Raven hoped Buffy thought she did well with the slayage and all. Raven was nervous enough and being critiqued by Buffy would only make her work to redeem herself. Raven knew her nerves would be the cause of any harsh critique. She also knew that they had maybe her take her time with that newbie vamp. Raven could have been faster. She was going to beat herself up later for that. For now her safest bet was to stay with Willow while Buffy did her thing with the demon.

All Raven could do was stand by Willow while she was engolfed in her phone. But Raven was attentive enough to Buffy to see what Willow didn't. Anguish. The anguish in Buffy's eyes was powerful. All this anguish at the mention of this Silas guy being a demon with his humanity still intacked. A demon with a soul. Raven realized there was something in Buffy's past that must inflame her deep inside.

Raven thought for a second then said a very loud “Aha!” and realized it was loud enough everyone could hear. But Raven didn't care she knew a woman could only have that much anguish over one thing. A man. Not just any man either. A lover. Buffy had probably lost a man she loved. Truth be known he was probably exactly was Silas is, a demon with a soul.

Raven didn't want to feel sorry for Buffy but it was hard. Buffy probably thought feeling sorry for someone you just met was lame. But Raven felt like she had known “Buffy her who life. Buffy is a strong woman." Raven thought. Buffy reminded Raven of how strong her mother was before she disappeared. Buffy would never known how close Buffy felt to her.

Raven slowly walked over and rested a gentle, warm, and hopefully, comforting hand. Raven hoped Buffy knew that she was trying to tell her that she understood. Raven wanted Buffy to see that how sorry she felt for her loss. Raven could only hope Buffy would acknowledge what she was trying to across to her. All Raven did was look at Buffy and nod knowingly. Then Raven realized the demon had acknowledge her so she replied “I'm Raven and no you don't know of me but as long as you don't get on my bad side you will see I'm someone worth knowing.” Raven smiled as she made who she was known to the demon.

Silas's eyes widened in suprise at the contact he looked straight at Buffy's face and he noticed the anguish present, Silas had only seen this look of anguish mixed with sympathy before, but that was another life. He stood and stared in silence, the young one said her name was Raven, he began too take a walk down memory lane, he remembered a girl named Victoria who he revealed his secret too. It was a summer night when it happened, she took his hand and told him, "everything would be alright". However, he found out what she truly meant, he had him commit ed to an asylum for three years, when he was released he left and never saw her again. He snapped back to the present and was met with various stares as he regained his composure. He looked at Buffy, gently took her hand and shook it with respect, "Thank you", he released her hand and flicked his wrist.

A small piece of white paper appeared in his hand, written on it was his address and room number, he handed it to her and produced two more and gave one to Willow and Raven. "I have a lot to think on, but if you ever want company or a shoulder to cry on, I'm in the neighborhood". Silas then pulled out his shades and put them on, he turned on his heel and began to walk toward the graveyards exit he stopped and said with a smile toward Buffy, "and don't be so upset, you're beautiful, especially when you smile", he then continued to walk away. He had a slight spring in his step and a warm feeling in his heart, maybe he can live for something after all.

Willow was getting pretty board right about now, she felt like working on spells or something. She was a lot happier now that she found out about Tara coming home soon, but she still wanted to so something to keep her busy. Willow did agree with Buffy on one thing, this guy was a lot like D'hoffryn in way. Well he was annoying like him, so he had that going for him, “ He is a lot like D'hoffryn Buffy, you know it is funny you said that because I was thinking the Same thing.” Willow said to Buffy with a bit of a giggle.

Willow stood right next to Raven while opening up her magic book, looking inside to see what spells she might want to practice. There was some good ones in there that Willow could use with Buffy in helping train Raven. Willow used a lot of them with the students in Rome, they were also fun to do. Willow then looked over and asked Raven, “So Raven how do you feel about magic, I like to use some to maybe help us train you. What you think about that?” Willow wanted to make sure that she was ok with it, some people didn’t think very highly about magic. So Willow asks sometimes just to be sure, the last think she wants to do is cast a spell and give the girl a heat attack.

Silas's then walked over to Willow handing her and Raven each a note, and saying something about company or a shoulder to cry. Willow didn’t really know what to say, but as always Willow took it as him hitting on her. Kind of like the time with her and Fred, Willow handed back the note and said, “Sorry I’m gay and I don’t think my girlfriend Tara would like that very much. She is were I go when I need a shoulder to cry on and it is nice, But thanks for the offer anyway.” After that Willow went back to what she was doing, reading her spell book.

