- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She was tired and scared; something that had been increasingly familiar feelings to her over the past few weeks. She had been having nightmares for the last week and she couldn't seem to get them out of her head. She wasn’t sure why but they all ended the exact same way. They all ended her watching someone she loved killed in one way or another. All of them also ended up with her waking up in bed screaming, Jeremy or Alaric by her side trying to wake her up. She hadn't told anyone the specifics, only that they were nightmares. She didn't want to tell them what she was dreaming about, for fear of what they would think.
However after having the same type of recurring nightmare over and over again, she needed to see for herself that they weren't true. She had already called Bonnie, Caroline, and Matt to make sure they were alright. Now she was headed towards the Salvatore Boarding House to check to make sure those she was truly the most afraid for were alright as well. Most of her nightmares centered on either one or the other brother dying, usually Stefan but a lot of times Damon. She wasn't sure why either one hurt her so badly, but they did. Stefan was not her boyfriend any longer and Damon never had been, but her heart break at the thought of losing either one of them.
Elena looked at her surroundings and realized that in the time that she had been dwelling on her nightmare she had made it all the way to the old Salvatore Boarding House without even consciously realizing she had done it. That was never a good feeling, to know that you were driving somewhere and couldn’t remember how you got there. Ever since her parent's accident she had tried to make sure her focus was always on the road while driving, and this was one of the few times she had failed in that attempt.
She pulled her car into the driveway, putting it in park and turning it off. She hoped that one of them was around to hopefully ease her fears, though she didn't know which one she'd rather see. Damon, who wouldn't take a break from his constant ramblings of love, or Stefan who wouldn't admit his love at all. Either way she needed to see one of them so she sucked it up and took a hold of the door knocker, pulling it and hearing the echo inside from where she stood on the porch, waiting for one of them to answer.

Down in the cellar, Stefan grabbed a blood bag from the large blue cooler and stuck a catheter in it, using the tube as a straw. He didn’t gulp it down like he normally would. No, he just needed something to curb the hunger for a bit. Feeling the cold blood pass his lips was a bit disgusting when compared with blood from a warm living host, but he didn’t want to be around anyone right now, even if he was just going to eat them. Regardless, Stefan could feel the blood help him think. Or at least, he thought it was helping. Stefan needed to think. Now released from Klaus’ compulsion, he needed to make the original hybrid pay, and to do that, Stefan had to make a plan. For whatever reason, more and more originals were walking around. Rebekah was still out there and Elijah too, as far as Stefan had heard. Who knew if the other siblings had escaped their coffins by now? This just made things much more needlessly difficult. The only leverage Stefan could have over Klaus was his family. It would have been much easier if he could have just taken the coffins themselves. Now Stefan had to get his hands on those daggers. Not only that, but he had to find someone who could use the daggers on the originals. One that could be trusted and one that wouldn’t majorly screw things up. Someone like Damon would have been a great candidate, if the dagger wouldn’t kill him when he used them Suddenly, Stefan was ripped from his schemes as he heard a vehicle approach the boarding house. Within seconds, he was at a window and recognized Elena’s car. ”Really?” Stefan muttered, his hand reaching up to close the curtain on that window. He turned his back to the wall; somewhat hoping that Elena would just go back the other way, though he knew she wouldn’t. Soon, she knocked on the door. It was tempting to just let her stand out there, but Stefan knew that if he didn’t open the door soon, Damon would, if he was around. The only thing that would be more annoying than Elena trying to talk to him would be Damon and Elena together. Stefan swung the door open and simply stared at Elena. Perhaps it was closer to say that he was staring through Elena. His eyes gave her form a onceover before he leaned in the doorway, an eyebrow raised and his mouth drawn into a taught line, ”What are you doing here, Elena?” Stefan asked. His voice had no anger or any concern in it. If anything, it was just a bit irritated and to the point. Stefan wanted to be direct, since it was probably the thing that would make Elena leave. He wanted to finish the logistics of his plans and he wanted Elena to have nothing to do with those plans. The blood bag was still in his hand and he took a little sip of it, waiting for her reply. +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 510 NOTES: Well, hello. :3

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her eyes widened a bit when Stefan answered the door. His cool manner did nothing to help her fears, nor did they cause her anymore fears than she had already had. It was strange to think that this once soothing and caring man could be as cold as he was. She hated the way that he looked at her now. Where eyes once shown with love and happiness as they gazed upon her, now showed a cold hard nonchalance as he gazed upon her. She hated the way he didn’t act as if he cared, when she knew deep down that he did.
