Everything was out on the table now, between him and his sister. Her reaction hadn't been bad really, she just seemed like she still wanted to know more. He would tell her anything she wanted to know, just not right now. Even though they were vampires, staying in this house with all of the humans got them used to sleeping during night. Angel rarely ever slept anyways, but he'd tucked Katheryn in to bed. He had sat on the side of her bed, stroking her hair until she'd gone into slumber. It was how he'd always gotten her to sleep in the past, back when they'd both been human. Back when they'd been normal siblings, living in a slightly broken home.
Eventually he watched as her eyes slowly began to grow heavy and after a few more minutes, they closed softly. He leaned down and kissed her forehead before standing up. Bring the covers to blanket her and then tucking the edges in around her, he silently walked out of her room and pulled the door shut behind him. Now he was at the point where he knew he should just go into his room and go to sleep. He knew he shouldn't go upstairs and see Buffy, even though he wanted to.
For now, he went into his room and grabbed a change of clothes. It was the same sweatpants that Buffy had given him a few days earlier. He wasn't sure who had washed the clothes, but it had appeared on his dresser clean. He grabbed the sweatpants and a clean, plain, white t-shirt. Next he went upstairs to use the guest bathroom. He shared an adjoining bathroom with Kathy but he hadn't wanted to wake her up with the noise.
He turned on the shower and let it heat up while he got undressed. When he finally stepped in, it was steaming hot. He left it at such temperature and then quickly lathered his hair and body. After rinsing, he shut it off and stepped back outside. The mirror in the shower was steamy and the room felt like a sauna, even though he hadn't been there long. He tossed his used towel in the hamper and put on the sweatpants and white t-shirt.
Stepping into the hallway, he debated which way to go. He could go upstairs and talk to Buffy to the left, or he could go right and go back downstairs. The chances of him sleeping were pretty low, he found it hard to fall asleep nowadays. Or he could go finish his and Buffy's conversation from earlier. Normally, he would have just gone downstairs. However he knew that if he avoided her and their conversation she'd hunt him down anyways and make him talk.
Running a hand through his still wet hair, he decided he might as well get the conversation over with. It was definitely going to be a hard situation. No matter how badly they both wanted each other, they still had to worry about his soul.
Turning left out of the bathroom he headed up the stairs and down her hallway. He passed by Willow's bedroom and the light was out, so he assumed that she was sleeping. He couldn't blame anyone for sleeping as it was now well past midnight. Reaching her bedroom at the end of the hall he paused before he knocked. For a moment, he thought about chickening out and going back downstairs. He heard her moving around from within though and figured she'd already heard him. There was no going back now, it was too late for that. Pushing on the door softly, it slowly opened as it hadn't been latched all the way. He spotted her in the room, she looked surprised to see him. "Hey" was all he could muster up to say at the moment. [/blockquote] -------------------------------------------- Tag: Buffy Word count: 648 Notes:

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She sighed as she laid down on her bed. She desperately needed to shut her brain down for the night in order to attempt to get a few hours of sleep. Unfortunately with everything that had happened tonight it seemed that sleep was almost a definite impossibility. She prayed that it wasn’t but she knew better. Her brain wouldn’t stop turning and she knew that until it did no sleep would come for her. It was not something that she wanted as she had to work in the morning, but she had learned back in high school how to function on little to no sleep, so it wasn’t something that she was unaccustomed too.
The blonde slayer looked around her room, noting how it had little to no life in it. She hadn’t really gotten the decorating bug like Willow had when she had set up her room, so it was pretty sparsely decorated. Her bed set was simple, white down comforter with light blue sheets and matching pillow cases. She had two pictures on the wall. One was of the slayer school which had gorgeous architecture so it was in black and white and blown up a large size. The other one was a 20 picture collage. The photos were of everyone she cared about.
She had pictures of Willow and Tara, Dawn, Buffy and Kendra, Buffy and Willow, Buffy and Faith, Buffy and Xander, Buffy and Giles, Buffy and Angel and several others. It was something that her and Willow had put together when they got to Rome after finding that Dawn and Xander had put several tubs of pictures in the bus when they weren’t paying attention. She had never been more thankful for her sister and her male best friend than she had been when she found not only the tubs of pictures, but also the tub of stuff that Angel had given her over the years that she had thought were lost forever.
Buffy sighed as she kicked her pink socks off before sitting up, throwing her sweater into the hamper that was seated in front of her closet. She was now only donned in a black tank top and short pink plaid shorts that said something about presents on them. Her cross hung around her neck as it always did and as she laid back down against her pillows she played with the cross, moving it around the chain that hung around her neck. She knew she was wallowing but really, what else could she do?
She wanted to be with him. More than anything she wanted to be with him. But could she really let herself fall again knowing that there was a good chance they were doomed just like they had been the first time? The answer was simple…yes…she could. She knew that she would give him a hundred chances…and no matter how many times he broke her heart…she would still let him back in. Because she loved him. He was everything to her…and had been for years. Even when they were apart from each other, she still loved him. Still thought about him, still breathed him.
Every time he had come into town since they had broken up, her heart mended itself a little bit, and then tore again when he left. The last time they had seen each other, when he came to offer his help against the First Evil. She had wanted nothing more than to beg him to stay, to help her defeat something that she wasn’t sure could be defeated…and yet she had sent him away. She did it to protect him, because she loved him.
The situation was the same as it had always been. It came down to what should she do…versus what she knew she would do.
Her musings were put to a halt when she heard a soft knock on the door. She opened her mouth to invite whoever was knocking in but before she could the door opened slowly and Angel, who was all ready for bed it looked like being that even his hair was wet. He said hi quietly and she smiled softly at him, patting the bed next to her so he could sit or lay if he wanted. “Hi.” She told him, her hand on instinct coming up to mess with the cross around her neck. “What’s up?”

