- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She heard the stairs creak as the two descended them but she paid them little mind. She needed the release and they weren’t going fast enough for her. Her mind cleared as she wailed on the punching bag, wishing it was harder. She thought momentarily about leaving to go patrol again, but vetoed the idea almost immediately. It would take too long to find a fight and she had no patience tonight. She needed to get the crap kicked out of her, as ridiculous as that sounded. She needed someone who could hold their own in a fight and not allow her to hold back her strength. Training had been a constant sore point in her and Riley’s relationship. She hadn’t admitted it to anyone, though she knew Giles was aware of it. She had to constantly watch herself with Riley, so much that it was painful for her. There were days that her muscles literally ached from disuse after training with Riley. She hated it because it was just another reminder that her true soul-mate wasn’t there and in his place was a lousy substitute.
She didn’t know why it affected her so much with Riley. She had trained with Willow and Xander before, though in reality it was really her teaching Willow and Xander to defend themselves…yet it had never bothered her before. She had trained with Giles numerous times and even though she had to hold her strength back it never bothered her. Yet, with Riley, it was torture. Maybe it was because Riley thought he was a demon hunter. She knew he had fought and killed vampires, but it was different. He did it with the help of gadgets that the initiative had provided for him…it was definitely not the same. He didn’t know how to fight without the gadgets and it was one of the main downfalls of his skills as a fighter. Another was that he was not imaginative at all. If he lost his stake, that was it. He lost the fight. In order to fight on your terms, you had to be ready and willing to use whatever was around to make sure that when the fight was over, it was you who was left standing.
Angel was different in all sense. When they were matched up, it was even. Obviously one of them would lose, but for the most part it was even. Angelus was the hardest thing she’d ever had to fight, including The First. While The First was obviously stronger than Angelus, it was still not the hardest fight she’d ever had. Angelus wore her lover’s face, which was one of the hardest parts of the battle they had fought while Acathla had lie dormant. Every thrust of the sword was a reminder that her lover was no longer in control. Every clank of metal against metal made the knowledge that one way or another one them wasn’t walking away sink into her brain even deeper. On top of the mental block she had with it, there was also the obvious physical battle. Angel and her had trained a lot before Angelus had surfaced. They had not only had actual training sessions, in which Giles brought him in on order to let her have a real opponent, but they had also patrolled together. They knew each other’s moves, each other’s habits, each other’s facial expressions. Angelus had Angel’s memories just as Angel had Angelus’. It was a battle with slayer against vampire, and yet, it was a complete toss up to who would win.
She heard Angel’s call out to her and she wondered if he was wondering why she started without him. If he had been anyone else she would say something like It was either this or throw you down and have my wicked way with you, but you’d lose your soul so yeah, don’t think that would be a good thing… but obviously she couldn’t say that. She didn’t need to remind him of the obstacles that stood in their way of being together. Though, in all reality, she didn’t even know if being together was something he thought about any longer. She knew he still loved her, that wasn’t the question. The look in his eyes when he looked at her was proof that he did indeed still love her. However, he could have someone in Los Angeles for all she knew, and she couldn’t begrudge him of that…though it would hurt her to know it.
She didn’t respond to him, instead kept hitting the bag until she felt herself being twisted around to face him. She stalled her hands before placing them on her hips, a challenging smirk on her face trying to hide the tension. I need something that was going to hold up against my harder punches.” She taunted him, knowing that he knew she was teasing. This was the way it had always been. “Come on Angel, but must have thought about it recently. You vampire, me the slayer, who would win if it came down to a fight. Let’s find out old man.” She told him, grinning a sarcastic grin. “Come on lover, kick my ass.” She stated before getting into a fight stance. She wouldn’t wait for him to be ready, he had to think on his toes.