She didn’t regret nor did she think she was wrong on what she said to him the day that her world had literally stopped, the day that Klaus had gotten his claws into Stefan so tightly that she was afraid that she would never get him back. She could remember their argument clearly, though what she said stuck out more than ever. He had been trying to scare her, at the same time warning her what was to come. He was telling her that he couldn’t get near her because he would kill her. She had known that, she had been there when Klaus had compelled him that if in twenty minutes Bonnie hadn’t figured out how to save the hybrids that he was to kill her. She knew that, and yet she knew he could fight it. He asked her if she believed that because he loved her. Her exact words to him rung out still to this day. That’s right Stefan, because you love me. You’ll fight because after everything we’ve been through you owe me that.
She wished he could see it the way she did. Wished he could see how she felt. She would admit that it was hard for her to look into his face right now and see the cold detached look and remember the times that he had held her so lovingly in his arms as if she was made of glass but so firmly that he never wanted to let her go. It was hard to hear the cold words come out of his mouth and remember all the times that he had told her he loved her. However that didn’t mean she had given up. As she had said months before…Stefan would never have given up on her and she wouldn’t give up on him.
She almost was disgusted by the way that everyone had turned their backs on Stefan. Okay, she realized that even she had stopped trusting him for the most part as he was under Klaus’ compulsion, but that was the reason for his attitude. What was Damon’s excuse? He did everything that he had done with a smile on his face and his humanity turned on for gods sake and yet everyone always forgave him with no questions asked. Now that Stefan had left (in order to save his brother by the way) and was compelled to turn his humanity off everyone simply wrote him off.
She bit her lip, looking at her former boyfriend. “Sorry if I’m disturbing you.” She stated. “I uh…sort of needed to get out of the house. I hadn’t anticipated you being home, I thought your brother might be or Caroline might be here.” She told him, not really asking him, just simply rambling. Now that she was faced with him she truly had nothing to say.

Stefan noticed the doppelganger’s eyes widen, half expecting a pretty smile to come after that. That was the natural order of her expression of seeing him way back when. But not anymore. Things had changed, and Stefan wasn’t sure if Elena had accepted that or not, or if she would just push and meddle until she got hurt. He felt a weak flicker of something pass through his body but he crushed it and forgot about it instantly. But her face was full of ennui, like she was searching for the old Stefan. It kind of made Stefan pity her. The vampire watched with a blank expression as Elena bit her lip and gave up some excuses about how she thought Damon or Caroline might be here. Hah. That was a laugh. And why exactly wouldn’t he be at his own house? It was actually a nice place to think about how he might be able to kill Klaus if the opportunity ever showed itself. Besides, Klaus had told him to be a good guard dog and wait around Mystic Falls protecting Elena. If that wasn’t the case, Stefan would be half way across the country by now, trying to grab what he could of Klaus’ family. Actually, it was kind of ironic. The worst weakness that Stefan had was the key to Klaus’ goals, meaning that Klaus could only manipulate him with Damon, and thus Stefan was left where he could keep an eye on both of them. Then again, it was hard for him to be around Elena and keep his humanity stuffed down in the recesses of his mind. It was easier since Klaus had forced him to, but sometimes the feeling was more powerful than compulsion. On that night, he had refused to turn his humanity off, even though he was compelled to do obey Klaus’ every word. Such was the power of true love, he supposed. But Stefan wanted the switch off right now. He needed that. Because he wanted to do terrible, terrible things to the people that deserved it, and feelings and compassion would only interfere with his plans. ”You do know that Caroline has her own house?” Stefan replied after a moment of silence. He kept his flat tone, though he raised a questioning eyebrow. Inside, he was chuckling a bit at Elena’s mumbling. It was sort of funny to see her try so hard, ”She hasn’t really been around. I don’t think Salvatores are really her favorite people right now.””So,” He gave another long pause, as if he expected her to fill it with some better reason, but in reality, he was just studying her, trying to discern from her body language or her expression why she hadn’t left him alone by now, ”Did you want to come inside? Wait for Damon?”Stefan pushed himself from the door frame and started back towards the parlor, not looking behind himself to see if Elena would have the confidence to let herself in. He went straight to the liquor, throwing down the blood bag and pouring himself some brandy. If his ex-girlfriend was going to follow him, she was going to talk at him and there was probably nothing more awkward than small talk with your former lover. The blood made him hyper-active and alcohol would numb him. +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 555 NOTES: Uh, just for clarification, we're still at the 'Stefan is compelled to obey' point, yes?