Angel swallowed. The slayer was donned in her pajamas, the same outfit she'd been wearing earlier. However this time she wasn't covered by the long sweater she had been covered by earlier. This time, she was only in her tank top and short shorts. He couldn't help but look at her and notice how good she really looked. Her smile was the same that it had always been, beautiful. It made her seem younger, like when they'd first met. Even though her eyes told a different story of all that she'd been through, her smile had remained the same throughout the years.
What was up? A ton of things were up right now. For instance, his stress level. Being in this house alone with her was stressful. Knowing that she was only floors away from him, when they'd been apart for years, constantly pecked at him. He was constantly wondering if he'd made the right choice in coming here to help her. If he should be around her at all, and how to act around her. Now he had Katheryn to worry about as well. Plus, whatever nasty's were out and about in this town. Usually he was the one who kept his cool. On the exterior, he was still keeping his cool. But inside? Inside his mind was running wild.
Slowly walking in the door, he turned to shut it once he was in the room. "Nothing I...just figured maybe we should talk" he told her calmly. When she patted the bed next to he paused for a moment. Even though it seemed such a normal and obvious thing to do, it wasn't for them. Nothing between the two of them had ever been normal and never would be. Hesitantly, he moved over to take a seat next to her on the bed. He could have laid down next to her, but he felt like that could possibly be dangerous.
The two of them weren't touching, though they were close, and he made sure to keep his distance. He didn't want another episode like earlier in the living room. Well he did, obviously, but knew that couldn't happen. "What are we going to do, Buffy?" he asked, his eyes looking down towards the floor. Right now he just didn't want to look into her eyes. He felt like what he had to say next might hurt her and he didn't want to see the hurt on her face. His eyes darted over to her quickly, before returning back to the floor. "If we can't figure this out, maybe Katheryn and I need to leave.." He didn't want to leave under any circumstances but he knew that if him being here caused problems, he would. With Katheryn of course because now that he had her, he couldn't possibly be without her. All he had wanted to do was help her, help out with things in Richmond. And alright yes, he'd wanted to see her for his own reasons too. But if things couldn't be worked out here, he would make the very difficult decision to leave again.[/blockquote] -------------------------------------------- Tag: Buffy Word count: 535 Notes: Sorry so short!

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She waited as Angel sat down and for a moment she wanted to pout when all he did was sit instead of lying with her. She knew that it was ridiculous being that they rarely ever laid in bed together other than a few times she could remember, but other than that they tended to steer clear of bedrooms in general, but especially the bed itself. She knew that being on a bed with her reminded him of their one night together and the consequences of said night, it reminded her of it too. Didn’t mean she had to like it.
“It seems that we always need to talk.” She replied to him, knowing that it was the truth and hating it. “I hate this Angel.” She told him, sitting up in hopes that it would make him a bit more comfortable. “God everything has changed. In all aspects of my life…of your life…except this stupid curse.” She told him, hating the way she sounded like a petulant child but not knowing any other way to express herself when it came to this particular issue that she had with her life. She hated how out of control it was for her, as she tended to be a bit of a control freak.
“I don’t want you to leave…or for Kathy to leave. We’ll figure this out…we’ll figure something out…but you have to promise me that you’re not going to bolt. I can handle anything Angel. I’ve died twice for gods sake, almost three times if it wouldn’t have been for Willow removing the bullet, but that’s not the point. I’ve seen death, pain, hate, sorrow. I’ve buried people that I cared about and I’ve had to pretend like things that have killed me haven’t bothered me. I can deal with all that, and deal with it a lot. But I can’t deal with you walking away again. I won’t.” She told him her eyes trying to catch his but he refused to look at her.
She leaned over and grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at her. “Angel, I love you. That’s never changed. You left me to give me a normal life. Look around you. I’ve never had a normal life. Ever. Hell, even before I was the slayer, my life wasn’t normal. It wasn’t as insane as it is now, but it wasn’t normal. You leaving, did nothing. Other than hurt me. Yes, I grew up. But I would have done that with you around also.” She told him, her eyes begging him to understand what she was saying.
“I know that you’re scared. I’m scared too. I don’t want to lose you…whether it’s you leaving or your soul. I don’t want to think about that happening…but if it does…we’ll deal. We can deal with anything as long as we’re together. We’ve always dealt with things as a team…nothing could ever beat us as a team. It’s just now up to you whether you want to instate that team or if you want to let go. If you really don’t want to stay, I wont force you. But if you walk away…then stay away. Because I can’t keep saying hello to you and then saying goodbye. I love you too much.” She told him, praying he would tell her that he loved her and wanted her…because if not…her heart would break once more.

The disappointment on his ex-lover's face of him not laying next to her was obvious, though she did try to hide it. He waited before speaking as she shuffled to sit up next to him. It hadn't been something he'd done to purposely hurt her, he just didn't want to be in that position. Even though technically they'd only had one incident in a bed, it still reminded him of a bad time.
There were good memories too, though she didn't remember them. Memories of their forgotten day together when he'd turned into a human. He had asked the powers that be to take the day away from her memory. Being human meant he couldn't help people like he was used to. Plus, it meant she'd more or less have to watch out for him and protect him. It would have ended up getting one if not both of them killed. That day and that memory was something he would always cherish. They'd actually been able to be together, to fully be together. To completely lose themselves in each other and give in to all of their temptations. It had meant that one day they would have even been able to have a family. Now, once again, that was something he could never do for her.
They did always need to talk and he nodded noticeably in an agreeing manor. It was a small nod, just enough to let her knew that he knew it was true. He hated this as well but it was how they had to be. Hell, they'd always been this way with each other and probably always would be. "I wish it didn't have to be this way..that I wasn't burdened by the curse. That we wouldn't have to be burdened by it, but we do." As he spoke his words came out a bit harsher than he would have liked but he couldn't help it. It wasn't easy on him to know that his past mistakes kept them apart. He knew how it felt to be apart from her, it killed him inside and he knew it killed her too. To know that it was because of something he'd done made him feel terrible.