She immediately swept her leg under him, trying to cause him to fall before she flipped back, not looking to see if she had succeeded in knocking him down. She realized what she had said a moment later as she was in mid air. She had basically said the same thing to him as she had once before, when she had gotten back from Las Angeles and wasn’t dealing well with the whole Master killing her thing. She had also called him lover, something that neither he nor she ever even spoke of unless he was Angelus. She groaned to herself but knew it was pointless to worry about it. There was no rewind or delete buttons on life…so she would just have to deal with it as it came.
She heard Willow mutter a spell and could feel the blades coming towards her. Luckily she looked up as she noticed they were on fire. She groaned and flipped over, kicking all of them out of the way and sending them to the opposite side of the room that Angel was in. “WILLS! Fire=Bad! Stick to knives and such! Fire+Vampire=dead vampire=A very unhappy slayer!” She told her, knowing that she was being a bit harsh but couldn’t help it. She didn’t need Angel to have survived everything else and yet get killed by her friend for being a bit to zealous when it came to magic.

-------------------------------------------- Angel couldn't help but smile at Willow when she showed her excitement to go train with Buffy. The witch was so happy it almost radiated off of her and this made Angel happy because he cared about her. It was nice to see her this happy, he only wished that Buffy would be as happy as her. Honestly Angel couldn't remember a time when Buffy was as happy as Willow was right now. Actually, he could, but it was a long time ago.
The last time he had seen Buffy's face glow like Willow's was the day that he became human. The day that she didn't remember, because he'd had it erased from her mind. However, it was the last time she'd been truly, completely, utterly happy. It was the last time Angel had truly been happy too and that day was what kept him going right now. It gave him hope that maybe one day, they would truly make him human and he could live out his life with his lover. Though it didn't seem like it was going to happen anytime soon, so he just continued to think about that day for right now.
When he spoke she ignored him, still punching the bag until he spun her around. As she spoke, the words hurt and he remembered them vividly. She'd said them once before, back after she'd been killed by the master and didn't know how to deal with it. Then she'd been trying to be hurtful but right now, he suspected it was just a bit of playfulness. In the background he heard Willow utter a spell and recognized it in Latin as saying something about fire. As she said it, he allowed Buffy to sweep him off the ground.
As she swept him onto the ground the knives that were on fire swept over his head. Saving his own fall, he turned it into a roll and rolled over to the opposite side of Buffy. Now a few feet away from her and several away from Willow, listening to Buffy reprimand her for using fire in her spell. It had been a pretty good spell though, he was impressed at that.
"Hey, Buffy, it's okay. She's not used to having a vampire in the house, it'll take some getting used to." He said it as softly as he possibly could, trying not to start a conflict between either him and Buffy or letting one start between Buffy and Willow.
As he said this, something sprang into his mind that he wished hadn't. Spike. Spike had previously stayed with Buffy, living with her for a while. The two had even been intimate, and that killed Angel inside. Just the very thought of her being with Spike made him not only jealous, but extremely pissed off. At least with Riley he'd been a good guy and could offer her things Angel could not. With Spike, Spike had nothing to offer besides sex. Now that these thoughts had entered his mind, he desperately wanted to fight something. He never wanted to hurt Buffy, but he also knew he didn't really have to worry about it with her. She could handle her own and she was extremely hard to injure with her slayer powers.
Without saying another word he caught eye contact with Buffy and nodded before going into a fighting stance. They would spar and Willow would continue to throw different spells at them, hopefully without the fire this time. As they both stood in their stances, they began squaring off and walking around each other. He decided he'd be the one to make the first move. With his vampiric speed on his side, he moved forward and threw a roundhouse kick to wards her midsection. If it didn't connect, he'd follow up with a jab or two.