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She stared at him for a moment. She wished she could look away but unfortunately she couldn’t bring herself too. Her memories assaulted her from every angle. The times that she had spent arguing with him, the times she had spent in his arms just relaxing, the times she had spent underneath him as they made love, and the times that she had seen how much he truly loved her. They all came at her in a haze of pain, confusion and undeniable love. She wanted to look away, she wanted to allow herself a bit of composure so he couldn’t see how much his humanity’s absence was affecting her, but she couldn’t draw herself away from his gaze.
She hated the feeling s if she was being xrayed by the cold gaze he shed upon her. She wasn’t sure how she was to deal with this for much longer, but she knew she truly had no choice. She knew most people in her position would have given up a long time ago, but she couldn’t bring herself to do so. She loved Stefan, had loved him since practically the first time she had truly spoken with him and she couldn’t allow herself to give up on him.
She knew that if the situation was reversed he wouldn’t give up on her no matter how the odds were stacked against him. He had tried to come to her rescue in a small way during the sacrifice, knowing that Jenna meant everything to her and had offered to take her place. Granted Klaus didn’t allow him that but still, he had tried. She would do whatever she could in order to see him return to who he really was, even if it killed her in the process. She could do no less, because he would do the same for her.
She brought her attention back to the present, not needing to let herself fall back into memory lane. She would do that when she was alone, in the privacy of her own room, taking her time while reading not only his journals, but hers as well. Yeah, Damon had allowed her to grab his journals while he had been wherever it was that Klaus had dragged him all over the summer, and she was slowly sifting through them. The brunette had no idea if Stefan even realized they were gone, but at the same time she really didn’t care.
She sighed, nodding her head once. "Yes I am aware that Caroline has her own house. Unfortunately she's not there and she's not at Bonnie's or Tyler's." She told him, though wasn't sure why she had. It was just something that was ingrained into her, to tell him the truth. She hadn't ever been good at lying to Stefan and she really didn't want to perfect that particular skill to begin with. "I can't imagine why the Salvatore's aren't her favorite people right now...then again I can't really imagine why they are anyone's favorite people at the moment." She stated sarcastically, trying to mask the hurt she felt just by looking at him.
In that moment she thanked everything that Stefan didn't know that Lexi was back. Thankfully the two hadn't crossed paths yet...though she knew Lexi had a plan for it. Her hand went up to play with her necklace, but dropped when she remembered she no longer had it. She had taken to drinking vervain in her coffee in the morning as well as wearing an anklet with a small heart pendent that opened that had a small bit of vervain inside it. She couldn't be too careful, not with Klaus (and Stefan, though she didn't want to admit it) running around.
She thought about leaving, knowing that it would probably be safer (physically and emotionally) to just leave, but for some reason she was glutton for punishment it seemed and instead followed him inside, closing the door behind her. She watched as he poured himself a drink and instead of waiting for him to make a move she headed towards the couch, sitting down and curling her legs underneath it. “Thank you.” She whispered, before clarifying. “I really didn’t want to go back home.”