Her words hit him like a brick wall. It made him remember the night that he'd found her with Xander, drowned in a puddle and having been drank from by the Master. He remembered the way his stomach immediately dropped and he felt himself grow dizzy. So desperately he'd wanted to help her that night, to be the one to save her. Having to watch Xander be the one to bring her back had hurt him, though he was glad Xander had been there. If he hadn't, she wouldn't have survived. The second time she died he wasn't there and that killed him as well. She should have called, asked for his help, he would have come in a heartbeat. After her death he'd gone into a deep depression. In fact, he'd gone to a monastery for several months just to be able to deal with it. Even then, he hadn't seen a point in continuing on fighting the good fight knowing she was no longer there.
Before he was able to even respond, her hand was turning his face to force their eyes together. He had been trying to avoid eye contact and she knew it. Angel wasn't one to give long speeches so when she went on, he didn't stop her. He didn't interject with any of his own words but instead, only listened to hers. Her eyes were pleading with him and when he heard her tell him that she loved him, he felt his eyes softening as well.
When she was finally done, one of her hands reached up to push her hair away from her face. Tucking it behind one of her ears, he then moved to pull her hand off of his chin. He leaned in and planted one soft kiss on to her lips. Nothing overly passionate, just sweet and..intimate. When he pulled away, one of his hands reached up to rest on her cheek. "I won't leave if you don't want me to, Buffy. You know I love you. I always have, and always will. Our lives may have changed but that's one thing that hasn't and never will. I won't leave, I promise." Basically, he was telling her that he did want to be with her, without actually saying it. He wasn't usually that great with words when it came to things like that. However, he had a feeling that between this and his kiss, she would understand. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She knew that she should have treaded carefully when it came to spilling her emotions to Angel but she couldn’t. She had to let him know how she felt. She knew Angel well enough to know that if left up to him they would hem and haw around each other for weeks, months, hell maybe years. Angel wasn’t one to express himself. He wasn’t like some men who refused to say ‘I love you’ or anything along those lines but he was quiet, broody, in his own head, and tended to think and act more than he spoke. She didn’t mind it, but it did make having heartfelt conversations a bit difficult sometimes.
Either way she loved the man seated next to her. He had always thought that she should love someone else instead of him because he thought that he was a monster. She had always disagreed with him about this. She didn’t see him as a monster, but as a man who had a pure heart and soul. Sure the monster that lived inside him had done some terrible things, some of which he had done to her…but he battled said monster every day in order to live a life that he could be proud of…that she could be proud of. Not many people, vampire or human would have the strength to do what he did every day and not let it eat them alive, but he did it and he seemed to love to do it. She had always been proud of him, and every day pride filled her even more.
She sat and waited for him to respond, and for a brief moment wondered if this was the right time to tell him that she had indeed not lost their memories of their beautiful day together. She wanted him to know so he didn’t have to carry that burden alone anymore, but wasn’t sure if this was the right time. She knew he would feel immensely guilty (not that she was sure he didn’t already, hell, the man felt guilty if he spilled a bowl of cereal, not that he ate cereal but the implication was still there) that she remembered their day but in all honestly he had no reason to. He could feel guilty for taking it away, she wouldn’t try to stop him for that one. However the Oracles did what they said they would.
The oracles took her memories away. She hadn’t remembered anything until Willow had brought her back from heaven. While in heaven she had been given all her memories back. This included the forgotten day and her memories of the time before Dawn came into her life. She had double of some memories…some of which had Dawn in them and then the real ones that didn’t include Dawn. She had never spoken with anyone about that knowing that it would somehow get back to her sister that she had memories that didn’t include her and she knew that would bother her…so she kept it to herself.
She heard Angel’s velvety voice state that he wished it didn’t have to be this way. “I know Angel, I know. But you make it to be a bigger deal than it is. This was never about sex Angel. You freaked out because we couldn’t have sex…I never once begged you to do anything that you weren’t comfortable with…that could endanger your soul. I’m not going to throw around the blame game because we broke up several years ago and to bring things up now would be beating a dead horse with a stick. However, with that said, we were doing fine before you left…it was difficult but we’ve both grown up Angel. I’m not a teenager anymore with raging hormones. We can control ourselves…and Willow is more than willing to help find a way to help us.” She told him, praying that she was getting through to him. Unfortunately like her, Angel was one of the most stubborn people she knew so she was well aware of the fact that this would take time and a ridiculous amount of talking. However she also knew that he was worth it. Their relationship was worth it.
She smiled as she felt his hand tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. He wasn’t one for loud declarations of love, that just wasn’t him. However the little things like that, or taking her hair while walking in a cemetery, that spoke to her louder than any greeting card ever would. She closed her eyes as she felt his soft lips press a soft kiss against hers. It wasn’t the passionate embrace they had shared downstairs. No, this was almost better. It was loving, intimate, them. She leaned her head into his hand when he caressed her cheek, her eyes opening slowly as he started speaking.
He told her that he wouldn’t leave her and that he loved her. The blonde’s eyes welled up hearing those words. “I actually use to wonder if you still loved me.” She admitted. “I don’t want you to leave Angel…I never wanted that.” She told him, her eyes falling to her lap. “Please don’t leave me again.” She whispered, hating the feeling of feeling weak, but knowing if there was one person in the world that she could let herself be weak with, it was Angel.