It felt funny to be here with Buffy again, training like the old days. She looked as beautiful as ever, though he'd still kick her ass in a second. It was exciting to be sparring with someone who could keep up. Obviously Gunn and Wesley had tried to assist, but he'd always had to hold himself back. Now he knew Buffy and himself would both let loose for once and things might get a bit crazy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Willow stopped realizing she called the wrong spell, she was a bit tired so sometimes it would make her magic go all wonky. “Oh god I’m sorry guys! I said the wrong incantation oh god Angel you ok? I’m so sorry I wasn’t trying to kill you I swear.” Willow knew she need to be more careful, the last thing she wanted to do was kill or hurt Angel. Buffy just might have to kill Willow if she did that, and Willow didn’t really feel like a mean Buffy tonight. Willow then looked at Buffy and Angel and said to them “All right guys we will try something else ok, how about just some basic knifes throwing stuff, that sound ok guys?.” Willow then put her hands up and cast the spell as she called out “culti ego imperium thee ad suboles” Willow watched to see how Buffy and Angel would doge them, She wasn’t to worried though, Buffy could take on anything. Willow wouldn’t even want to spar with her that was for sure. Buffy would kick Willow butt in less she used Magic, and she only use it to help train. She would never really want to hurt Buffy with it, Willow would never forgive herself if she did that. After doing that for about fifteen minutes or so , Willow decided it was time to stop. “Ok guys I’m tired, you go head and spar and I will watch you both, how does that sound? Just try and be easy on one another I don’t want to have to separate you too” Willow said with a giggle. Willow loved watching Buffy and Angel spar it was fun to watch them, they really got in to it sometimes and it could even get a bit rough. Willow then walked over to the corner of the room and sat down and got comfy, “ahh this is nice” She said as she sat down. “man I’m getting sleepy, this should be quick Buffy is going to take Angel down” Word Count- 340 Tagged- Willow PJs Outfit- Click To see Willow's Pj'sNote- I hope it was ok, sorry it was a shot post i'm not at home so i didnt get long on line. ~~~~~~~~~~~
- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She shook her head, trying to get her head back into the game. This was ridiculous and there was no way in hell she was going to let Angel take her down. He wouldn’t let her live it down for weeks. That was just the way they were. Neither one rarely ever actually won. It was more that they eventually just declared one the winner. She could remember many times where they would be sparring, and when either he would land on top of her or she would land on top of him, it would turn into a heated make out session.
Her mind wandered as her body acted on auto pilot, throwing kicks and punches at him with ferocity. Her heart ached to just say screw it and to throw herself at him. Her head screamed at her that this was her mate! The other half of her soul! Her soul screamed at her to stop fighting with him and to just take him into her arms (by force if necessary) and just shake him, begging him to take her back. She groaned, apparently she had talking parts of herself now…great…maybe it was finally time for the loony bin.
She felt a right hook catch her off guard and she sprung back, now getting a bit pissed. Not at him, never at him. No, at herself for not keeping herself in the game. This was ridiculous! She was the slayer for gods sake. She had beaten the first, glory, etc and she was going to let Angel win? Hell no. Not that Angel wasn’t a worthy opponent, because he was. He was in all actuality probably one of the only opponents she ever fought that actually had the real chance of beating her.
It was the truth…though some would disagree. Sure she had been beaten before. However not in mere strength alone. Glory had kidnapped her younger sister. If it wouldn’t have been for that she would have won…granted Giles was the one who did eventually kill Ben which had Glory attached to him somehow…but still it counted. People had hurt those she loved and that was a visible wound to Buffy. Angel however, he was the one opponent who had the real ability to beat her. He didn’t have to capture one of her friends to make her choose. She knew that Angelus captured Giles but that was for his own needs, not to piss her off (okay, it might have been, but still). However when it came to a actual fight, just on their terms, he could beat her.
They were matched up pretty well in strength, agility, and speed. He had a lot of years on her in order to learn more fighting skills, but she had the creativity that had kept her alive over the last several years on her side as well. They both knew each other inside and out, which was an advantage and a disadvantage all at the same time.
She felt a knife coming towards her which Willow had used to distract her and without breaking stride she kicked it out of the way, hearing it land on the other side of the room. She was glad that Willow and Angel could take care of themselves and that no one else was in the house. She didn’t want to think what would happen if Andrew had stayed in Mystic Falls and had come downstairs…or if Dawn came down looking for them. Neither of them could deflect the knives like the three supernatural beings downstairs could, so she was glad that no one else was home.
