thing with Spike though he had lived through the same things Angel had being that he was younger. So it truly fascinated her to hear vampires stories, which was a bit morbid being that she was supposed to kill them, but she had always been a weird one. An ‘odd duck’ as Spike had called himself once before. Apparently she kept good company as she could easily be called the same thing.
She looked at Rebekah when she asked how she knew that she really killed it. “If I wouldn’t have killed it it would have shown itself by now. And you’re right, there is still evil around us. However with that being said, there is no more evil being created. Pure evil. There is a difference between vampires, demons, and pure demons. Pure demons are something that only the first evil could create. Regular demons were made by those demons who spawned them. Vampires were once human, simply turned by a vampire. So while yes, there is evil on the earth and there will probably always be evil on the earth, no more pure demons are being made.” She explained, hoping that she was telling it in a way that made sense.
She didn’t really have anything to say about Rebekah not caring about the vampires who died here. She didn’t really care about them either except for Spike, and that had worked out alright so she would simply not comment, knowing whatever she said would sound rude and she really didn’t feel like fighting today. She was glad that this conversation hadn’t gone that way being that she didn’t have the energy for it. Sure she would do it if she had too, one of the pitfalls of being a slayer, it was sort of the job description. However she really hoped she didn’t have too. She was exhausted, both physically and mentally and just really wanted to have a day without fighting. She’d get back to her normal life tomorrow. Just one day was all she asked for. And truly she wouldn’t even get that being that she had already killed a few vampires today. However it still stood, no more fighting today.
She nodded her head at Rebekah’s comment about her mother being respected. It wasn’t the same since her body wasn’t there, but it was as close as she could get without coming to Sunnydale every other day and dealing with her misery there. This depressed her, it made her sad, and she hated it. She hated to think about her mother’s body being literally blown up, really not even blown up, simply gone. The place that their family had resided for years was no more, simply a huge crater in the earth. She had heard talk of it being rebuilt but she prayed it wouldn’t. She didn’t know why but she wasn’t sure if she would want to move back there or if she could handle seeing other people living where her family and friends had once resided.
Buffy laughed when Rebekah commented about sexism. It was the truth though. She had always found it funny that while men were supposed to be these huge big bads and all macho and like, but it was the females who were chosen as the slayers. She had always wondered why that was but had never thought to ask Giles. It had always been there in the back of her mind, a question that she had always wanted to know but then thought it might be better off not knowing. She knew that didn’t really make sense but it was the truth. There were things in life that one wanted to know but after they found out, everything changed. She wasn’t sure why but she had a feeling that was one of these times. “I have proved to several men that I know that they stand no chance against me so they don’t even try.” She stated with a fond smile and a laugh, remembering when she had defended Xander against Larry all those years ago and how he had barely spoken to her until Halloween.
She shrugged and Rebekah’s question, not really caring either way. “Sure, I’ll uhh…try to show you around the town?” She questioned with a laugh before walking over to the side of the crater and starting to climb down. She could probably jump down from ledge to ledge but figured she’d get a bit closer before simply jumping to the bottom. She wasn’t really worried about breaking a bone or anything, but knowing her luck she would break the heel of her shoe and she hadn’t brought any extras with her.

----------------------- ----------------------- Rebekah wasn't sure if she should answer Buffy's question or just ignore it, although Buffy said so much about her past and Rebekah had to return the favor at least. She wasn't going to explain every little detail about her life and she wasn't going to talk about the white oak tree even if it was burnt down. She stared off to the far distance not wanting to look at Buffy. "My mother died a tragic death, her death was my new beginning," she sighed sadly remembering that night. "My father killed her with no regrets and for that I shall hate him until he dies," she said it bitterly feeling the hatred taste in her mouth. Rebekah's father wasn't dead yet and she knew this or else Nik wouldn't be running away still or hiding at least.