He had made it a bigger deal than it was? It was true that it had never been about sex. This, he knew and always had. But he wasn't making it a bigger deal than it was because it was a big deal. Not just the sex part, but everything else that he couldn't give her too. They couldn't have a normal date in the park. Realistically they couldn't really get married. Even if they did, it'd have to be doctored up and it'd also have to be at nighttime. He couldn't make love to her on their honeymoon. He couldn't give her the children she deserved, even if she didn't think she wanted them now.
And lastly, eventually, she would die while he stayed young forever. How was he supposed to be with her and just watch as she aged, possibly got sick, and died? He couldn't see himself being able to just sit back and watch it happen before his eyes. She deserved a family. A real family, not him and his vampire sister.
He nodded in disagreement at her first statement, about it being about sex. "I never made it just about sex, Buffy. It's about everything. Everything that I can't give you." As they had earlier, his words came out kind of harsh. Right now he was beginning to grow a bit frustrated with her. She was making it seem like all he cared about was sex. Honestly, what the hell? Did she really think that low of him? He had done it for a lot more reasons than that.
The terms of his curse wasn't just that he couldn't have sex in general. He wasn't sure if she understood that or not. It was sex with Buffy, specifically. She was the only one who had ever given him true happiness. Even though it may hurt her feelings, he felt like this needed clarification. "Do you think I can't have sex Buffy? That I haven't since we broke up? I have. It's not about sex. It's about you. Your the only person that has ever given me that kind of happiness, so don't you dare say that I made it all about sex." As he'd spoken these words he'd stood up angrily, pacing around the room as he spoke. It was frustrating to hear her even say something like this. He'd needed to explain, even if she didn't like to hear about it. The vampire kind of felt like an ass. Here he'd just kissed her, now he'd abruptly gotten off the bed after declaring that he'd slept with other women. Honestly he hadn't really thought that one out. What she didn't know, probably wouldn't hurt her. But on the other hand, did they really want to start a new relationship with secrets between them? And not only that but now, she had a bit of clarification on his curse. It was specifically her that made him that happy. No one else had ever made him feel like that and never could. In a way, he hoped she'd actually be kind of happy to hear that part at least. That she was the only one he'd ever felt like that about. After a moment of pacing back and forth around the room, he returned to stand in front of her. Sitting down on the bed again, he sat closer to her this time leaving little to no space between the two of them. "I've always loved you. Like I said, that's the one thing that's remained constant between us all this time." His dark eyes grew soft and they looked soulful, it was obvious as to how genuine he was being and he hoped that she would see that. Watching the beautiful blonde's eyes fall to her lap, he immediately reached over and lifted her face to look into her eyes. "I'm not going anywhere. Promise." He really meant it and wanted her to know this. Right now there was no where else he would rather be. Really, no where else he needed to be other than with her right now. Now gripping her face with both hands, though he was doing it gently, he looked deeply into her beautiful eyes. "Are you still my girl?" he asked her softly. He remembered a time long ago where he'd asked her that same question and she'd replied "always". Right now he was looking for that same answer, and hoping his earlier antics wouldn't prevent that from happening. They'd been apart long enough and he was tired of staying away from what made him truly happy. [/blockquote] -------------------------------------------- Tag: Buffy Word count: 795 Notes: Sorry it wasn't longer. I could have made it longer, but I didn't feel like fluffing it up for no reason. Plus I feel like crap lol. Hope it was okay!

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could see the wheels turning and she was surprised when anger seemed to be the predominant emotion on his handsome face. She wasn’t sure what she had said to set him off but the anger on his face closely resembled the anger that came upon it when they were in the middle of dealing with some big evil type deal. It wasn’t usually a look that he had directed towards her. Her slayer senses were screaming at her to protect herself as an irate vampire was in the room with her but she stayed calm, knowing that Angel would never hurt her.
She knew the thoughts that were going around in Angel’s mind. They were the same thoughts that he spouted out the day he broke up with her. She could remember that day more clearly than most and it had been one of the most heartbreaking days of her lives. It rivaled that of her mother’s death, the day that technically never was, and Tara dying. It had been a day that had started out great and ended in something akin to tragedy. She still hated thinking of that day but she knew that it often popped up in her mind in the worst way.
You deserve more. You deserve something outside of demons and darkness. You should be with someone who can take you into the light. Someone who can make love to you. I don't care about that. You will. And children. Children? Can you say jumping the gun? I kill my goldfish. Today. But you have no idea how fast it goes, Buffy. Before you know it, you'll want it all. A normal life. I'll never have a normal life. Right, you'll always be a slayer. But that's all the more reason why you should have a real relationship instead of this, this freak show.
She could remember her stunned reaction at calling the one thing that made her feel like a normal girl a freak show. She bit her lip in order to not say anything and waited for him to respond, luckily not having to wait long.
Okay, so maybe she could have waited forever. She was stunned to say the least when she heard that he had had sex since they were broken up. She opened her mouth to ask with who but then clamped it shut, really not wanting to know. She prayed it wasn’t with Cordelia. She knew it wouldn’t have been with Faith as that was something that Faith would have definitely told her over the past year…but if it was with Cordelia she might literally have a heart attack. She wasn’t sure who else it could have been with but something deep inside her told her she really didn’t want to know.
Instead of asking questions and clarifying things that she really didn’t want to know, she reached up and smacked him upside his head. “You risked your soul to get laid Angel!? Seriously!? How the hell did that even work in your vampire brain?” She asked him, outraged. It was not sinking in her head that sex didn’t equal losing his soul…it was her. However that wasn’t sinking into her racing brain at the moment.
She watched Angel stand up and pace the room, and as she did she truly listened to what he was saying. Wow, she wasn’t sure whether to be offended at the fact that it was essentially her fault that his soul have been lost (she had always known that but really she just thought it was the fact that she gave him ‘true happiness’ in the primal sense) or if she should be flattered that it was only her that he could feel true happiness with. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to take Kathy’s road and stomp off to rant about gypsies screwing with people’s lives. She knew that Angelus had done some shitty things over the years but still, this was beyond ridiculous.