Something snapped in her when she felt another kick and she finally let loose. She refused to let him beat her. The blonde slayer threw all her strength into a kick against his ribs, and watched as he went down. She didn’t give him time to recover before she kicked herself off and landed on top of him, her hand on his heart where a stake would go if she had one and he was actually trying to hurt her. She knew he could flip her over if he wanted to continue the spar, but she also knew he could accept defeat and allow her to win. It all depended on him, as it usually always did.
So she waited, with a smile on her face. It was all up to him.
-------------------------------------------- The fire had thrown Angel a bit off guard. Though it was an impressive trick, it could easily have been fatal for him. If even one part of him caught on fire there was a pretty good chance he would burst into flames and turn to dust. He knew that Willow had meant well, and hadn't meant it. Honestly Buffy had been more upset than Angel was. Even though it was fire, the chance of any of the knives actually hitting him was slim to none.
"Sounds good" he then replied to Willow, after she told them from now on she would be using regular knives.
Throwing knives had been a training tool many times before not only in his history but Buffy's as well. More than likely, it was common for any fighter. It showed that you had not only the agility to bat them away, but also the concentration and hand to eye coordination. The only thing that varied really was the number of knives. The more the knives, the more skilled the fighter.
After Willow apologized, they began sparring yet again. As knives were thrown at them they batted them away easily. A few times he felt himself get a bit distracted by them and he took a couple punches, but Buffy did the same thing. The knives weren't the most challenging part of this spar, they both knew that.
This was nature at it's best, vampire versus slayer. It was how destiny had put them against each other and right now, they were proving who would really come out on top. Though he remembered in the past that neither of them ever truly came out on top, they simply agreed to end the spar.
The way that they fought each other was amazing, beautiful, even, to Angel. They moved as if they were in sync. They came together with each kick and punch as if they were one. Not only was it slayer versus vampire, but it was soul mates versus each other as well.
As time went on, they both continued to be more and more ferocious. Both sending kicks and punches that to anyone else, may have seriously injured them. The great thing about training with the slayer was that you didn't have to worry about hurting her. Angel found himself really letting go and pushing himself, trying to keep on top of her and ahead of her moves. Some of her moves he already knew after spending three years together. They had trained and patrolled together and during the time when he lost his soul, even seriously fought each other. So some of her moves he could anticipate, and some were new.
After a while he took a strong kick, knocking him onto the ground. If he had been human, he would have had several cracked ribs at that moment. Hell, even though he was a vampire he was pretty sure she'd cracked a couple ribs. If he could breath, he would have lost his breath. It had been the strongest kick all night between the two and he suspected it was because she was trying to end it.
After hitting the ground, he hesitated getting back up right away. He knew from past experience that she would sit on top of him and 'pretend' stake him. For some reason, he wanted to end the fight. Not because he didn't want to win because honestly, he always wanted to win. A part of him couldn't stand losing even. However, he didn't want to fight with her. As he sat on top of him, the sexual tension was out of control. He wasn't quite sure if it was mutual but right now, he had the strong urge to kiss her. To take her into his arms and kiss and hold her all night long.
Before he took any longer, he decided to just end the sparring for tonight. He knew that before she left, they would probably have many more sessions. Plus he'd just gotten here and the sunlight would be coming anytime, so he figured he'd get some sleep. He didn't need to sleep very often but right now he kind of wanted to. Not because he was tired, but because he knew if he was sleeping, he wouldn't go into his lovers room and take her into his arms.
It would be a struggle, but he knew that he couldn't do that.
Looking up into her beautiful eyes, he threw his hands up as to signal that he was surrendering. Maybe if they stopped now, they could talk before they went to sleep. Maybe he could kiss her goodnight.