She hated her father so much for taking her mother's life away just to become a vampire. She loved being a vampire but she always had wondered what would have happened if she was a human, she would be dead of course considering it was the 21st century now but still would she had been married with kids centuries ago? In a way everything linked up to Klaus, she wasn't blaming him for everything but half of it was his fault. That day Klaus had gone with their youngest brother to watch the humans change into wolves and in the end their youngest brother had died which resulted in the Mikaelson family to turn into vampires. Rebekah wasn't going to go into detail about the death of her brother and how they became to be the originals because that just wasn't going to happen right now.
Rebekah was taking in everything that Buffy was saying to her even though she didn't understand half of it but she nodded and agreed, "Pure demons? Sounds scary," she said it with a sarcastic tone. She had wondered what a pure demon had looked like and if they could destroy everything in their path. She also had wondered if she could be a pure demon but then again she was a human once so she couldn't be one. Pure demons were kind of the originals, making their own minions by turning them into something they aren't. The only difference between the two were the size and that the originals could compel humans, demons, and vampires.
"Men are much dumber now. It's so easy to manipulate their minds," she laughed a little remembering the times when she compelled a man just a few days ago and drank from him. Rebekah loved compelling people it was just so much fun making them do whatever you wished even if it could be boring at some points. Rebekah could have probably compelled Buffy but she just didn't want to because to be honest she was enjoying Buffy's company which was weird but true. Buffy was different from the other people she met over the decades but maybe it was because they went through the same losses, just different ways.
Buffy agreed to show Rebekah around and Rebekah was excited but didn't show it. She saw Buffy climbing down and she was taking forever. Couldn't a slayer just jump down or something? Rebekah didn't want to waste anytime so she jumped while grabbing Buffy and putting her in her arms, she wasn't going to wait all night for her to climb down the hole. She landed with Buffy and put her down. "For a slayer you're pretty slow going down a hole. Depending on my mood by the end of the night we'll see if I choose to carry you back up," she had a bitchy tone to her voice but didn't mean to at all. It was the truth though if Buffy pissed her off and couldn't get her back to a normal mood then Buffy will be climbing back or jumping back alone, that was just how Rebekah was.
The hole was actually pretty deep, it was a no wonder no one ever went down here. Everything was broken and houses were ripped apart. It was a whole town so it did kind of make sense why the hole was so big. "Before we do anything we need to find the cemetery you buried your mother," she looked around at the obliterated place. Even if Buffy's mother's remains were destroyed, at least she could visit there once more just to have some kind of closure maybe. It was a stupid thought but it could possibly work and something is better than nothing.
Rebekah wanted to explore every single spot of this town, it just intrigued her a lot and she didn't care if it would take all night or day to look around the town she just wanted to explore. Looking at this dead town she could tell it had a lot of history that needed to be unraveled. There was just so much to learn and maybe it was because in all her years she had never visited this town or maybe she had but forgot. She knew that this place was where all the demons gathered and vampires so Buffy the slayer had to deal with all of that, which was truly intriguing no matter what anyone said. One human who got to fight demons and vampires, now talk about power for one human. "Shall we get this show on the road?" She wanted to start walking and observing the place.
Buffy lived in this town for how many years? Rebekah knew Buffy had a lot to say about this town and she couldn't wait to hear every little detail about it and what happened at her job as a slayer. Rebekah was just so mesmerized by the whole slayer thing and to be honest she didn't know why. She was jealous though, one girl is chosen to be a slayer from some mighty person and she wasn't even chosen at all which made her angry. She would have been capable of being a slayer like come on look at her well the hr as a human, she wasn't worthless or anything. "I don't get it how do they choose the right person to be a slayer?" She wondered how they chose slayers, was it on looks? Hell Rebekah was hot so that couldn't be it so what was it then? -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her eyes widened when she heard that this vampire’s mother had been murdered by her father. Who could do something that heinous? She wasn’t really sure what Rebekah meant by the fact that her mother’s death was her new beginning but just the phrasing of it made her think horrible things. God did her father kill her mother and then make Rebekah drink from her? She knew that sounded morbid and she would never ask those questions out loud but that’s what it sounded like to her when Rebekah had stated that. God again, she couldn’t even imagine. “I don’t blame you for hating your father. I would hate mine if he had done something that despicable to my mother. Hell my father did nothing but cheat on my mother and I hate him.” She stated, though the last part about her father cheating on her mother was completely random that it actually caught her by surprise. She hadn’t realized she had still harbored that much resentment for her father for what he had done to her mother but apparently she did. Hmm, who knew? She never really gave her father much thought anymore being that he had bailed on her and her sister, even when her mother had died.