She watched as her former lover came to sit next to her once more, and heard his words about how he loved her and that had stayed constant. She nodded her head, feeling his finger under her chin and bringing it up to meet his eyes. His soulful eyes that she could get lost in as easily as anything.
“You have to promise me Angel. I can’t take losing you again. Even if things go bad…promise me you won’t leave me. I can handle anything as long as you’re by my side.” She told him, a tear rolling down her cheek. Her eyes brightened in a way that they hadn’t in a long time when he asked the words that he had asked her long ago. Her answer had never changed. “Always.” She told him before launching herself at him, landing directly in his lap. She grinned at him. “I love you.”

--------------------------------------------
The reaction on her features about him having had sex during their time apart was obvious. She was stunned and downright hurt it seemed. Honestly he hadn't meant to hurt her, he'd only wanted to get his point across. He needed her to know that the curse wasn't sex alone but instead her specifically. If she knew that, she might be able to understand the curse better and therefore his decision to leave years ago.
It had nothing to do with sex, it had everything to do with her and only her. She was his weakness and she was his humanity. She was everything to him, all of his happiness had something to do with her. When he was with her, he felt like he was the best image of himself possible. She made him better than he really was, she was everything to him.
It would probably bug Buffy to not know who he'd slept with, but he didn't care. He didn't feel the need to tell her about Darla, not yet. He would wait to tell her about Darla and Connor until a better time. Right now, it would just cause even more of a fight and an argument. He didn't want to argue with her.
He wanted to hold her, to kiss her, and to tell her that he loved her. But right now that seemed an impossible feat with the way that the conversation was heading. Plus, he didn't want to imagine her reaction to him having a son. Children had been something he'd told her he could never give her. If she knew he had a son with someone else, she'd be crushed.
Before he really realized what was happening, the blonde was smacking him upside the head. He shot her a "wtf" look after realizing what had just happened. "Let's not even get into this. We really don't need to have this conversation." Quite honestly he knew that she didn't want to hear about the various other women who had stopped into his life. And this also meant that he didn't want to hear about Riley and Spike, plus whoever else had made an appearance in hers lately.
The fact that she'd slept with Spike really bothered him to this day. He just couldn't believe it, after all the years the two spent fighting each other. After all of the trouble Spike had caused. Plus, he went off and got a soul too, which really ticked Angel off. He was the first one to have a soul and now it was the new thing. Trying to shrug these thoughts off he found himself growing more and more annoyed.
Suddenly she flipped some kind of switch and she was the weak Buffy, the one who would show her pain to him. Again she was asking to be promised that he wouldn't leave. Hadn't he just said that? He suspected that perhaps she'd just needed to hear it again. Or, she'd forgotten he'd just promised between the smacking and the arguing.
Nonetheless he would tell her as many times as she asked. As many times as she needed to hear. He wanted her to feel good about it, to not fear him leaving in her heart and to know that he was genuine. As she launched herself onto his lap, he put both hands on her thighs as she wrapped her legs around him.
A small smile began creep across his features, spreading like wildfire. "I'm not leaving you, not unless you want me to one day. I promise. I'll stay here as long as you want me here." He really hoped that she'd actually believe him this time. If she didn't, he'd promise her again. And again, and again, and again, until she believed him. If they were really going to do this he didn't want her to have any doubts in her mind. He didn't want her to be afraid that she'd wake up and he'd be gone one night, he wanted her to know that he was here for good. If it came down to it one day and she wanted him to leave for whatever reason than he would, plain and simple. He was going to do whatever he could to make her happy and to keep her happy. Having her sit on top of him like this reminded him of years ago, them together back in Sunnydale. Her sitting on his lap had been a normality back then. Now, it seemed such a strange oddity, though a nice one. "I love you" he replied sweetly, planting another kiss on her lips. He just couldn't help it, he wanted to be with her so badly. To kiss and to hold her, to touch her. Already he was beginning to worry if being in this bed with her was a bad idea. It'd been so long since they'd been together, he wanted her. But for everyone else's sake, including Katheryn's, he knew that they both had to be careful. It was really nice to hear that she was still his girl though, she had indeed told him the same thing she'd said back in Sunnydale. Out of pure joy, he kissed her a second time, this time letting his lips linger a bit longer, not wanting to stop. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer couldn’t help but laugh at the look on Angel’s face after she smacked him. Usually her smacking someone upside the head was reserved for Xander when he was being retarded, but she couldn’t help it. If Angel made a boneheaded decision she was going to hold him accountable for it…especially when it came to endangering the lives of others. She really didn’t want to know who he had slept with and why he hadn’t lost his soul…but either way the fact remained the same. She hadn’t known that sex didn’t equal losing his soul and she wasn’t sure how he did but either way if he hadn’t known it…never mind. The thoughts were too complicated and annoying to even think about.
She thought for a brief moment that Angel would push her off him…since technically this was a no no…especially on the bed. However much to her relief instead of pushing her away like she had almost thought he would, he held her closer. She couldn’t help the small shiver she felt at feeling his arms on her legs but she knew she had to keep that to herself. It had been a long time since she and Angel had even attempted a relationship and she knew she would have to tread softly to make sure he wouldn’t run. If Angel heard her thoughts he’d probably be annoyed with her but luckily he wasn’t some creepy mind reading vampire so her thoughts were safe….at least as long as she kept her facial expressions somewhat normal.