”Well, I don’t keep track of her. I keep track of you,” He told her rather flatly, half amused that she couldn’t even attempt to keep anything from him. He sort of wondered why exactly she was looking so earnestly for Caroline in the first place, but it really wasn’t important. With a shrug, he added, ”If she’s not answering her phone and you can’t find her anywhere, she’s probably just having one of her little drama fits. You don’t want to get caught up in one of those anyway.””Damon seems to be making a good impression on the community at least,” Stefan put a little sourly, ”He’s still lurking about all the thousands of Lockwood parties without being staked, isn’t he?” Why on earth did they always want a party or some other stupid event to cover up a council meeting? It just seemed much simpler to keep it under wraps or even make it an exclusive book club if they wanted an innocent face on it. How much money did that woman have anyway, to throw it away on a party every few days? And as he expected, Elena followed him into the parlor, and surprisingly, meekly sat there. He sipped his drink and his brow creased in thought. Perhaps she had finally given up, at least in trying to assault him with how he could change and how he was not his true self. He certainly hoped that was the case. Stefan understood, at least with his mind, that Elena was probably going through a lot of pain. But it was much safer for them to be separated. In the game that Stefan planned to set up between him and Klaus, Elena was a liability, something Klaus could exploit. And the one with the least weaknesses would win. In the long run, perhaps Elena would understand why he was doing this. Not that she actually had much of a choice in the matter. She didn’t know anything about how to pull him out of his Ripper mode, and, luckily for Stefan, the only one who did know was dead. And silence fell again for a bit as Stefan nursed his drink, waiting for Elena to do something or say some preachy thing. But nothing happened. Evidently he was wrong. The only thing more awkward than talking to your ex-girlfriend was staring at her in complete quiet. He wondered if he wandered away if she would follow him like the lost little puppy she kind of looked like right now, or if she was capable of leaving him in peace to think about his plans. Although, that idea sparked another thought in him. ”Do you know anything about Klaus’ siblings being undaggered?” The vampire finally asked. If she was going to bother to be here, Stefan thought he might as well try to see if Elena knew anything. Sometimes information passed through to the person you least expected. And if she had actually seen an original, she did have the leverage of Klaus retaliating against them if she was harmed. He didn’t really expect her to know anything, though. He hadn’t really been too concerned about the specifics what she was doing, but rather just trying to make sure she didn’t go off and get herself killed. ”Oh, and feel free to help yourself,” Stefan gestured to the various bourbons and brandies that were on display. There really wasn’t a reason for him to do so, but perhaps a little alcohol would loosen Elena’s lips and make her spill the real reason she chose to stay. He completely doubted that it was to wait for his brother, ”Although, not too much. Last time you got drunk, we nearly died in a car explosion.”+++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 626 NOTES: Totally up for that. I don't think I'm exceptionally good at playing Ripper Stefan, lol.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She made a face at Stefan's words about not keeping track of Caroline but keeping track of her. "Yeah, because Klaus is forcing you too." She told him, glaring a metaphorical whole in the floor. She hated that Klaus had taken the compassionate man and turned him into his own slave. She hadn’t really ever wondered before how the compulsion worked but the way she saw it was like removing someone’s conscious. She couldn’t be sure if Stefan was still in there or not but if he was she knew that he would most likely be screaming at the injustice of not being able to control what he was doing.
She knew that she was lucky in some respects. Klaus could have easily have compelled Stefan to kill her and there wouldn't have been a damn thing he could do about it...so in all actuality she was lucky that all he was doing was protecting her so to speak. Sure it was annoying as hell to have her ex boyfriend following her around constantly, especially since every time she looked at him she wanted to either slap him, beg him to come home to her, or kiss him senseless…but either way she knew she could have it a lot worse.
She hated to admit it, but Stefan was right about Caroline's drama fits. Granted, she had every right to be upset right now with the whole new love triangle going on between her, Klaus and Tyler...but still...she hated to admit that Stefan was right about anything at the moment. She also knew that the Klaus/Caroline thing was something she had to keep from Stefan at all costs. She had a feeling it wouldn't go over well and the last thing she needed was Stefan trying to get Caroline over to 'Klaus' way of thinking'. She herself wasn’t supposed to know but she had found out from Lexi who heard it from someone. She really had no idea all of what was going on, but she knew enough to make her nervous.
"Damon is doing what he can to keep everyone safe." she stated, realizing the irony of Damon keeping everyone safe where just a year earlier it was Damon terrorizing everyone while Stefan tried to keep as many people as he could safe. "He's still leading the Founder's Council as far as I know...then again he talks more to Ric than me these days so probably better off asking one of them." Her shoulders moving up and down in a shrug, not truly knowing much about the Founder's Council meetings.
She hated the silence that followed her statement but had no idea what to do about it. Talking to Stefan about wanting him to break free of the compulsion hadn’t worked before, and while she hadn’t given up she knew she had to switch tactics. Thank god Lexi was back, but unfortunately she wasn’t ready to fully bring him back so she had told Elena to be patient, not one of the brunette’s best attributes. Her brow furrowed when she heard her ex’s question. “Uh…I know that Kol was undaggered. I’m not quite sure about the others.” She told him honestly. “Kol isn’t my number one fan I’ll tell you that, surprised I lived to tell the tale.” Her furrowed brow turned into a glare when he offered her a drink and then insulted her. “No, we almost got killed in an explosion because Vicky was working with Esther to kill me in order to stop Klaus from making more hybrids…and if you remember correctly I was the one who saved your ass so I suggest you lose the attitude.”