She didn’t say a word when Rebekah stated in a sarcastic tone that pure demons sounded scary. She truly had no idea. She thought that she was powerful, and she was. She didn’t really know what an original vampire entailed but had a feeling she didn’t want to anger one. She may be the slayer but she was still human, something that many people that she knew tended to forget. She knew that her friends tended to forget (though it was less now after she had been brought back to life for the second time) that she was indeed still human which meant she couldn’t do everything. However, she knew that if a pure demon like the first evil would come and threaten Rebekah, Rebekah wouldn’t stand a chance. The First Evil she was sure was gone but at the same time she didn’t really know. Rebekah was right; there was still evil running around creating chaos…so there might be a part of the first evil around somewhere. She knew that the Turok-Han were all dead being that when Spike blew up Sunnydale they all had died. However did that mean the First Evil was gone?
She prayed that the First Evil had died, or been blown to bits or whatever it did when it disappeared. However she had a feeling in the back of her mind that it hadn’t. With that said however it wasn’t nearly as big of a threat as it had been. The reason that the First Evil had been able to do it’s bidding that it wanted was because of the Turok-Han as well as Caleb who was acting as a conduit for the First as it wasn’t corporeal. She hadn’t seen any sign of it but she had a feeling it was still somewhere out here. She would never tell anyone that she knew that, as they would all have a meltdown, but it was something that she had thought about. She knew that everyone assumed because Sunnydale had been blown up that it meant that the first was gone, but no, she knew it was out there lurking. She just didn’t think it would attack again…at least not for a long while. Again, she would never mention that to anyone, not even Angel or Willow, but it was definitely something that had been in her mind over the past few months.
Buffy laughed, relived that her thoughts were brought back by Rebekah’s comment about men being dumb. “I don’t know what they were like back when but I agree a lot of men are really insanely stupid now. Though the same could be said for a lot of women as well. Men however, they are really ruled by one thing, their head, and I don’t mean that that lies within their skull if you know what I mean.” She stated with a wink. “As for manipulating them I wouldn’t know, I usually try to avoid it, however it wouldn’t surprise me if it was easy. Really all you have to do is a wear a short skirt and their your servants for life.” She stated with another laugh.
She heard Rebekah’s comment about being slow but didn’t say anything, instead concentrating on getting to a specific point. Once Buffy was on a ledge that was about half way down the crater she deemed it safe enough and went ahead and jumped, making sure she landed on the balls of her feet as to not break her heels. She grinned at Rebekah, not in a cocky way, just in a friendly way. “I just wanted to make sure I didn’t break my heel before I jumped.” She stated with a laugh.
The mood immediately darkened when she realized she was standing where her town had once been. She looked around, shocked to see some of the things that were actually still around just blown to pieces.
It wasn’t at all hard to imagine where everything had been being that there was debris everywhere. She nodded her blonde head at the other blonde’s comment and started heading towards where the cemetery would be. She wasn’t paying attention when she arrived and ended up tripping over a piece of concrete. She looked at the cracked piece of concrete and her eyes widened at what it said. ‘Buffy Summers. Beloved Sister. Devoted Friend. She Saved The World…A Lot.’ It was surreal standing there staring at her own headstone. It hadn’t been something she had ever really considered when she had been brought back. It was odd to think that this had been placed where what should have been her final resting place. She remembered seeing it when she had dug herself out of her grave, but hadn’t really thought about it since.