She learned her head into his chest, feeling more at home than she had felt since the day he walked away. He had always been a safe harbor for her. Even though she had attempted to move on and had tried being with other people, both human and vampire alike, it had never come close to what she felt when she was in his arms. In his arms she felt vulnerable and indestructible at the same time. Vulnerable because she knew she could be. She knew that if someone tried to hurt her he would do whatever he could to stop it. He would do everything in his power to make sure that no hurt fell upon her. Indestructible because she felt like with him by her side that she could defeat anything. She and him had never lost a fight while fighting together. The Morah demon had said it perfectly. Together you were powerful…alone you are dead. Granted, they had survived without each other…but they were much more powerful together than apart.
The blonde slayer heard her…whatever he was…his voice and grinned at his statement about not leaving her unless she asked him to. “I’ve never wanted you to leave Angel so I hope you’re ready to carry me around when I need a walker…those things are definitely not attractive and I’d much rather look like a cougar being carried around by my handsome man than look like the hunchback of notre dame” She rambled on before biting her lip and quieting herself. “Wow, I really need to think before I talk.” She stated with a giggle.
Buffy sighed in relief when she felt his lips caress hers and the whisper words of loved. “You love me huh?” She asked with a smile. “Good thing too…I’d have to tie you up and…I don’t know what but I’d do something if you didn’t.” She stated with an impish grin. Feeling his lips pressed up against hers again felt amazing and she couldn’t help but throw herself into the kiss a bit more vigorously than usual. Her lips pressed against his, her tongue reaching out to gain entrance to his mouth, wanting to taste him. Kissing him was like breathing. She felt like she could breathe again for the first time in a long time…and it was something she would never take for granted.
Unfortunately realistically she knew that she did have to breathe so she pulled away, leaning her head on his shoulder and panting a bit out of breath, but with a large smile on her face. She couldn’t believe that this evening had turned out like this, but she was more thankful than anything that it had. “So…what are we?” She asked with a giggle…feeling lighter and…younger, than she had in years. “Can I go downstairs and introduce you to the newest potential as my boyfriend or should I just call you an old friend or what? And yes I realize that having this conversation is really early and ridiculous but give me something here Angel.” She stated, bringing her head up so she could look him in the eyes. She knew her eyes showed her vulnerability at that moment, as if one word from him could make or break her.

When she laughed after smacking him, he couldn't help but allow a small smile to tug at his cheeks. Her laugh was something he hadn't heard in a long time, something he truly cherished. It was strange how the two of them could be apart for so long and yet seem so close, as if they hadn't missed a beat of being apart. He knew that they probably shouldn't be together, that it probably wasn't safe for anyone. But why couldn't he have what he wanted after all this time? He'd left her years ago, almost five years pretty soon here. So why couldn't he finally just give in to what he wanted? After waiting so long, it was like sweet bliss. Ignorant bliss but still, wasn't that the best kind?
Having her sit on top of him wasn't something that he'd expected, though he didn't mind. It wasn't like he was a teenager with raging hormones. She was beautiful and he did love her, but he wasn't going to just jump her right then and there, he knew better.
Or did he? A couple hours ago in the living room, some would think that he didn't. He had basically jumped her only a few hours ago right in the middle of the living room where anyone could have walked right in and seen them. It wasn't like Angel to do things without thinking. It was definitely like Buffy, no offense to her. Angel however usually always thought things out quite carefully before executing them. In fact, he sometimes thought about things too much before he did them. It was kind of a downer sometimes, he did have to admit that. Sometimes it prevented him from going after what he really wanted deep down. This in particular had happened with Buffy many times.
As she leaned her head against his chest, he felt relaxed. Not even just relaxed but...at peace. It was nice to have her there, just laying against him. The two of them could finally just relax with one another and be at ease. It wasn't something either of them got to do often and he would be sure to enjoy it. Having her this close was a bit nerve wracking though, he couldn't lie about that. Listening to her ramble on about growing old, he let out another chuckle that came from deep in his chest. "I'll get you your own walker, with sparkles and whatever color you want it." It was a strange comment coming from him, he didn't joke around like this often. Then again, how often was he spending time like this with Buffy? All of it seemed a bit out of character to him.
One that had been around as long as Angel had been knew that there was always a bit of truth to joking. She may have laughed and joked about growing old but he knew it probably did bother her. He assumed they'd cross that bridge when they came to it. For now, he didn't want to think of it, though it was hard not to. Having to one day sit by and watch her age and pass away would kill him inside. At least she would hopefully go peacefully, though she wouldn't have the fat grand babies that she had once wanted and still deserved.
He noticed that her grin was extra devilish when she talked this time, teasing him about him saying that he loved her. They both knew that he'd always loved her, yet he couldn't help but wonder if she'd ever doubted it. All of his thoughts soon dilapidated when she threw herself into their kiss. She had thrown herself into him with a blinding passion. Again, they began to go at it like they had earlier. As her tongue begged his lips for entrance, he allowed it, against better judgement. Their tongues met in a wild and fiery dance as they intertwined around each other. He felt his hands tighten on her thighs as they kissed, tightening more and more by the second as he pulled her closer to him.
When she finally broke away he couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. He knew he had no reason to be, as they shouldn't have been kissing like that in the first place, but he couldn't help it. Even if only for a moment he'd forgotten everything else and had lost himself in her. It felt like the old days, when they'd stop for a quick makeout session during patrol in the cemetery. She'd been a kid back then and he'd been an old vampire still. It seemed that even today they still had the same amount of chemistry. Sometimes, he wondered if they didn't have more chemistry than before. Now that they were both older, what they wanted was a lot more clear, even if it was complicated at the same time.
Buffy was always the first one to start up with the questions. She always had been, ever since they'd known each other. He had just assumed that they were back together but maybe she'd missed that memo? "You said it yourself, that your my girl. So introduce me as yours" he said matter-of-factly. To him, they had already established that they were together. As he noticed his grip on her thighs was still a bit tight, he awkwardly let go before returning his eyes to her. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She knew that Angel wasn’t actually mad at her for slapping him. Granted if she would have hauled off and slugged him or something along those lines, then he might have been a bit peeved with her…but then again it wouldn’t have been the first time she had done it. The only reason he got mad at her about it is because it actually hurt him. He had admitted more than once that she was a bit stronger than him and he knew that in an all out fight most likely she would be the victor. Granted that was 4 years ago so who knows what sort of special tricks he had learned over the years…but then again she had learned a few herself as well.