Buffy felt a comforting hand on her shoulder and was surprised and a bit weary when she noticed it was Raven…however before she could comment she heard the potential state that she was someone worth knowing and realized she was talking to Silas. Apparently her anguish hadn’t been as concealed as she had hoped it was but she ignored it, knowing there was nothing she could do about it now. It wasn’t as if she had a time machine where she could go back in time and take away the last few minutes to hide her pain…if she had a time machine she’d go back years instead of minutes…but that was definitely not the point at the moment.

Buffy shook out of her thoughts when she felt Silas shake her hand and she did the same, having much respect for the demon in question. She knew how it felt to do things that you had no power of…and to care. She remembered An…she remembered him saying those exact words many years ago when he was trying to pretend like he didn’t care.

I invited you into my home and then you attacked my family!
Why not? I killed mine. I killed their friends...and their friend's children...for a hundred years I offered ugly death to everyone I met, and I did it with a song in my heart.
What changed?
Fed on a girl about your age...beautiful...dumb as a post...but a favorite among her clan.

When you become a vampire the demon takes your body, but it doesn't get your soul. That's gone. No conscience, no remorse...It's an easy way to live. You have no idea what it's like to have done the things that I've done...and to care. I haven't fed on a living human being since that day.

She remembered the look of anguish on his face that day of just the memory of what his demon had done and she couldn’t help but want to comfort him…something she wished she could do for Silas but she had learned her lesson the hard way. She wouldn’t get emotionally involved with anyone any longer…it led to nothing but pain and misery. Hell if she could send her friends away to keep them safe she’d do it but they didn’t listen to her when she tried so she knew it would do absolutely no good.

She felt a piece of paper being placed in her hand and she looked down at it, noting that it was an address and phone number, she was assuming his. She noted where it was before sticking it in her back pocket…the one that didn’t have the stake in it. She made a mental note to remember not to wash her pants until she took it out of said pocket…she’d washed way too many dollar bills and the like to not know that she tended to forget.

She laughed loudly when Willow stated that her girlfriend wouldn’t like her being hit on and walked over, tapping Willow’s shoulder. “Uhh Wills, he’s not hitting on you…he’s being friendly.” She laughed, knowing Willow would most likely blush as red as her hair. “I don’t think Tara will care if you have more friends…” She laughed.

She was surprised as she felt a slight pink blush when she heard Silas’ parting comment about not being sad that she was beautiful especially when she smiled. She watched as he walked away before turning to the potential slayer and her best friend, trying to shake herself back into the slayer frame of mind.

“So Raven…do you live around here by yourself or with someone?” She asked, curious as to if the potential slayer would need to be with her at all times or if she had a place of her own.

Raven smiled at Buffy, seeing that Buffy did understand some of where she was coming from. Raven had made her way back to Willow when after she gazed upon a hand shake between Buffy and Silas, the demon. Raven watched as Silas had slipped Buffy a note, seconds later it was explained to be his number. Raven and Willow both recieved one with one thing being said to call Silas if they needed a shoulder to cry on. Raven smiled as he turned to leave.

“Will do.” Raven mutter but no one noticed thankfully. Willow was too busy explaining that her girlfriend wouldn`t like that Silas was hitting on her. Buffy was too busy laughing and explaining he was only being friendly. But Raven heard something. Something that came from Silas. He was calling Buffy beautiful, telling her not to worry. Raven knew Buffy heard it because she was smiling.

Raven stood smiling, she was still watching as Silas was walking farther and farther away. He was nice to look at. But Raven blinked it all away when she heard Willow ask her about magic. Raven looked a Willow and said "I'm no witch or wiccan but magic's cool I always wondered about it. I use to watch my..." Raven trailed off at the word of mom. It was hard to think about her mom ever since she just disappeared. "...my mom do charms and protect spells when I was little. And I wouldn't mind using it for my training." Raven smiled the best smile she could but even she knew her best in this situation made her eyes tell the pain she felt.