----------------------- ----------------------- "We can't choose our fathers but at least we can avoid them, I've been avoiding mine for decades." It was true she was still avoiding her father and didn't want to talk to him because she had nothing to say to him to be honest. Rebekah was pretty sure that her father was after Klaus and him only and she didn't really know why but she did have a few theories. Maybe Mikael wanted to kill Nik since Nik wasn't even his own child or maybe he wanted to kill Nik because of how his youngest son died basically from Nik taking him to see the wolves. There were a lot of theories in Rebekah's mind but she never asked Klaus why he was running away from him because she had a feeling that it would just hurt her for some reason.
Rebekah didn't really get why she was sharing everything with Buffy, well sort of everything, she just felt comfortable around her and the two were basically going through the same thing except Buffy didn't have a douchebag of a brother that always wanted his way no matter what. Buffy probably had friends that she could trust and if she had any brothers and sisters then they were probably trusting too so Buffy got the best of everything really but Rebekah didn't know Buffy completely. She wished she had a family that could be trusting but in the end there's always someone that leaves her or stabs her back, people always leave.
Rebekah laughed quietly since she wasn't really used to laughing at all. "Men truly are weak nowadays but women seem a bit stronger than before," she paused in thought. "They don't rely on their ball gowns and don't do whatever their husbands ask of them." The 21st century was actually really different than any other centuries or decades she had seen. Men weren't as dominant as they were before since they thought they were on top of the world, and women they weren't dumb like before but Rebekah just assumed they weren't dumb because they got an education and became independent. "The 21st century is rather odd," she looked up the huge crater seeing the dark sky. She kind of wished that she could have seen the world turn better well evolve more since she has for centuries but Klaus had really made her miss a lot when she was daggered, the world changed so fast over the 90 years.
Rebekah nodded at Buffy's response to not wanting to break her heel, she understood where Buffy was coming from since Rebekah was a shopaholic even if the women hear dressed more openly than before. Rebekah had grown to liking the clothing because they were cute and of course she looked hot in them so she couldn't complain much. There was just so much to do now and still Rebekah was talking to Buffy instead of compelling people or destroying Elena's life. Rebekah needed to get out more although she did wake up just a few days ago really so she couldn't do anything about that to be honest.
It was weird how the night turned out, Rebekah came looking for Buffy to fight her and see how strong she was but then it turned to Rebekah and Buffy just talking about their mother's and dad's which was weird but Rebekah did have to let out how she felt and it felt good. She knew Buffy probably felt the same about venting and just letting out what she had in her mind. The night could still turn though, Rebekah and Buffy could randomly turn into enemies in a second but so far everything was going okay. There was something on her mind though. "If you're a slayer then shouldn't you be fighting me right now, isn't that your duty?" She was pretty curious to know why the slayer was doing nothing to Rebekah a vampire that could try and bite at anytime, obviously she wouldn't but still it's a possibility. She just didn't understand why Buffy didn't start attacking her the moment she stood in front of her. But then there was Rebekah who hadn't done anything either so they were kind of on the same boat.
Rebekah followed Buffy's lead until Buffy tripped over some gravestone. Was she always clumsy? Rebekah looked closely at the gravestone and saw what it said. 'Buffy Anne Summers' and then she looked at what it said at the bottom, this made her kind of jealous. So Buffy did have good friends and good siblings but still what? "Wait... You died?" She titled her head in confusion and furrowed her eyebrows. She knew Buffy wasn't a vampire and she wasn't at all a demon, she was just a regular human that was a slayer so how did she die? None of this was making sense at all. "Please enlighten me with this one Buffy," she crossed her arms waiting impatiently for the answer. She was actually really curious to know how Buffy died and how she came back to life for that matter. Could it be vampire blood? No it couldn't be that because then someone could have gotten the blood in time for her to drink it and heal. Still though wouldn't the body have decomposed still so how could she have been revived.
