As per her nature, the entire mood of the room lifted when Willow entered. Even Buffy, who had been emotionally charged a moment ago seemed to be placated just by the red-headed witch’s presence. Giles had always been pleased that Buffy could rely on Willow and Xander when the time came for it. And he knew they both probably felt more secure with Giles himself being there. There was a bittersweet sort of feeling the ex-librarian had about that. He wanted to give the little amount of protection that he could, be the adult and take care of them. But he knew that even just now, he had probably allowed Buffy to break down lean on him too much. She had fallen apart and he had picked up the pieces as well as he could. And yet even though Giles was willing to carry the burden, he wondered if his presence made his Slayer slide back into her teenage habits. Or perhaps it was because Giles had been away too long that Buffy’s emotions about this had been accumulating for too long until it was like a floodgate opening. It was hard to tell, and Giles had never had a great concept of how much he should interfere in Buffy’s life. The other reason Giles was struck by a little bit of wistfulness was the fact that they were so happy to see him, but he did have to leave soon. He wouldn’t bother to mention it tonight unless they asked, but running the council and schools in Rome was the priority, unfortunately. Buffy was correct in that there was a lot of work to be done there, and although Giles trusted Xander and Andrew, he would certainly feel more comfortable about what the council was doing once he was behind his desk again. ”Yes, I’m perfectly fine,” Giles reassured Willow. It was sweet of her to check in with him. What was common courtesy in the average world was now like a rare treat for Giles. He couldn’t tell how many phone calls he had where they were simply about taking action against some demon or whatnot. Perhaps if Buffy was feeling better, they could have a normal conversation about what they were doing. Catch up and such. Perhaps the topics wouldn’t be that normal, but the tone and purpose could be. That’s why the watcher also appreciated Willow checking in on the others back in Rome as well, ”Xander is settling into his job very well, actually. He’ll be a fine watcher yet,” Giles paused and a sly look passed his face, ”Don’t tell him I said that though. Andrew is… I-I… I think he’s improving. I still think he’s a bit of a child at times, but he’s… getting there.” As he returned from making the tea and sat, Giles accepted their thanks with a nod, and tried to think of a subject, finally landing on something business-related, ”So, has the training gone well? With so much supernatural activity happening here, I would guess that some of the Potentials might have even done their share of slaying. And I assume your magic has only grown stronger, Willow.”+++ TAGS: Buffy, Willow WORD COUNT: 530 NOTES:... I don't think this post said anything of importance. Sorry.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer yawned. She tried to hide it but there was no way around it. With everything that had gone down recently between her, Kennedy, Willow, Dawn and the rest of her friends, she was exhausted. She desperately needed about a week of uninterrupted sleep but she knew she wasn’t going to get that. She had never really been one to need a lot of sleep, at least not since she had been called and her nightly activities had kept her from getting a decent amount, but sometimes desperate times called for desperate measures. She promised herself randomly that one of these days she was going to go stay a month on a tropical island with no cell phone reception and just relax, sleep, and work on her tan by the ocean. Yeah, it would probably not be until she was 80, but hey a girl could dream.
She leaned her head back on the back of the sofa, listening to Giles and Willow talk and let their voices soothe over her. These were some of her favorite times. Just allowing herself to be while being in the midst of those she cared most about. She knew that Faith would hate these times, hate sitting here in almost silence listening to the soft ramblings of her father figure and her sister in everything but blood. Faith lived for slaying, the fighting, the adrenalin rush, she lived for it.
They were two completely different characters, built from two completely separate molds, yet were kindred in a way that few would understand.
She wasn’t sure why her thoughts drifted to Faith but they drifted back to those in the room with her as quickly as they had drifted away. She heard Willow’s question about Xander and smiled when Giles stated that he was a good watcher. Her giggle let out when he asked them not to tell him though. “I’m totally going to tell him you said he was good at it. It’ll make his head all big. And then I’ll deflate it again by telling him that you hate his hair or something. Don’t worry, it’ll all work out in the end.” She stated with a tired wink. She had to give Giles some sort of trouble…they wouldn’t be them if she didn’t.