”Got me there,” Stefan admitted to Klaus being the only reason he wasn’t thousands of miles away. Really, staying in Mystic Falls was a blessing and a curse. Yes, he could control certain things like Elena and Damon, as well as keep tabs on Tyler, who was now under Klaus’ control more or less as much as Stefan was. But the bad part was not knowing Klaus’ exact movement, nor that of his siblings. Perhaps he was going to have to find some other kind of weakness after all. He could try working with Esther… but that was a last ditch effort right now. Who knows what the witch might want in return? Balance and all that garbage. ”Wow. Damon, hero of the people,” Stefan rolled his eyes and took a long swig of his drink, knowing full well how absurd the concept was. But he was going to roll with it, ”Just like he always wanted.””Oh, Elena,” The vampire swaggered a bit closer to the couch, a slightly amused by her story of meeting Kol. He was pretty sure that Kol was the violent, annoying one. Not that any of the originals were particularly pleasant in any kind of manner. Stefan smiled, putting on a sweet demeanor, though it was tainted by a hint of sarcasm, and said, ”If you were in danger you should have called me. You are just so precious with all that Hybrid juice in you. God knows what I would do if you got hurt. I mean, if you don’t behave better… well, let’s just say I’m not accountable for what happens to your friends and family when Klaus is around.””Attitude? Me? I was kidding. You don’t need to be so sensitive,” Stefan gave a little scowl that dropped just as fast as it had happened. Though, he continued, the tone he spoke with being one of mock apology, ”But, gee, I guess I did forget that after you and your vampire hunter foster-father drugged me and I barely managed to kick the car hatch open that you dragged me out. Thanks for that.”He let a little more silence stir about in the room, thinking a bit further on what Elena had said about Kol. There was something in there, some kind of logic puzzle or something he could crack that would give him something that he needed, ”Why would Kol leave you alive? I'm pretty sure he isn’t a big fan of Klaus either. Meaning… that he didn’t want to make waves and lead Klaus back to him,” Meaning that Klaus was close. Stefan looked down at his former lover, a cold glint in his eye and his expression taut, considering if he should ask for her confirmation, but it didn’t really matter. There was nothing he could do at this point. It just made him feel a sense of anxiety well up in him that Klaus was near and able to interfere with his plans and exploit him more, potentially wrecking his plans that he didn’t even have yet. Stefan let himself drop down onto the couch, not really caring if it made Elena uncomfortable or not. He didn’t know why he wasn’t walking away. It wasn’t like she wasn’t perfectly safe in his house or that he had anything in particular to say. But he just crossed his leg over his knee and sat there, daring to take one side long glance at Elena before leaning his head back. Perhaps this was something ingrained in him, to unconsciously want to be near her. A type of habit that Klaus’ compulsion was making hard to break. The feelings were buried, but the pattern remained. He hoped to God that Damon would show up soon. Then he could probably get irritated enough to leave. +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 634 NOTES: Thank you :3. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Realistically she knew that having Stefan under Klaus’ control was a bad thing, however a small part of her was thankful for it. She hated the fact that he was forced into being for all intents and purposes her body guard…however she was thankful that he was here at all. Yes it hurt to look at him, yes it hurt to see him doing and behaving in a way that she knew if he had his humanity flipped on he would be ashamed of. However with that being said she knew that she was much safer with him around than if he was gone. She also couldn’t imagine a time where she didn’t know where he was or what he was doing. She had lived through that over the summer and she never wanted to have that happen again. At least during the summer she knew a bit about where he was because of what had happened before he left.
However if he left with his humanity switched off and no intention on coming back, she knew that it would drive her completely insane. She had enough going on without worrying about what the love of her existence was doing some thousands of miles away.
She couldn’t help but allow a snort to leave her when Stefan commented on Damon being the hero. “Oh yes, just what he always wanted.” She replied with a roll of her brown eyes. “You know damn well that he’s doing this so later he can whine about it. You’re brother isn’t someone who does things for any other reason other than to benefit him.” She stated, hating that she was badmouthing Damon but wanting to be completely truthful. She cared about Damon, more than she wanted to admit sometimes, but he was essentially a selfish creature and the things that he did, he did them because he benefitted in some way.
She glared at her ex when he commented on the hybrid juice but didn’t say anything, instead choosing to comment on his statement about calling him. “It’s not like Kol allowed me to call your cell phone and ask for your help right in front of him Stefan. He had me pinned up against a tree at one point so I highly doubt he was going to let me make my one phone call.” She stated, making a parallel to the one phone call someone usually got while being placed under arrest, though it wasn’t intentional.