Buffy must have had many stories to share with her considering she died so there was a lot more to this girl than Rebekah thought. A human who came back to life, Rebekah had never heard of that, if only her mother could have done that. Rebekah was even more intrigued with Buffy now just wanting to know her history. It seemed like Buffy had been through a lot even if she was only alive for a somewhat 20 years since she did look young. Rebekah had seen a lot and had been through many things over the years but she couldn't help but feel bad for Buffy, the girl probably had a lot going on too. This one time Rebekah would be nice but other times she would be a bitch to whoever she felt like bitching too. Buffy was different though so she couldn't really be mean to her well she could have but didn't, at the beginning she was but everything changed after that. It was strange how Rebekah's night started from her being angry and wanted to kill every little thing that was in her to being kind of sad but happy at the same time, was this how people talked? Getting to know each other and then turning into friends later on in life? Rebekah wasn't used to it at all. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer couldn’t help but laugh at the comment about not choosing their fathers. “I completely know what you mean there.” She told her with a laugh. Granted Buffy hadn’t been avoiding hers for decades as Rebekah apparently had, but she would definitely be open to the suggestion. Just thinking of the way that her father had treated not only her, but her mother and her sister made her blood boil. How a father could simply walk away from his family the way hers did she would never know. She had made a vow then and there that she would never abandon her family and had tried desperately to keep that promise as best as she could.
“My father was a jackass.” She stated bluntly. “He left my mother for his secretary…didn’t come when my sister and I called to tell him our mother was sick, didn’t bother showing up for her funeral, and never contacted us even though I was only 21 trying to raise my 14 year old sister. So trust me, I understand how you feel about fathers. If I could have chosen mine, it would have been someone exactly the opposite of my own.” She stated with a glare at the ground, wishing she knew where her father was so she could give him a piece of her mind.
The blonde let out a laugh at Rebekah’s comment about not letting the husbands make all the rules. “God help anyone I marry.” She stated with a grin. “If I ever get married…all I can say is they better be ready for some epic battles because I can tell you this, I do not bend over backwards for anyone. One of my best friend’s is a guy and he’ll tell you that dealing with me on a daily basis is not easy.” She stated, giggling again at the thought of her getting married.
She knew Rebekah’s question was a valid one and she nodded. “Technically I should be fighting you right now. However I’m not your typical slayer. I’ll be more than happy to fight and kill vampires that I see as a threat…but I’m not one to jump in head first to try and take out all vampires. That’s never been what I wanted. One of my best friend’s is a vampire; the love of my existence is a vampire, so I understand that not all areas are black and white. There are shades of gray in every aspect of life, including in vampires. Do I want to fight you? No. I don’t. Realistically I know that you’re a threat being that your older, stronger, and could easily kill me. I pick my battles Rebekah…and this is one I’m choosing to leave alone.” She told her honestly.
She groaned at the question about her dying. “Yes, I died.” She stated, bending down and running her hands over her headstone. Clearly Xander had been in charge of choosing the saying because it clearly stated that she saved the world a lot. She smiled softly at it, knowing that while it was definitely an unorthodox saying, it was clearly the truth. She was actually glad for the odd phrase on her headstone, it meant more to her than some cheesy saying about how she would be missed. She would prefer the truth, not a lie even though she knew her friends would miss her if and when she died again. She sighed as she thought about how to explain her death to someone who hadn’t known about Glory.
“A very long story summarized into a short one would be this. There was a hell god named Glory. She had been exiled from her dimension to ours. In order to go back to her dimension she needed what was called the key. Well a bunch of monks wanted to hide it from her so they gave it form and sent it to me to protect. Basically she got the key away from me in a moment of weakness. She started the ritual before I could get the key back. Being that the key was made from me it was either it or me that had to jump into the large portal that threatened to suck our dimension into theirs. So I jumped into the portal, thus ending my life.” She stated, not giving away the fact that the key was in fact made into her sister. Nor did she get into the fact of how she was brought back to life. She would wait to see if the blonde vampire asked her about them before she gave up any information.