Raven was pulled from her thoughts when she heard Buffy say “So Raven---do you live around here by yourself or with someone?” Raven wasn't suprised by the question it would have came up but there was one problem. Yeah Raven lived by herself on what seemed like the sucky part of town. Even though it was cheap Raven only had $254 and that was enough for 5 more days at that motel. "Well, I live at a motel here in town but im from San Diego. I have $254 which is enough for 5 more days. After that I'm out of cash and a place to stay." Raven smiled with embarassement wondering what Buffy would say.

As Willow was reading her spell book she heard Buffy start to laughed at her, Willow got out from behind her book wanting to know what the heck was so darn funny. “Buffy what the heck is so funny? What did I do this time?” Buffy then told Willow that wasn’t hitting on her he was just being friendly, now Willow felt dumb. Well how was she suppose to know, Willow was always bad at telling when guys liked her. It took her while before she realized Oz liked was into her, “Well Buffy I didn’t know, you know I’m bad at knowing when guys are hitting on me. Plus he just acted like the type to do that.” Said Willow while her cheeks were turning bright red.

Willow then listened as Raven was telling her what she thought about magic, she notice that it almost seemed like a touchie subject for her. But it made Willow more intrigued to get to know her better, and Willow loved having more to do magic with. “ Yeah I could defiantly teach you some stuff, I love having more people to do magic with. So if you don’t mind me asking you, was you mom into magic then too?” asked Willow. She hoped that she wasn’t getting to nosey by asking, Willow was just trying to get to know Raven a little better so they have more to talk about.

Raven then was telling Buffy and Willow about her living arrangements, which made Willow rather sad for her. It almost sounded like she really didn’t have a place to stay, it sounded like she might want to think about maybe getting a job. Willow knew that soon she might want to think about doing that, she cant use the money sent from Rome forever. “well Raven I’m sorry to here that, don’t feel bad I don’t have much money myself. I need to get a job and soon, I just don’t really know were to look yet.” Said Willow.

The blonde slayer watched as the demon walked away before turning her attention back to the girls in front of her, one being her best friend and the other being a potential that since she had found her…well…since Raven had found Buffy technically but whatever, it was her duty to train. She rolled her eyes again at Willow’s comment about never knowing when someone was hitting on her and how the demon looked the type to do so. “I’m sure you’ll still tell Tara anyway wont you?” She asked, smiling at her best friend fondly. She wouldn’t admit it to anyone but herself but she was jealous of Willow and Tara’s relationship because even though Willow had done nothing wrong, they were still extremely honest with one another. She knew a lot of that came from Willow keeping her magic addiction from Tara but it was still nice to see that the two women’s relationship had stayed strong even with all they had been through.

She barely heard Raven’s comment about her mother but did notice her stumble over the word. She knew what that meant…she did it herself though not when talking about her mother, but when talking about Angel. However she wouldn’t push the subject…she’d let her come to her on her own time. She did have a few concerns about learning magic and learning to slay at the same time…or ever…but she figured she’d simply mention that it wasn’t standard practice at the school and move on. “Magic is taught at the slayer school but it’s a different type of magic. It’s really not the type that you use to battle…it’s more the type that you use if magic is the only way to fight something. There are a lot of times where magic is used to get rid of a mythical barrier…that’s really the only magic that we focus on because it is so addictive. Your bodies are going to go through a lot of changes while training to be a slayer and the more stress you put on it the more tired you’ll get. This is to ensure your healthy and prepared.” She stated before changing the subject.

Buffy’s eyes widened when she heard the young girl was basically going to be homeless in five days. She shook her head. “That won’t do. You have two options. You can either head to Rome to the Slayer School there or you can stay here and be trained by me and live with us until we head back to Rome in a few months. Once we go back we’ll either have a watcher sent out here to continue your training or you can come to the school with us and continue your training there.” She stated before throwing a look at Willow. “What are you talking about you don’t have money? We’re paid by Giles you goober. We have more money now than I know what to do with so hush.” She stated before smiling at Raven. “You are more than welcome to choose either option…you’re not alone anymore. There are so few people in the world that know about mystical things…we have to stick together.” She stated with a smile.