Either way Angel had always had a hard time staying mad at her…whether it was for something she really truly deserved for him to be mad at her about or something that was ridiculous like a little slap upside the head. He tended to spoil her in that way and it was something she had gotten used to. Unfortunately for her not everyone was like that so she had to get used to not being spoiled after he had left her. It wasn’t an easy feat but she had gotten used to it.
She couldn’t help the small laugh from escaping her lips when Angel commented on getting her a sparkly walker. However the thought itself was starting to freak her out a bit. There was one time when she would have killed to be able to plan her future. Hell she remembered Angel and her talking about it on numerous occasions.
Sorry, honey! That's okay. Well, there's something you don't see every day. Unless, of course, you're me. That was bracing. Want to do another sweep? It's what I live for. Sad to say? You too tired? No. it's just...Do you get the feeling that we're kind of in a rut? A rut? You never take me any place new. What about that fire demon nest in the cave by the beach? I felt that was a nice change of pace. So this is our future? This is how we're going to spend our nights when I'm fifty and you're...the same age you are now. Let's just get you to fifty. Liking that plan.
And now, she wanted more than anything was to stop aging. She couldn’t pretend like she didn’t know that there was a way to do that, but it wasn’t something she would ever even consider. Her and Dawn had spoken about it one night. She had asked her if she had ever considered becoming a vampire and her answer was a hardcore NO. That was actually her worst nightmare to be honest. To become a vampire. Though the not aging was the only thing decent about the whole thing…but not for the reason that most would think.
A lot of people would think the whole not aging thing would be the perfect way to stay young forever. That wasn’t the reason she wanted it. She simply never wanted to leave Angel. She knew her mind was racing with things that really had no business coming into play for at least the next five to ten years. Angel had been turned when he was 28 or 29 she believed so he was still a few years older than her in his human age…and had several hundred years on her technically. However what would they do when she aged and he didn’t? She wasn’t sure…but they had time. Just like she always did, she pushed the bad thoughts away, not wanting to deal with them until she absolutely had too.
She couldn’t help but laugh a bit at the almost pout on Angel’s face when she pulled away from their kiss. He was so handsome and yet could be so adorable at the same time. Her hand caressed his cheek softly, grinning at him. “Don’t pout…it’s not attractive on a man your age.” She told him with a giggle before pecking his lips. Loving the way she felt lighter than she had in years now that they were whatever it was they were.
Her question was answered and a blinding smile lit her face. “So you’re mine huh?” She asked before leaning back into his chest, her arms wrapping around him as much as she could. “I love you.” She told him before closing her eyes. “And I’m so glad we found our way back to each other.” She stated, her eyes drooping but she didn’t want to fall asleep…knowing that when she woke up this could most likely be a dream.
Her heart started to race as she had those thoughts. They reminded her of something she hadn’t told him and she knew there would never be a right time to tell him. She knew he could most likely hear her heart racing to an almost unhealthy level and she knew he would most likely ask…but how could she answer him? Could she tell him that she remembered their day? Would it make him happy to know that he didn’t have to carry the burden alone? Or would everything come crashing down on her once more.

As soon as he saw that all too familiar look on her face, he knew that she was thinking hardly about something. From the looks of it it wasn't anything good. More than likely it had to do with her inevitable aging. One day she would begin to look older than him and eventually, quite a bit older than him. Most slayers didn't live past twenty five so she was doing alright in his eyes. Plus, he wanted her to live a long life. A long, human life. Honestly he'd never really thought about it, but were slayers still considered human?
He had tasted slayer's blood before, he'd tasted Buffy's actually. It tasted similar to human blood except...better. Just thinking about it made his mouth water and for that he hated himself. He was a monster, he could hear her heart beating right now. He could feel the blood pump through her veins and move throughout her body. It was times like these that sometimes, he wished he wasn't here to even be thinking this. It was instincts for a vampire to act in such way and he couldn't help it. Even though he couldn't help it, he desperately wished he could. Just thinking about her like this made him feel guilty.
His eyes opened wide as she basically called him old. Of course he was being overly dramatic on purpose. "Calling me old? I'm offended, Miss Summers.." he told her with a fake, mocking tone while he jokingly wagged his finger at her. This was entirely out of character for him, but he loved it all the same. It was nice to be able to let loose and just have some silly fun. He literally hadn't had any in years, it was the perfect timing. Now he had Katheryn too and with Buffy now, it seemed like everything was falling into place. Granted it worried him a bit to be so happy but he'd deal with that later. For right now, he just wanted to enjoy the moment.
She seemed ecstatic at his response to what they were now. He hadn't wanted to just come out and say they were dating. The words girlfriend and boyfriend hadn't been something he'd wanted to say. Not because she wasn't his girlfriend again, but for other reasons. He'd avoided using terminology because he didn't truly know what to call her. She was much more than just his girlfriend. She was his soul mate, his girlfriend, his lover, his everything, without being his wife. Unfortunately she was stuck between wife and girlfriend but would never make it to wife. Yet, it still would make him feel bad to call her girlfriend. So for right now he just used possessive adjectives instead. It worked and she didn't seem to mind.