"You're lucky I still have hope for you Stefan...because if it would have been anyone else...they would have left you there and you know it." She told him, her eyes downcast though her voice fierce. "If it would have been anyone else who didn't love you as much as I do then you would have died...and you couldn't blame anyone but yourself."
She shrugged her shoulders when he started rambling about why Kol didn’t kill her. “I know he has more respect for Elijah than he does Klaus and I know Elijah doesn’t want me dead so that might be a reason as well…though I do know no matter what he says that he does fear Klaus. So who knows. He’s a messed up individual.”

”Oh, c’mon,” Stefan chuckled at Elena’s bashing of his brother. ‘The lady doth protest too much’ came to mind, but Stefan thought he would go along. He wasn’t about to defend Damon. Well, actually, he was about to defend Damon, just with a hell of a lot of derision attached, ”I’m sure when he was attacking all those innocent victims, compelling his newscaster girlfriend, forcing you to become a vampire and snapping your little brother’s neck, that was all for the greater good. That’s why you’re still such good friends, right?”The conversation turned to the Originals, and how Elena couldn’t exactly just have run away from Kol, ”Very funny,” Stefan said in response to Elena not getting her ‘one phone call’. It wasn’t in the normal blunt sarcastic way, but more in a caustic way, almost like he was derisively congratulating her for making a hilarious joke, ”The point is, you should have never allowed yourself in that situation. Let me make myself clear. Klaus has a very bad temper and, while it would be great to have him and Kol at each other’s throats, it’s much easier for him to pick off your little brother or your best friends to send a message.””Wow,” Stefan gave a little scoff and then drained his drink, ”That’s just kind of sickening. Hope? Really? You have no idea what you’re talking about.”In reality, Stefan knew that was probably a half truth. Yes, Elena had brought him down from his blood addiction once, and remarkably quickly. Their little ritual of him feeding on her blood was also something that was making him stronger and less prone to giving in. Given enough time, perhaps it would have worked and broken his dependency. But Stefan’s feelings hadn’t been shut off during that time. It was more like they were in overdrive. Not to mention that the binge that Klaus made him take was way more blood than his previous attack. Right now, he just felt like a bottomless pit—ever consuming and never satiated. And any feelings that rose to the surface of his consciousness he struck down nearly immediately. Did Elena get that? Did she understand how impossible it would be for her to bring him back? Only Lexi would have the amount of ruthlessness it would take to make him feel again, and she was gone. Elena had too much kindness, too much hope. And he would have to push her away before she tried another attempt to reach him again. ”You know, I keep telling you to move on, but you’re still stuck in your freaking fantasy world where you have your boyfriend and your small town high school life,” Stefan set his glass down on a side table and turned towards Elena, cutting the distance between them by half. If he wanted to, Stefan could reach out and touch her easily. But his posture showed that nothing of the sort was going to happen. If she was going to try to pull this sort of crap in his house, he would push her right back, and his proximity was meant as a threat rather than anything else, though he knew she probably would be more upset by his words more, ”But things change, Elena. And it doesn’t matter if you can handle it or not, or if you want to pretend things are okay. I… don’t want you anymore. And there's no more hope. Get over it.”The vampire’s tone became a bit lighter, but still just as hostile and fractured, like he was enunciating every word for a small child to understand, ”Why don’t you get out of my house, call Damon and have him meet you at the Grill. I’m sure he’d be just thrilled to drool all over you without me around.” +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 636 NOTES: D: I will make up for this by being the bestest sweet Stefan ever. Or you can have Lexi torture him a little extra.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The brunette glared at her ex boyfriend. She truly hated it when he made sense. Okay, well when he was his normal self she liked it when he made sense because it was usually when he was agreeing with her that he did, however when he was being his asshole ripper self she truly hated it. She knew it made no sense for her to still be speaking to Damon, let alone trusting him with her friends and families lives. Unfortunately what other choice did she have? Stefan was out being all ‘Team Klaus’ and Caroline wasn’t strong enough to really protect everyone…so that left Damon…and she knew that Stefan knew that. “What Damon has done in the past doesn’t matter, just like when this is all said and done it won’t matter what you have done. Do I hate what both of you have put me and those I love through? Hell yes I do. But that doesn’t mean I won’t forgive either one of us.” She stated venomously, meaning every word that came across her lips.