Her being into magic is what actually made me feel like there was more to the myths and stories about vampires and such, it made me feel like those things could be real. I was right ever since the first time i got attacked when I was sixteen. I didn't know what it meant. I didn't that I was a potiential until I realized I was way to good at doing what I was doing and feeling calm about it. I don't think the watchers council knows I'm a potiential yet I just think they know that there is a potiential in the area. So needless to say I have not been assigned a watcher and Willow I wouldn't mind doing magic. I have tried a couple of spells with my mom when I was little but it was mostly learning how to close curtains and boil water faster, oh and I can float a plastic cup." Raven smiled at Willow before she continued "Willow don't worry about the whole mother thing it's cool I just wish I knew if she was alive or not." Raven smiled and thought about her mother.

Raven smiled big and said "Thank you Buffy this means alot to me. Oh so do you want me to stay the five days I have or move in ASAP?" Raven felt it was a reasonable question. After all Raven was not the one who had the power to say what happens and what doesn't.

Willow was a bit lost when she said that she wish she knew if she was alive, Willow wanted to know what happened. But Willow really didn’t want to get to far into it, she would hate to bring her down anymore then she might have all ready done. “Well don’t worry I’m sure she is fine, maybe I could help you find her some how? Maybe magic can help you know? I will look into it. But yeah Buffy is right, Magic there is more taught to use in helping to help kind of protect you. But I’m still going to show you some cool stuff, I like to have audience sometimes.” Said Willow.

Willow liked having some to watch her do magic, Tara really wasn’t into it much, she thought Willow did it way to much. Which she was right. But Willow has toned down a bit, well she has tried at lest. Willow isn’t has bad as she was two years ago, she was bad then to the point she went all dark side on everyone. Man that was scary Willow never ever wants that to happen ever again ever! Just thinking about it gives Willow the wiggins.

Willow felt bad and really wanted to do something to help out Raven, she was with Buffy she should try and stay with them till she gets on her feet. It would also be great way in helping her train more living there, and would make it easier on Buffy. “Yeah you should stay with us it would help you with your training, and that means we could hang out more!” Said Willow all excited.

Buffy then told her to hush and that they had more money now than they knew what to do with, which was true but that still didn’t mean Willow wanted them to pay for everything for her. It made Willow feel useless sometimes, plus she needed something to do with herself and a way to meet new people. God how Willow would love to open her own magic show, “I know Buffy but I still wouldn’t mind having a job though, it might be good for me you know. I mean when I’m board I just go and do more magic, I do that to much all ready” Willow said giggling.

She wouldn’t admit to anyone else but herself (and possibly Willow but she wasn’t sure on that front) how close her and Dawn had become to being homeless once upon a time. It wasn’t something she cared to remember, though slinging burgers at the Doublemeat Palace was unfortunately something she had a feeling she would never quite forget. She knew that she had laughed it up with the group, but she had never been more embarrassed of herself than she had been when she was working in fast food simply to put food on the table for her younger sister.

She never admitted to anyone how much she treasured the counselor position she had been given at Sunnydale High School. It had quite honestly saved her life even though she had never really acted like it. She didn’t want Dawn to worry about money or anything of the sort and she knew that if she acted stressed over it her very observant little sister would have picked it up in an instant. It was also a horrible time that they were really all going through between her sleeping with Spike (something that she couldn’t say she regretted but at the same time she didn’t really care to remember), Willow and Tara breaking up, Dawn having lost both their mother and her sister in a year even though she was technically not dead any longer, Xander leaving Anya at the altar and Giles leaving town…it was not a good year to remember.

That was most likely the main reason that she couldn’t stand to see anyone she knew homeless…especially not someone who was technically her charge until they found her a watcher that she could get along with. That was one of the main things Giles and her had talked about. The former Watcher’s Council had just stuck watchers and slayers together, no matter if they got along or not. That was definitely not happening while they were running things. It was a catastrophe putting Faith and Wesley together from the beginning. Now granted it was also a catastrophe putting her and Wesley together but that was because she wanted no one but Giles. However Faith was too ‘out there’ and Wesley was too ‘old school’. It was not a good combination and it was something she desperately wanted to make sure that they fixed.

Buffy looked at her cell phone (something she had finally gotten used to carrying with her) and cringed. “Alright, well I don’t know about everyone else but I think it’s time to head in. I didn’t realize it was this late and I have to get up for work in the morning.” She stated before motioning to the cemetery exit. “Follow us to the house and we can go get your stuff from the hotel tomorrow.” She stated, leaving no room for arguments. She simply grabbed Willow’s arm and dragged her out of the cemetery towards the car.

She was tired…and she needed a nice warm bed.