A smirk peeled across his handsome features, hearing her words. "Looks that way" he replied at being hers. In his eyes and his heart, they'd always been each other's. Sometimes it may not have seemed like it and he knew that had been a problem. Still, they always had been and always would be. It was just them. They belonged together and he didn't know anyone that would or could protest that. "I always knew we would" he said more seriously this time. He could tell that she was tired and he knew it was for obvious reasons. More than likely, she'd barely slept last night. Now it was around two o' clock in the morning and she was still awake, after working all day and then patrolling all night. He'd be worried if she wasn't tired right now. Leaning back to look in her eyes he pushed the hair back away from her face again gently. "Do you want me to go so you can get some sleep?" Truthfully he hadn't wanted to go so when she nodded no in response, he felt quite relieved. In fact he felt so relieved that he leaned forward and kissed her. Her lips met his with a spark of electricity. Something had gotten into both of them, something that shouldn't have. As she was still sitting on top of him, he rolled over and brought them so that they were both lying down. She was lying next to him, her leg wrapped around his. He continued to kissing her, not wanting to stop, even though he knew he should. atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor was annoyed. Okay, so annoyed really was a polite word for the way she felt at the moment. No. Screw being annoyed. She was downright pissed off. Her little childish face currently wore the vampire visage which was something to see being that she was adorable even with it and it tended to make her mad that she wasn’t nearly as ferocious as other vampires were who were her technical age. She had never met another vampire her physical age of 11 so she wouldn’t know if they looked like she did or not, but that was besides the point. How could someone do that to someone else? Making it to where Angel…Liam…Angelus…whatever his brother was going by these days couldn’t have one moment of happiness or else his soul would be lost? And really, how was that punishment for him? Yes, for Angel, that would be tragic. But really, from what she had understand the people who had punished Angel were doing so because of Angelus’ mistakes. So why make it to where he could get free again? If anything a permanent soul would be worse than anything because then he would ALWAYS care about what he had done. She really didn’t understand what those people were thinking when they cursed her brother, but if they were in a room with her right now she would…well she probably wouldn’t really be able to hurt them since she was sort of weak but she would definitely give them a screaming that would make them potentially go deaf. She huffed as she pulled on a black jacket over her pajamas before sitting on her bed. She wanted nothing more than to go take a walk but had a feeling her older brother wouldn’t be so happy with her if he walked down here to find out that she was gone. She really didn’t want to make him mad just yet…so instead she would annoy him, she thought to herself, and stood up, walking upstairs. She followed the noises that she heard until she came across a room on the top floor. She walked in and immediately groaned. “Alright, you say you two can’t be together…but the evidence is really stacking up against you. Liam, you really need to learn some self control.” She said with a giggle before leaning against the wall. “I can’t sleep and I’m mad, so I figured I would annoy you big brother.” She stated with a giggle, waiting to see how the two lovers would respond. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer couldn’t help but let the laugh that bubbled to the surface out of her lips at Angel pretending to be offended by calling him old. Really though, could you blame her. How many other two hundred and some odd old men did people know? Especially ones that looked like Angel. She had to admit, even though she hated to think of Angelus, they had been right when they wrote about him in books. ‘The demon with a face of an angel’…Yeah that was definitely correct. Angel’s face would make true angels cry because he was just beautiful in that way. And yeah, she knew that if she ever told him that he’d probably laugh at her, which was the main reason she kept it to herself. “Well seriously old man, can ya blame me? You’re practically ancient.” She told him with a laugh, her eyes shining and alight with happiness.
She knew she would probably pay for that comment later but she couldn’t help it…she was just incredibly happy. She knew that she was acting like a slight moron being that she was channeling her sixteen year old self and in reality she was 25. However either way it didn’t matter. She was happy and she wanted to allow herself to revel in it for a bit. She wasn’t naïve. She knew that most likely any time in the next few days something would drop down on her head that would wrench her happiness away. Be it a demon who wanted to end the world, a vampire who decided that they were going to make her his target or just an ordinary day in the office. Either way she knew it was coming, she could feel it in her bones. With that thought in her mind she decided to allow herself the few moments of happiness that she was allowed before she had to put back on her slayer hat.
Angel’s voice telling her that he was hers pulled her back out of her thoughts and she smiled softly. “I was always your girl, I hope you know that.” She told him before shaking her head at his question. “No, I don’t want to go to sleep yet. I don’t want to close my eyes and wake up tomorrow to find out this is a dream.” She told him before continuing. “Anyway, back to what I was saying. I was always your girl Angel. Even when things sucked. Even when we weren’t speaking. Even when…” She trailed off, not really wanting to say ‘Even when I was sleeping with Riley or Spike’ but the inflection was there. “I was always yours…I never stopped loving you. It took me a bit to realize that because at the time I wanted nothing more than to stop…or to hate you or something…but I couldn’t. Once I embraced that part of me things were a lot easier.” She told him with a smile, hoping she hadn’t offended him.
Apparently she hadn’t as his lips met hers in a fiery kiss. Thank god for that too because her skin was almost on fire from needing him so much. She wasn’t sure what the feelings were that were rushing through her veins but she knew she needed to quell them and the only way to do that was to feel Angel. She knew that was weird but she couldn’t help it. She needed his body against hers. She needed to feel his hands on her, to feel her hands on him. She wanted nothing more than to be connected in every way and she made that her mission, forgetting all about the consequences. Her legs wrapped around him as she desperately wanted him closer. Her body felt like it couldn’t get enough of him and as their kiss continued, she moaned slightly at the feelings that were coming up from within her.
Unfortunately their time ended much too soon when a small voice broke her out of her lust induced haze. She heard Kathy’s comment about not being together and she immediately realized where she was and what she had been doing. She thought about springing back and acting all embarrassed but she just groaned and pushed her face into Angel’s chest. “Alright, you caught us. Get in here and keep us occupied then so I don’t have to run away in embarrassment.” She told Kathy, not even pretending like she wasn’t doing anything she shouldn’t have been. She knew she had been…and she wasn’t going to apologize for it either.