Just as he finished that thought his mind screamed out at him, telling him to stop thinking like that. There would be no late-night conversations and definitely no kissing. He would go to his own room and try to get some sleep. His mind would not let him give into his heart, no matter how bad he wanted to.
"Alright, I'll give you that one but I want a rematch later" he told her, smirking.
As she stood up and got off of him, he stood up as well and dusted off his sweat pants. The both of them were sweating pretty decently, and would probably want to shower. At least that would be a nice way to get away from her without doing anything stupid.
"Thanks for the spells Willow. You've gotten really good, I'm impressed." As he said this he smiled to her, waiting for Buffy to say something.
He knew that he had to leave and go shower but he didn't want to be the one to leave. His feet felt frozen to the ground, begging him not to leave her. Eventually, he knew that he would, he just didn't want to be the one to leave first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Willow loved the comment that angel had giving her on her magic, she had gotten a lot better, that is when she isn’t going all dark on everyone. That was a time in Willow’s magic life she never wants to re live ever, its not something she is proud of at all. Hopefully Angel nor Tara ever has to see that side of her, which Willow isn’t to worried about. She really leaned to tame that side of her magic, it been almost 2 years that happened and Xander had to save her from herself. There isn’t a day that goes by that she don’t thanks Xander for what he did, he really is a great friend having helped Willow. Willow then looked at Angel with a big smile and said, “Thanks Angel! I have been working really hard since the last time you saw me, I’m always practicing trying to learn new spells and things. Plus it’s a fun hobby for mine, I love it! Stick around and over time you will see so much more.” Willow said that hoping he will sick around for Buffy sake, Buffy seemed a lot happier that he was here now with her. And lord knows everyone will feel a lot safer with him here. Not to many people will want to mess with the gang when they see a Slayer, a witch and a vampire on the side. It make for one killer combination. Willow sat over on the floor having fun watching them spar, it was pretty interesting getting to see Angel and Buffy fight. You never really know who is going to win, they are both pretty equal in strength which is why Buffy loves training with him, all though sadly in the end we all know who is going to win as always. Buffy wont let Angel walk away very easy, Willow just hopes she don’t mess him up to bad. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She took a breather as she waited for her former lover to continue on or admit defeat. She would admit to anyone who asked that he had gotten stronger as the years went on, though so had she so it really all worked out the same. He had once told her that she was stronger than he was and to this day she wondered if that was true. She knew that she had taken him down in a regular fight (well, not him, Angelus, but same body, same strength, just different personality) as well as several times in sparring matches.
She sighed, not wanting to get into it and she stood up, holding out her hand in order to help her former boyfriend up off of the floor. She grinned at him when he stated that he wanted a rematch later and shrugged her shoulders. “You want to lose again, that’s your prerogative.” She stated with a laugh before heading over to her best friend and picking up the bottle of water she had sat down there before she had come into the work out room. She smirked at her best friend when Angel complimented her, knowing that no matter how old she got Willow still wasn’t one to take compliments and usually her face turned as red as her hair.
“Alright, who wants to shower first. Wait…nevermind.” She stated with a laugh, rolling her eyes at herself. She had grown up in a house where there was one bathroom, not used to having as many as they did in this ridiculously large mansion. “Angel there is a bathroom down here that you can use and its stocked with towels, shampoo –though I’ll admit it’s my shampoo so it’s a bit girly smelling- and some soap and stuff…or you can use one of the ones upstairs. I’m headed to my bathroom and then going to pass out.” She stated to the room as a whole.
She didn’t want to leave him, didn’t want to take the chance of walking away and to wake up in the morning to find that this has all been some bizarre dream and Angel really was dead…however she was literally dead on her feet and she needed the rest. She walked over and stood up on her tip toes, leaving a small kiss on Angel’s cheek with a coy smile. “Sweet dreams.” She stated in a whisper before linking her arm with Willow’s and heading upstairs.
Praying that she would wake up in the morning and this would not be a dream.