She knew that Stefan was almost proud of her pun about prison and making her one phone call, though he didn’t let that go on to long before he went on to tell her about how easy it would be for Klaus and or Kol to hurt someone she loved to send a message. She knew that he was right and unfortunately had thought the same thing earlier. “I know, and trust me I’ll be more careful. I didn’t intend to put myself into any situation. I went to Richmond to pick up something because I needed it for school. While I was there I stopped to get some air as it feels a tad claustrophobic in Mystic Falls these days, and I unfortunately ran into Kol. I don’t know if he followed me or if I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but for whatever reason it worked out at least semi okay.” She told him, rubbing her neck as she remembered his strong grip against her.
She watched as Stefan drained his drink before scoffing at her, telling her that having hope was sickening and then moving further to tell her how pathetic she was over having her fantasy Stefan. "You know what Stefan you're right, maybe it is sad and pathetic to care, but I'm not a cold hearted bitch like some are. I care about you, I love you, and I won't give up on you. So you can say anything you want to me, but that's not going to change anything. So you might as well stop trying to push me away because it's not going to work. You would have never given up on me and I won't give up on you." she told him, not afraid of him any longer, simply trying to get him to listen to her. She knew she had only once chance to say this before he threw her out so she did what she had to do.
Standing up and walking over to him slowly, she placed her hands on his face, hoping he wouldn't push her away. "I love you Stefan, and while right now you may not care, or want to feel anything, I know you do. I know you are somewhere deep down in there and I will find you, I promise you that." She told him passionately before standing up, grabbing her purse, her back already to him when he started telling her to leave. She kept her back to him but turned her head to shoot him a look. "We both know that that's not what you want. You may pretend it is, but it's not. Stop fighting your feelings Stefan, because one day it will be too late." she stated before walking out the door and into the night, realizing for the first time in a long time that she felt alright about the confrontation.

”It doesn’t matter?” Stefan tilted his head to the side, half mocking her, but also questioning her. Not only from the standpoint that Damon had certainly done horrible things, but did she even know what he was capable of himself? Could Elena truly forgive him knowing what he had done and what he was planning to do? Stefan didn’t want to say any more on the subject. To argue about it would only prolong her staying. Hearing her say that she would be more careful was… good. It didn’t necessarily put Stefan more at ease, but he took it as a sign that Elena was willing to cooperate to a certain extend. Chastising himself a bit, he reminded that he would have to be much more cautious in making sure the doppelganger was safe. He definitely didn’t want to bring Klaus back to Mystic Falls in a fit of rage. He was too clever when he was angry and focused. Stefan needed the hybrid to be scattered or at least distracted. He then realized that Elena was still talking. He used to think it was really cute how she over explained everything, in comparison to his stoic behavior. Now it was pretty irritating. Although, a little burning feeling rose up in him as he watched her rub her neck, as if Kol had grabbed her there like a dog grabs a ragdoll. Their argument was shorter lived than Stefan assumed, simply because Elena refused to argue. And without an argument, Stefan had nothing to say back. What she said was true enough. It was the surface of a deep, complicated mess inside of his brain. He dreaded for a moment that she would ask if he loved her. He might have not been able to say no. He wouldn’t have said yes, but the very fact he was unsure he could deny it without a pause in front of it was uncomfortable for him. And when she stood and placed her hands on his face, he froze, save a crease in his brow. He was still sitting, so it felt a bit like she was treating him as a child. But her hair slipped from behind her shoulder as she leaned to touch his cheekbones and her familiar scent curled around him and brought back memories that he didn’t want to remember. She said that he was down there somewhere, and he strived to retort that this was the real him, that she had no idea what she was talking about. His lips parted to speak, but he only took a shallow breath in and said nothing. He felt a chill spread across his shoulders as she left him, though he knew he shouldn’t have felt anything at all. He still was frozen to the spot as she told him to stop fighting his feelings, and then slipped back out the door. Stefan stood a bit stiffly, but then began to trek back down to the cellars for another bag of blood. Blood was stronger than any liquor he had in stock. It was the drug of choice when he needed to contain what Elena had asked him to free. Halfway past the door, he stopped and turned back, exiting after Elena just in time to watch her taillights streak red across the driveway. He then strode off towards the new community college campus. He was starving and it would be much more effective to take blood from someone alive. He would make all of the memories and feelings recede, no matter what. +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 593 NOTES: I totally meant to post this before I went on vaca.