----------------------- ----------------------- "He left your mother for a secretary? Despicable." Rebekah didn't understand how men and women just randomly cheated now because back then cheating was looked down on by all but of course times have changed. "I guess we both are the same in that way. Just different fathers." She still couldn't believe how both fathers were such scums it just baffled her mind how any father could treat their daughter like that especially Buffy's. Rebekah and Buffy were very similar actually, they were both hurting in the same sense, they had both lost their mothers who they truly loved and took for granted. "It feels just like yesterday that she died. People say it gets better but in reality death never gets better," she sighed. Maybe it was her that felt that way because vampires feelings were enhanced but she did feel the same hurt that she did centuries ago.
Rebekah laughed when Buffy was saying that the guy had better prepare to deal with her, they really were one of the same. "Yes, whoever settles with me must be able to handle how stubborn I am or the next thing they'll be waking up too is their arm ripped off." Rebekah was being serious if some guy couldn't handle any of her and was like Klaus in anyway then she would drop him like a fly or simply torture him for being such an ass since that was what she was best at doing. Buffy definitely did have some bitet in her and wasn't really afraid of anything so Rebekah did think about befriending this girl since they were actually getting along pretty well. Things could change drastically though and Rebekah really didn't know what to think of this new friendship that was building, it was odd.
Buffy was being insightful about how she didn't kill certain vampires which actually shocked Rebekah. "I could say the same for myself, I came here to challenge you but the complete opposite happened," she shrugged. One thing that was on her mind was the whole vampire lover thing, Buffy was in love with a vampire? Now that was a story that she would have to share later on if they continued talking but for now Rebekah didn't care to learn about Buffy's vampire lover. "You're very different from what I've heard." Rebekah wasn't the one to read books much but she would ask her brother Elijah to fill her in and when he told her about the slayers they seemed different total opposite of Buffy and maybe that's why she had stayed alive for this long. Anger was always the best way to win a battle just remember to not get blindsided and keep your tactics simple.
Rebekah couldn't believe that Buffy died, it just made no sense to her in her mind. Buffy was definitely human not a demon or angel so how could she be alive again? "I'm a little bit intrigued. How were you Resurrected but what makes me wonder is who this key is and what does it do?" She had wondered what the key looked like, was it just some average key that held one meaning or something more than that? Hopefully Buffy could fill in Rebekah because she was curious to know more about what happened that day. There was more to Buffy's life than Rebekah thought, who know she had such an exciting but miserable life in just 20 years, she had wondered what else happened in her life. "It's rather odd that you would jump in a portal for a key, am I missing something? No one would jump into the portal unless the key holds some significance." It made no sense to Rebekah, she knew that Buffy was a hero and had to do her job but still it didn't make sense that she would sacrifice her life for a key unless it really mattered to her. No matter how big of a hero you are you still wouldn't kill yourself for the sake of the humanity unless there is no second option.
Rebekah walked toward the gravestone and bent down to analyze it more. The words were meaningful and kind of sad. Rebekah had wondered if she died at some point then would someone care enough to do what Buffy's friends and family have done or would she be forgotten and rot like another vampire? Rebekah was kind of jealous that Buffy had such great friends, maybe Rebekah would have some if she wasn't stabbed 90 years ago but she can't undo what had been done. The stone was a bit damaged but none could tell from a human eye, vampires could see every detail of every single thing around them which was one of the good things about being a vampire.