She rolled her eyes at the comment about Andrew. “Andrew is and will always be a child. I’m still not sure why he decided to become a watcher but hey whatever floats his boat.” She stated, though it was halfway interrupted by a loud yawn. “Alright, I can’t take it anymore. Giles there is a guest room upstairs all made up for you. It’s like I knew you were coming. Okay, in reality, I just cleaned today so that’s the reason it’s all made up. Third door on your right. Make yourself at home. I’m going to bed.” She stated before standing up, taking her mug into the kitchen and heading towards her room.
And falling asleep before her head even hit the pillow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was good to hear that Xander was doing well it made Willow happy, Willow and Buffy very deeply missed him as well. They have been doing ok working together but sometimes it just wasn’t the same with out him, “Yeah that’s Xander for you always trying to help out and be a leader, I just wish sometimes he would take a break from it all. He pushes himself to work so hard, but we really have no room to talk we do as well. I cant remember the last time me and Buffy took a break from it all. That good to hear about Andrew as well” said Willow. Buffy and her did work a lot, but it was what they had to do to keep the world safe. But at the end of it all they were happy to help people. Xander felt the same way they did with helping people, he fought in some of the toughest battles right beside them and never gave up not once. Poor Xander even lost a eye in mist of it all, but that didn’t keep him down. Willow loves him for that always. Giles had one thing right Willow’s magic had grown very well, she was getting better and better everyday. Willow even had full control of it now, thank god the last thing she needs is to go dark side again. Not something she ever wants to go threw again, she will have the gang kill her first before that happens. All though with Buffy watching her she wont have to worry about that at all. “Yeah Giles my magic has gotten way stronger, but don’t worry I have full control of it now. I have not gone dark or lost it at all. I could have done it with out your help Giles. Thanks so much for always being there and not giving up in me.” Willow said while giving Giles a hug. Willow then looked at the time and knew she might want to get back to bed, she had a busy day tomorrow with Buffy. “well Giles I think I’m going to get to bed I have a busy day ahead of me. But we have a room here for that you will love, it just has you written all over it plenty of books in there. Well goodnight Giles sleep tight.” Willow said while leaning in to give Giles a kiss on the cheek. Willow begin to make her way back up the stairs, but before she was all the way up she turn back looking at Giles. “Giles I’m so happy that you are here with us now, and I know that Buffy is she really needs you right now. Well night.” Word Count- 460 Tagged- Buffy and Giles Outfit- Click to see Willows PJ'sNote- ~~~~~~~~~~~
The notes of chamomile in the tea made Giles’ entire body let go of all its tension. Almost as if it was wine, it had worked its way through his system and relaxed him. Buffy was also probably affected similarly, since she was giving tremendous yawns every other sentence. Giles merely smirked behind his mug when Buffy threatened to tell Xander about Giles’ approval of his progress. It was true that the young man had learned much in a short amount of time, but he was still Xander and could be a tad juvenile or lazy at times. His hair was the least of his problems. Finally, Buffy excused herself, and Giles nodded as she mentioned a room that he could use. It was a pleasant surprise that a room was available. His back would certainly appreciate having a bed and pillow to rest on rather than a couch. And it seemed that Willow was also ready to return to bed, assuring him that she had her magic much more under control and thanking Giles for his support. ”I would never give up on any of you,” The watcher murmured, accepting Wilow’s hug and kiss on the cheek with his normal decorum. It was a relief to hear that Willow had a much healthier relationship with her magic. As long as she didn’t abuse it, she was an amazing, remarkable witch—one of the best ones in centuries. Willow said that Buffy needed him right now, and although he knew it felt true to them, Giles almost wondered if they were underestimating themselves. But as he watched both girls climbed the stairs, he smiled and said, ”Sleep well.”And as soon as they were out of sight, Giles returned the two remaining mugs to the kitchen, and then moved to gather his things and began to retire to his own room, more exhausted than he had let on. These emotional conversations were sometimes more tiring than chasing down any sort of evil. Giles simply hoped that the remainder of the night would end in quiet and soothing rest for all of them. +++ TAGS: Buffy, Willow WORD COUNT: 352 NOTES: Fin~