"If your gravestone's here then where's your mothers?" She had still wanted to see Buffy's mother's gravestone and wanted to take it out of hole, it just didn't feel right leaving something that someone loved so much behind. "Shall we move on or we going to stay here and gawk at your memorial," she looked up at the dark sky and white stars feeling a little bit impatient since she wanted to get a lot done tonight and see every part of Sunnydale. This small town just had so much going on in it since there was a slayer in Sunnydale protecting it. Plus the death of Buffy now that was a story to be told and Rebekah just needed to find out how Buffy survived it all mentally even though Rebekah could have survived anything. "I don't understand how a human like you can withstand so much Buffy." Rebekah was being nice today nicer than usual, she wondered how long she would be nice until a wrong word had been said. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer nodded her head to the question, and then agreed with Rebekah’s comment about it being despicable. It was true though. How a man could up and leave not only his wife, but his two children was something she just didn’t understand. Well, technically when it happened it had been one child, but she didn’t dwell on that. It was strange when she returned from heaven she had all her memories, both the modified ones that included Dawn, but also if she thought hard enough she could recall those that didn’t have her younger sister. Those were still a bit foggy, yet she could remember them. She didn’t usually think about them much, only because she preferred to live in the real world that she lived in now where Dawn was here. She had never told anyone that she had all her memories, for fear it would get back to Dawn. She knew her younger sister had always been insecure about the fact that she hadn’t technically existed before a couple years earlier, and this was just something that she didn’t need to know.
Buffy couldn't help but laugh at Rebekah's very blunt and visual comment about ripping someone's arm off. "I'm not sure if I'd rip anyone's arm off, but I would totally punch them in the nose, thus most likely breaking it." She stated randomly, thinking about it. "Then again, if the love of my existence ever pulls his head out of his ass and realizes that he's truly not an evil asshole as he thinks he is, then maybe I would do a bit more damage." She told her, laughing at the thought of what a fight between her and Angel would be if they got back together.
She could imagine it now. Most of their fights turned physical anyway, only because they were two of the only people who could truly take their aggressions out on the other one. If she got mad at Willow she couldn't fight with her, she'd hurt her if not work. If Angel fought with Wesley or anyone besides her, Spike or Faith he would do the same thing, so in some ways it was cathartic for them...in other ways it was just messy.
“Most slayers are different than me.” She stated, then laughed a bit. “My watcher and I have actually had this conversation several times. He wonders if I was dropped on my head repeatedly, though it’s not something he will ever admit out loud, I know he’s had the thought before. However he’s always said that what makes me different than others is the reason I’ve lived so long. I don’t try and kill every single vampire or demon who walks the earth. It’s pointless and a suicide mission for everyone involved. I will protect people, I do hunt vampires and demons, but if I’m overpowered then I get help. I listen to what is told to me and I reflect on it. If a vampire comes at me and tries to hurt me or someone I love, then yes, I will end them. However that doesn’t mean I walk around looking for a fight unless I’m patrolling.” She told her, shrugging her shoulders at the end. “I want to live my life as normally as possible while still doing my job to help people.”
She sighed. She should have known that Rebekah would catch onto the whole key thing. “The key was given form and presented to me in a way that I could not help but protect it…” She stated, not wanting to give the whole thing away but wanting to give her enough to settle her curiosity. “The key was made human, given memories, along with others whose memories were molded to make it seem as if the key had always been around. So up until a few months before everything went down no one knew she hadn’t always been human.” She stated, hoping that would at least curb the curiosity. She was protective of Dawn, and always would be.
She nodded her head at the question about the gravestone, standing back up and heading towards where she near her mother had been buried. While walking she shrugged again at Rebekah’s comment. “I do what I have to do to help those I care about. My friends didn’t deal with my death very well, hence me being alive once more. They couldn’t handle it, nor could my sister though she wasn’t a part of my resuscitation so to speak. It’s easier this way. Not easy, but easier than dying and being brought back again.” She stated, a slightly bitter laugh escaping her lips.
More and more headstones that she recognized crept up on her. She had spent a lot of time within this used to be cemetery and she could probably tell you most names within it, having studied the tombs in her downtime. She came upon one that was actually in perfect condition and luckily it was because the sight of it made her break. ‘Joyce Summers’ was all it took for her to lean down, tracing the name on the marble slab. Looking at it now she remembered she had allowed Giles to choose the wording for it, and for the first time in memory she took it in. ‘Joyce Summers. Beloved Mother, Friend and Mentor. Will Be Missed More Than Words Describe’. It was simple, but perfect in every way.
“My mother.” She stated needlessly.
